  • And there's our good friend, Eric Clapton, whose tremendous influence on guitar/music history is questioned by some young uninformed idiots- quietly playing his wah (Wah-Wah), then slide guitar on a CLASSIC track, at a history-making concert that helped feed millions of starving people, before Live Aid or We Are the World had ever been dreamt of. Listen and learn, my children. :O))

  • who in the hell would have sent 3 dislikes for this? they must have been Rolling stones fans.

  • The older i get i am sure that George was not that impotent to the Beatles, but of the four he was the most impotent to the music that came out of the all of them, may all be well on your endless journey

  • Love this.....

  • All the Beatles are legends and George is my favorite. Bought the Bangladesh multi-album when it first came and still love it.

  • John: Hey George, want to write a song.

    George: Here "Don't Bother Me".

  • Whose the native with George.

  • Such a good-looking soul. His son looks just like George did.

  • lol Ringo looks like a hobo

  • Nick Dudman? The first stuff I tried to learn to play was Harrisons stuff on Let It Be (Dig a Pony, I've Got a Feeling) and All Things. I'm not a star, but i have made my living as a guitarist for 35 years. Sorry you are more impressed w/ Claptons incessant playing of a pentatonic scale, but Harrisons solos were all little melodies - when a guitarist plays a Cream or Hendrix song and it's time to solo, we just blow, but playing a Beatles song? You HAVE to play Georges solo.

  • Stop fighting and listen to the man

  • fun to watch the people around him at Bangladesh. you see so many other greats!!

  • Quarant'anni fa questo concerto di beneficenza, ma sembra solo ieri.......

  • Hateful opinion based criticisms and negativity are the easiest and cheapest things to produce. George Harrison was against and always above that. Thank you George for your gracious presence and wonderful state of being....May you forever Rest in Peace.

  • I'm 54 and I remember George Harrison's music over all the other Beatles during the '70s. Geroge's music was more for the hippy culture, love, love, love. I really don't remember him as a complainer. I remember John and Paul locking horns a couple of times. But those two were two completely different geniuses. Neither better than the other, just two different audiences. Wherever you George, love ya.

  • Poor George. He tried so hard to be like John and Paul. Most of the music that came out of him was awkward and clunky. Not even his lyrics were compelling. In the end, the "quiet" Beatle complained about almost everything...and LOUDLY. He was convinced the Beatles had conspired against him and his music. Of course, it never occurred to him that his music MIGHT NOT BE THAT GOOD. Poor guy!

  • @thegrinchl7 Obviously you are not a Beatles or George Harrison fan. Why are you even watching this video if you truly believe that " Most of the music that came out of him was awkward and clunky"? Paul McCartney has been quoted during the making of Abbey Road that "George's songs are as good as John & I, if not better". Even though I believe you made this comment only to garner attention to yourself, do us all a favor & never comment on anything again.

  • @jdubsmcnugent - I LOVE the Beatles! I do NOT like

George Harrison. At the core of George's personality

was a deeply bitter individual with little graciousness

for his blessings. Considering his pedestrian guitar

playing and weak voice, one could argue it something

of a miracle that George got as far as he did. George

tagged along for the ride to fame on the backs of Lennon

and McCartney! For George, it wasn't quite good enough

...so he complained. And complained...and COMPLAINED!

  • @thegrinchl7 So why are you wasting your time watching this video? It is a George Harrison song on a George Harrison solo album.

  • @jdubsmcnugent - When I have a scab, I scratch at it. When George sings...with that weak, effeminate voice...I just want to scream. You don't mind if I try to improve the world of music by trying to eliminate the mediocrities. Do you?

  • @thegrinchl7 - Hateful opinion based criticisms and negativity are the easiest and cheapest things to produce. George Harrison was against and always above that. Thank you George for your gracious presence and for your wonderful state of being....May you forever Rest in Peace.

  • @zepamor -George? "Gracious"? While George lectured

us on the importance of taking care of the planet and our

bodies, George was busy flying between England and Hawaii

on his private jet, spewing all kinds of carbon. Bulldozed

hundreds of environmentally sensitive trees to build his new

    mansion (I guess Friar Park's 120-rooms weren't enough?).

