It's not about the fluency or difficulty of the songs or how refined they are. It's about invoking a mood and using music to communicate an emotion or feeling. Acid King does this very well.

I understand that some people from the 70s dont like modern metal but thats just their loss because theres a sub genre for everyone in metal nowadays. My Dad listened to the genre Ska back when he was my age and that morphed into Dubstep over time which he doesn't like. However, you'd be harder pressed to find Ska influence in Dubstep than Metallica/Sabbath etc influence in Metal.

There are a lot of bands I hate with a passion (They're mostly the mainstream metal bands, the only two I could listen to if I had the inclination would be Mastodon and LoG) but I guess you have to take the good with the bad. You know they are parts on metal moving into nw classification, such as Grind- Goregrind, Pornogrind, etc. I would be surprised if Stonder music dropped the metal classification and just called Stoner-Doom.
