Damn, this brought tears to my eyes. The part when we heard that he was laughing and joking around with his girlfriend and then she goes downstairs to make pancakes..then she hears "bang". How awful! R.I.P!
i emailed Richard Jenni once after his last hbo show to tell him he was so good i could never do what he did on stage and he was a gem i know its not much maybe if he read it i know its a small complement but its sucks he did what he did i no my complacent was not much maybe it did not matter
I saw him live once and laughed so hard that my ribs actually hurt!! he was really amazing, so sad that his sadness overwhelmed him that he thought that suicide was the only answer
I miss this guy so much. I had been a fan since his very first appearance on Johnny Carson. I think I was in junior high at the time. I followed his career through the years and even got to meet him and get a picture with him after his performance at the Ontario Improv in June 2005, just a year and a half before he died. I was incredibly shocked when I heard the news and I still can't believe he's gone. One of the best stand up comedians of all time. We miss you, Rich.
wow, the people who seem so happy, have so much deep crap that they would end it.........i use your bits all the time to make my customers laff, thanks, you live on through me, richard palmer las vegas nv. 6 shows a week serving drinks and crap to make people feel better about life.
I enjoyed this man's work, I consider him the greatest man on the planet, he, Eddie Murphy, and Jeff Dunham are the few that keep me on my toes, because I often hope in some strange sick way, I'd possibly meet someone who is as grand as them or in a sense that they remind me loosely of... it pitied me how he died, ironic though, it seems to me that every form of media's famous men/women of each category suffered a mental problem, it's just my observation though. R.I.P. you manly man.
First I'd like to thank the person who uploaded this video- much appreciated. I am and will always be a big fan of Richard Jeni. He made me laugh so many times when I needed it and I only wish I could have told him how much he really meant. Although he is gone, I will continue to remember him and honor him by sharing his talented shows and videos to everyone I can. God bless you Richard, you are missed.
it sounds like the psychiatrists finished him off. Ignorance can be death when it comes to dealing with that 'profession'. Involuntary commitment? I'll bet he was upset.
Jeni was one of those comedians you either loved or hated. Much of his stuff was too steeped in the milieu of Americana to translate to a British or Australian audience, but he was definitely one of the funniest American comedians I've ever seen. His timing and delivery was impeccable, despite the nervous laughs and ticks he had.
It happened to me. My disgruntled ex had me committed; made up crap about me.. But hes been dead since 2002 now.. Diabetes complications..karmas a bitch
He was sent INVOLUNTARILY to a hospital psych ward.. You realize that almost anybody can do this to you.. Its so sad what happened here but you wonder he killed himself after being forced into this. Great comic this is so sad
If I was a proctalogist I'd wear a catcher's mask, oven mitts, and have a rubber finger on the end of a javelin!R.I.P. Richard no matter how many times I watch ur stand up,I laugh my ass off every time!Great comedian's don't come around everyday, but u were one of them.I wished I could be laughing my ass off at some new stand up special he was gonna be doin!
Richard Jeni is the one comic who I always laugh at his specials. I was sadden to hear of his passing, while I do not condone suicide, I certainly understand it in his case. he had demons and they got the better of him. He was a great comic and made many people smile. now he is making the angels laugh.
Bummer...I can still remember that knot in my stomach when I first read of his suicide. He was the most talented stand-up comic I've ever seen and it seemed so incomprehensible that anyone who could make people laugh so hard could become so despondent that he would shoot himself to death. I kept thinking, 'why couldn't he just make himself laugh like the rest of us?' We can only wonder what brilliant material he would have come up with in the future if he was still alive.
@JackKangaroo1 I agree ,he made me laugh so hard everytime I saw one of his act's.He was a great comedian that unfortunatly we lossed too soon like other great ones,Farley,Belushi,Hartman,Kinison,I don't know how the list could be.

@ElProximo And don't forget how he was able to utilize it in his acts (I might have missed the painted target but you get the idea).

He was truly the funniest ever and it kinda sickens me looking at the other tragic side of comedy specials that his is the shortest