Then was sued by neighbors for shutting access to the coast.

Then, George SMOKED HIMSELF TO DEATH. Now, how is

this a "wonderful state of being"?

  • @thegrinchl7 get off your soapbox. i reckon georges music is better than yours

  • @nickdudman82 - Actually, (and I'm not joking) I rather

think YOU or I could have replaced George. Mind you,

I don't think it mattered WHO occupied that position.

The engine, the soul and the heart of the "Beatles" was

Lennon, McCartney and George Martin. Ringo and

George could have been turkey sandwiches for all they

mattered. He had the wisdom to ride the Beatle

momentum to a solo career but then confirmed

suspicions about his dubious "talent" when he

    plagiarized other people's music.

  • @thegrinchl7 ... now im pretty sure you are just saying that to get a rise out of me... lets (wrongly) assume that georges songwriting talents were absolute NIL.... just take a listen to his guitar playing.

ill disregard your comments.. and your existence... i wish you happiness and a dose of musical intellect. peace and love you hater. grinch indeed!

  • @nickdudman82 - You seem rather articulate...intelligent. So, why be lazy and call me a "hater"? I have "listened" to his guitar playing which I find pedestrian. "Here, There and Everywhere" with its Plank! Plank! Later, his overuse of the SLIDE. Even when George does something innovative, later we find out it wasn't HIS idea (opening power chord on "Hard Days Night" was George Martin's idea. As a kid you learned from Clapton, Hendrix, Vaughn or Townshend. NOBODY imitated George Harrison! Nobody

  • @thegrinchl7 Oh shut the fuck up.

  • @zoznack - A World War ll pilot always knew they were right over the target based on all the flack they were getting!

  • BTW, The Chiffons "He's So Fine" was written by Lonnie Mack ... a blues guitarist, singer and songwriter from Indiana, who, in 1961 released one of the first great rock-n-roll guitar albums.

  • @aaronhoffmeyer Nix that.... Wikipedia had the name screwed up. It was written by Ronald Mack.

  • Not to mention that Come Together's music was taken from Taxman, which Lennon has even tried to take credit for.

  • George Harrison also PLAGIARIZED "Something" from the Four Tops 1967 hit "That Thing". After having endured the embarrassing "He's So Fine" lawsuit, George settled this out of court. Apparently, he would have LOST that case too. The song starts of slowly "That thing, that you do, reminds me that you're my LOVER, THAT THING that you do, reminds me of no other. Your asking if my love will flow, I don't know...I DO NOT KNOW!!! THAT THING that you do".

  • @thegrinchl7

John Lennon also ended up plagiarizing All You Need is Love from a 1965 hit called "All You Need is Above", just like he did for Come Together. Luckily, his Beatles connections saved him from a lawsuit again.

"New Jersey Turnpike in the wee wee hours

I was ROLLIN' SLOWLY 'cause of drizzlin' showers

Here come a FLAP-TOP, he was MOVIN' up with me

Then come wavin' by me in a little' old souped-up jitney "

And unlike thegroin17's example, this is a real song JL plagiarized off of.

  • @nafaidni The only reference on the ENTIRE Internet to John Lennon stealing some song called All You Need Is Above is YOUR COMMENT. That's it.

  • @aaronhoffmeyer

Cool story bro. Only you didn't realize I was satirically replying to a guy who claimed George Harrison plagiarized Something off of an imaginary song called That Thing.

  • REASON, EMOTION & TRUTH!

Here comes the Son, here comes the Son, the Son of God.....the Lord God Jesus!

and I say, it's all right! Amen! George Harrison's god is not the Lord God Jesus, George is singing to his god Lucifer in this song called 'MY SWEET LORD.' Sad fact.

  • @TruthTeller878 That your opinion, It isnt a fact asshole.

  • I suggest you send messages to the owners of these videos to simply block FrightWhelp.

