As a side note...everyone here knows you can just rename MTS or M2TS to MPG to use in apps which support H264 but not those specific file extensions...right?
@Gexmeister its a great camera, we are currently looking at making a 35mm lens adapter for it. The video quality is great. I have used a HVX200 and its hard to see the difference in image quality. Just know all the function are internal, some people don't like that. As for me it does what its supposed to do.
@dainbreadfilms I'm glad you like the HMC70, i heard that the HMC80 is out now but it's got a MOS image sensor...i try to avoid those as much as i can but who knows. maybe they make em better nowadays.
I edited this video with Sony Vegas 9. I've stopped using sony vegas and work strictly with Final Cut Pro for all my new projects. (Sony vegas is still a good editing program...it's just that FCP squishes it like a bug :P)
yes. Final cut takes the AVCHD(.mts) files directly off of your SD card. All you have to do is 'Log and Transfer'. I'll post a video tutorial on how to do it. It's really easy and it's a lot faster than using tape.
technology is certainly changing rapidly. although these cameras have a sharp picture i dont like them. comparing them to 35mm, 35mm win hands down. the colours on these new cameras are sharp and vright but they hurt my eyes. its also kinda cartoony. 35mm has a nicer feel to it
35mm cameras are cost somewhere around $150,000(including lenses) our cameras cost around $2,000. You're right, 35mm wins hands down...but I really don't see the point in comparing cameras that are so different in price range.
When i say "35mm cameras" I mean something like a Panavision camera. I'm pretty sure that you're talking about a 35mm adapter. Those are cheaper and allow you to be able to put professional lenses on consumer grade cameras. Putting a 35mm adapter on your camera does not make your camera a 35mm camera.
Editing AVCHD is difficult if you don't have the right computer. You have to have an Intel cuad-core(or higher). I also suggest 4GB(or higher) of ram.
As a side note...everyone here knows you can just rename MTS or M2TS to MPG to use in apps which support H264 but not those specific file extensions...right?

Even in HD it doesn't appear to satisfying, but I honestly blame youtube for that.
Could you possibly upload some 1080 footage to MediaFire or MegaUpload?
This would be highly appreciated as I look to buy this camera come February. :)

What kind of microphone do you use?

There's not much Audio in this vid, but we mostly use our 'Rode NTG-1' or we borrow our school's 'Audio-Technica BP4073.'
