My gosh! I'm the biggest Tchaikovsky fan ever! :) His 4th Symphony is definitely my favorite, but I love the 5th as well! This is really good, btw, especially for a high school orchestra!

you should think about having more balance if you play these piece again. the moving parts or the most important.

wow there violin section is really strong. i dont know about there lower string section though and seems like the violins over power them. more like a violin orchestra then a full orchestra. there wind section seems to be struggling in a few parts. other then that really good for a high school orchestra.

I remember this piece. My youth orchestra played it when I was in 8th grade... This brings back so many memories. But this is really impressive for a high school. The orchestra I played it with in 8th grade was auditioned.

yeah. this is a difficult piece. you play hard stuff in band, then you suddenly transition to orchestra music and it's a different game. it looks easy, but it's deceptive

man. i was there and i still cant believe the sound that they produced. Soo Han is a beautiful director and a genius both while he was at North Central and now that hes at Carmel. There was absolutely no comparing Carmel to anyone else at this competition. They went first, placed the bar high, and left everyone else to fall far short of their mark.

I'm just amazed that this is a HIGH SCHOOL. I could only dream of playing music like this back then. Gives me faith that true musicianship isn't dead. lol Whoever is in charge of the music program at this school is doing an EXCELLENT job!

How lucky you all are to have an orchestral program like this! Where I grew up, school orchestras were strings only. And they ended up being "strolling strings" walking around playing at political or chamber of commerce dinners. When we did have "full" orchestra, it was in the spring when we did the musical - then you could hardly play for fear of drowning out the singers. Come to think of it, that might have been a good thing in some cases as I recall.

i played this piece in high school as well, but our brass sections definitely wasnt as good and we had less violins and more cellos lol. Yall played this very well. congrats to you and your director