Then, he'll consume himself in his own insecurities and evaporate or something.

  • Damn George Harrison really had some crazy tunes :DDDD Got a new found respect for him than ever before "My Sweet Harrison" ;)

  • George Harrison and friends respect to the flowering of many talents. "My Sweet Lord" is not in plagiarism. Lyrics and melody to reach this frontier, George Harrison none other than personality.

  • @kasano802 - It is a particularly glaring offense that a wealthy

white ex-Beatle would be CONVICTED of stealing music from

a struggling, one-hit group like the Chiffons. More troubling is

the idea that the pious George Harrison would offer up these

stolen goods to his "sweet lord" as a kind of bribe. I do not be-

lieve George "unintentionally" plagiarized. Too much evidence

to the contrary. John Lennon said "if he had brought it to me like

I told him, they couldn't have TOUCHED him".

  • @thegrinchl7

    "Too much evidence

    to the contrary."

Funny, which is why they ruled that it was not intentional.

Regardless, George stole nothing from the Ciffons. He borrowed the chorus chords of a song called Oh Happy Day, which may or may not have been stolen from the Ciffons, and then used alterations of it for his lyrics.

By coincidence, it just ended up sounding more like... wut was it called? Oh, yeah, He's So Fine. Btw, stop race baiting, Ciffons were not "poor".

  • @nafaidni - The lead singer of the Chiffons is homeless.

  • @thegrinchl7

Show me the source for that claim.

  • @thegrinchl7 Apparently they told him before he released it that it was too similar to He's So Fine. They all knew and George pressed on anyway.

  • George Harrison and friends respect to the flowering of many talents.

  • Look at the musos who JUMPED at the chance of playing with Hari. G. And look at his 'Concert ... after he died. Respect, as the kids of today would say.

  • Probably the only westerner whom could have got along with bin.

  • the eric clapton it's chapadon....

  • i love this song so much I cannot stop screaming

  • Young,MCartney,Clapton,Starr and Collins, the world needs you in difficult times. We beg.

  • Really a clean happy refreshing song. The top 40s version was really great too.

What a talent RIP George! God Bless

  • Te extrañamos George.....

  • sweet voice

  • @FrlghtWolf that he managed to hold his own in a band with giants like John and Paul says alot right there ... try competing with the greatest songwriting team of the 20th century and nobody would measure up.....but he was a much better guitarist than the others... George carved his own niche, but none of them could run from being a Beatle...

  • @JerichoDitch2 - I think it's the opposite. I think John and Paul HELD HIM UP. George spent so long standing next to the gods, that after a while, he confused himself for one. Poor George!

  • Love this one!!! George really knows how to sing

  • @FrlghtWolf, you don't know what you saying...he's a complete artist! He's a legend!

  • @FrlghtWolf Thank God he wasn't a grocery clerk;but you have proved one thing correct;and that 1 thing is you really don't know what you are talking about.

  • Wahnderfull.

  • It seems George is God... His music saved me from doom. By The Way: He was understanding, that music has to touch the soul.

  • George was awesome! Generations will appreciate him even more long after his passing. God Bless George.

  • I loved the Beatles but for all they were George was the only one who had rock flowing in his blood the others were just pop music. And standing alone George and John will stand the test of time Paul will fade away as he should.

  • Hare Krishna

  • @chillidog1050 I was at that show. Ravi Shankar opened. I thought it was 71. I saw him at the Spectrum.... amazing night!

  • @taxidriverstj I believe it was later when I saw George...the Dark Horse tour w/ Ravi and Billy Preston. It was within months of Bowie's Diamond Dogs tour.

I love George, and this concert seemed so amazing. I wish I could have been there. <3

  • wow! how great was this show and what about the musicians on stage. A virtual who's who in the music rock and roll hall of fame. Compare this to what you see today and its depressing

  • I was at this concert and I still love to crank it up. Evrything about his concert was perfect--except that Johnny didn't show up....

