he can....beacause he have no brain.... a german proverb says: what the farmer doesnt know......he will not eat....... ähhh like that i hope ya understand......
I agree with you in a way, but these are the measures that have to be taken to move to the next level of turntabilism. If you watch some of the DMC's from more recent years, like for instance 2002/2003, a lot of the stuff is very similar and whilst a couple of performances really stand out (DJ Enferno being one) a lot of them just lacked originality.
this debate is a good one. but i think in the end, its all about the money and sponsors. who in the hell will press a record for you?lacking originality is another thing. sometimes i think if they put cdj's there next time, it will be cool too right? in the end its about the music they make and not the 'DMC' name and all.
When I ear this without looking at the screen, I like what I ear. He is very good! Hip-Hop or not! I guess everything changes at some point. DMC is no exception. Anyway, that's just my opinion.
If more sets start sounding like this, DMC will MOST DEFINITELY decline. A bunch of EDM sets with 1 pair of PRE-MADE battle records...WaCkNeSs!!! It has no soul and is not authentic (more plastic sounding). These type of cats are taking it back to the corny DMC days of Chad Jackson. The Hip-Hop sound is what made DMC dope in the late 80's and 90's...gotta keep it rooted. I like original unique sets like Dexta's 2000 performance but this (Rafik) kinda set can't be a standard...
IDM, not EDM. I think either this, or original hip-hop is the only direction for this game. I would rather hear IDM routines over d&b routines any day of the week. IDM can have soul and can be authentic, but the fact is that very few cats can pull it off. It's time to bring it back to the streets!!! HIP-HOP FOREVER...

i think that I cant do a 1% or less that hes doing, and i think that he and Netik are taking turntablism to OTHER directions BUUUT ... wheres the diggin thing? in the future the turntablist collection will be two homemade battle records with specifics sounds and sequence justo to get a most "cohesive" set? sincerelly im not sure.. anyway BIG RESPECT TO RAFIK
rafik has good custom battle record production skills, yasa has good turntablism skills, apparently custom battle records are more important to the judges at dmc, damn.
you honestly think that rafik has less skills than yasa???? hahaha, good joke! but wrong in the highest degree. rafiks level can be reached by only a handful djs, and he does show his skills in this routine, too.
There's little hip hop involved anymore simply because it's just getting old. No boundaries are being pushed, there's no originality there anymore. DJ's like Rafik and Netik have really pushed those boundaries and have taken turntabilism to the next step.
That's right, everybody got tired with hip-hop, but that's not the point. Where's the music? I didn't hear the music in Rafik's set, just the techique. In my opinion Yasa's set was a lot better just because it was more pleasant to listen. And it weren't too much hip-hop as well. I agree, that techique is important, but don't forget, you're dealing with music here. Anyway, mad props to Rafik!

just because you didnt hear any hip hop, doesnt mean the dmc is declining, music is making its way to the future and IEMERG used an electronica set, and now rafik. theyre using creativity and thats something a dj needs to get to the top.
alot of u infidels may be fooled by all the fast sounding samples and custom melodies/records but i'm not impressed by this set in the least. however rafik is dope and has earned the gold by paying dues so congrats mofo
If this is the gold standard for DJ's, then DMC is on the decline. This is the modern-day Chad Jackson (corny). Retik's got skills but I don't think I heard a single Hip-Hop record. Boooo!
You have to use hip hop records in DMC? The factors which you claim lead to a decline are propelling DMC forward. Hip hop was spawned from all forms of music, so it is hypocrisy to complain about not hearing any hip hop. A typical hip hop routines + vocal dis is a tired approach, just adding to the monotony. Rafik is nearly flawless, and has a keen sense of selection. This set plays more like a movie soundtrack than a bunch of random records - one of the most cohesive sets I've heard in a while.
I couldn't say it better donutg268, playin it safe! hooked on dj phonics! hell a preschooler can do that!

man DMC has lost its way.
I know Djs have been pressin vinyl for battles since the 90s...like Q-berts Battle Breaks but ffs, this pre-prepared battle vinyl shit is a joke.
maybe DMC should give djs who use ppb records a different category.
