  • oh this is expertvillage.. i didn't mean to click on this.. clicks away.

  • HEXATONIC lmfao

  • lol expertVILLAGE, the dude is totally a redneck

  • wtf this is a blues scale

  • @cage94123567890 a blues scale (in this case, the minor) is just the normal pentatonic scale plus 2 extra notes, one on the A string and another one on the G string.

  • @aLuCaRdHTTB i know thats what i was pointing out :/

  • Wow, they have 138,793 videos worth of suck, ouch!

  • is this not the blues, and how we cant see him cuz of the letters, his explanation is well find it in songs... ass

  • i play normal guitar and even i know that this is blues

  • @metalrocker1ful yeah it just sounds way to bluesy

  • lamest bass player ever

  • 666thmessihah. ...alot of the best musicians in history could give a f*** about theory. your ethier good or no good. and yea theory might help. but theory dosnt make someone a good mucisian

  • You know what; when I started, scales did alot for me; there are people saying just knowing the scale is pointless; its not, at the end of the day, all you need to know to be a good musician is how to play your instrument; scales, chords, time signatures, and other areas of theory are only there to describe something you have just played. Knowing a scale, and wherein lay the specific steps, are all you need to get started.

I for one appreciate the effort people like this have put in for us

  • perfect, great .. thanks!!! good job!

by the way, month by month, a new expert come here to say "Blues ..." ... jerks!

  • HEXATONIC Blues.

  • wow everyone here is so smart. I'm with you guys, fuck this guy for showing us how to play a scale free of charge. Fuckin asshole I hate him and I am also more intelligent and a better bass player than he is; so I want everybody to agree with me so we can all hate his giving spirit together and feed are enormous egos. Rock and ROLL MOTHAFUCKA!!!!

  • @deedoo2009 I love you

  • Pentatonic major scale, blues adaptation. add 2a +

  • BLUES!

  • blues scale

  • people are bitching way too much. he showed us the scale If you people are so fucking smart than why are you on this lesson in the first place?

  • thats a pentatonic Blues

  • rotfl

  • What really I don't understand from this "lesson" is why you talk about with fret press instead of explain the relationship between the blues scale intervals/notes and the chords where use it. A mechanical approach in studying a scale is not working and useless... A scale is a "colour" for music, talk about the colours of the scale and not where put the fingers on the keyboard!

  • I think he is a little to stoned to be thinking enough to teach all of that "complicated" info. And since this is expert village you cant expect the best lesson.

  • wow you're smart!

  • This scale can be used on a minor chord even if the 4th aug plays a bit strange. The most common use of the blues scale is on a dominant seventh chord where the 4th perfect is dissonant, the 3rd minor and the 5th dim generate a blues feeling [minor harmony on a dominant seventh chord].

  • Guys, in theory every scale with 5 notes could be a pentatonic, but that's not the case... However, the blues scale, a six notes scale, is not a pentatonic, even if it origins from the minor pentatonic scale {really from the ancient African pentatonic} plus the #4 degree. It can be even though as a minor scale without the 2nd and 6th degree and a 4th aug.

  • this isnt a pentattonic scale lol

  • Thats the Blues scale o.O

  • Haha true, I realised the same thing :p

  • well all that rock is, is a spin off of blues, its all the same concept

  • a minor pentatonic scale doesn't have a flat fith does it?

  • no,cos pentatonic is 5 notes,so ur right cos the flat 5th would make 6,so i think EV is not very expert or logical this time---but there are other scales to use that are just as easy and blues scale is only(as u know)half a natural minor scale ,so why use a blues scale!-we actually use a major/mixolididion when we play a 12 bar!!!-basically its an over used t scale so u can play over major or minor with ease-use it sparingly and use other scales to broaden ur own playing style

  • expert village suck the balls of a termite infested fox

  • wow the huge paragraph like half way through the video is really annoying

  • Thats the Blues scale you tit!

  • ur right

  • ignore expert village, people, these village people worth horse crap, nothing more, maybe less.

  • where do you get off?

  • then i should learn from who?

  • i know dude. and if you ppl really want to lern. either get lessons, or buy a book. all i can say

  • Thats not a minor pentatonic... It's a Blues minor pentatonic.

  • thats what i thought its much different then the penatonic i learned

  • @JavierB1988 yeah, cause blues pentatonic has the 4th added.

  • This is helpful!

  • is that sunshine of your lovein a different key?

  • I've been playing guitar for five years, and the bass for... about 3 days. I have to say it feels really degrading being so helpless on an instrument. Scales are the same but I haven't mastered any bass specific techniques like slapping yet.

  • The bass is a different instrument with a different sound and purpose. Would you tell an orchestra to get rid of a bass, cello or viola and have everyone play the violin because they're just deeper? You do have a point in that bass players today mimic the guitar far too much. Study the greats...John Deacon (Queen), John Entwistle (The Who), John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) and to a lesser extent Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) or Matt Freeman (Rancid) & Cliff Burton (Metallica) for speed.

  • is it possible just to learn the basics of bass

  • fucking worthless

  • that's the same scale on the guitar only without the last two strings.

  • good job dr watson...the bass has the same notes as the guitar...e a d g , guitar has e a d g b e (i think)

  • yep. just an octave down

  • hahaha nice.

he actually played a blues scale up to the sharp 4 above the octave. pentatonic is a scale consisting of 5 notes... hence the name PENTatonic

(pent = 5 for those of you who don't know, like a pentagon has 5 sides)

  • gay dose not mean stupid

  • what's the dif, electric bass and electric bass guitar?

  • that the second one has the word guitar :P nah just kidding, they're the same

  • we;; there are 6 string basses which sound more like guitars

  • Exellent rock scale for beginning.

  • Hey these videos are cool...me and my friend put together a band and i am trying to show him how to play bass. he is a pretty quick learner but i never know what the bass should be playing when i play certain chords on the guitar. i know that generally on power chords the bass just plays the lowest string in the chord but what about everything else? where can i go to get like names of notes and stuff too?

  • the bass guitarist wen your making a song should start on the same root note as you and then as the song progresses the bassist will play the main rythm of the song while the guitar can go off and do its own kick ass solo

  • or it could be the other way around... MARK KING!! :D

  • hell yea!

  • MARK KING!!!!!! Fuck Yeah!

dont know why hes came up part from hes super awesome but as a fan i joined in:D

  • yup the Blue Scale it is....good vid though...

  • Oops xShredx4xLifex, I apologize your right, I spoke in haste, its the Blues Scale...

  • That is in fact, a pentatonic scale, its a minor pentatonic.

  • that's A blues scale, pentatonic wont have the D sharp in it

  • why does the scale end with a D#?

  • It's one of the Chromatic notes that is added tot eh pentatonic to make it a blues scale.....that, and there isnt enough strings to complete the whole scale.