  • Rappers make millions stealing beats, I think george heard a tune in his head and made the song, It's insanely easy to come up with a great beat and then realize, whoops. someone's been there done that before. It's wasn't like now where you can access any type of music 24/7.

  • George is my favorite, it isn't until the later half of the Beatles that his true talent is shown, he is legend. PERIOD,

  • @DestructableMe true but cmon his early beatles stuff was awesome to like dont bother me but it sucks because it was always paul and john really

  • lastima que no vivas en estos momentos pero gracias por dejarnos tu guitarra que llora dilcemente

  • PT.4: Religion is totally irrelevant. He earned respect of his peers & I'd take their opinion any day over yours. He deserved better than rude comments. Read about it & come back. Don't like his music? That's your taste, you're entitled to it. Rest is just bad form. There weren't 'petty' grievances. Together a long time, they had their issues. John & Paul? Dynamic personalities. It doesn't diminish Georges talent. Check the facts, along with what his musical peers said, ya daft gits. Respect!

  • @RippersPet - You're right! Religion is "totally" irrelevant. That's why George should have kept it to himself. George set himself up for some disturbing hypocrisy. George would profess the importance of taking care of the planet and of "one's own body". Then, George literally SMOKED HIMSELF TO DEATH. More troubling was this idea of KARMA which he pushed. Since George was stabbed to pieces and then, years later died of horrific cancer, his fans must be wondering "what must George have done"?

  • @thegrinchl7 "what must George have done"?

nothing as tragic as ur parents

  • @TheBatugan77 - Excuse me, I thought you texting fucks used "UR" for "you are" as opposed to "your". Shouldn't it be "yer". But then again, you would only save 1 letter instead of 2. Oh the bother!

  • PT.3: His music will be appreciated for years to come. Can you say that of anything youve done? You don't believe he was a great artist, look to his peers. Clapton, Richards, etc. They're wrong & you're right? Show respect. Who are you to tear at a man's legacy? For shame. Why you feel you have the right is beyond me. A good man & great artist. Can you say the same? What George Martin thought is on record. He thought GH an incredibly talented musician/songwriter, w/a beautiful, giving nature.

  • PT.2: What I'd like to know is, who are you? What have YOU done, to condemn? Are YOU a talented songwriter/singer? Even a professional critic, trained in that which you speak of? George gave us something beautiful & spent his last time on earth organizing "Love", a Beatles Cirque d'Soleil show. His vision & dream. J & P may very well have been the driving force/genius behind the group, but one shouldn't discount contributions of the other two. It was a time in music that will not come again.

  • PT.1: The people bad-mouthing George here should reflect on the saying "Consider the source". Who are you to cast dispersion dispersion on a gifted, talented man no longer with us? You think he was in the Beatles as 'window dressing'? "Everything old is new again." It holds true for music as well. There are those who say in Mozart, you can hear strains of other composer's works. Did Mozart steal from others? All artists are influenced by others, their peers & those who came before.

  • Regardless of if its just a rewrite of He's Do Fine, I think we can all agree My Sweet Lord is much better. Music was meant to be made, not fought over.

  • hello to all george fans, the song my sweet lord was not a rewrite of he so fine, its not even similiar, the idea came from oh happy day,its the same structurepeople who think otherwise should grow up and dont use this format to show their stupididity and lack of knowlege of were songs origians come from, talk of plagerisim, bodidleee was copied note per note and they wrote iwant candy by the strangeloves, think about a mover is a rewrite of what I say,its now or never is a rewrite of ole sol amio.

  • danin- Ugh! This is probably one of the most poorly written posts I've ever seen on Youtube. And that's saying a lot. You know, I've noticed something. If you go on John Lennon's videos, he attracts a much older/wiser fan base. Seriously!

George Harrison seems to attract some of the least educated people in the Youtube community. That's saying a LOT about George Harrison...the minor Beatle.

  • thank you George for everything

  • cuban, i guess it's all a matter of what someone is looking for in the music. as for a 120-room mansion, maybe he liked it.

One thing I think you'll find if you STUDY his music is that it was often strucutually more difficult than most pop, AND many beatles songs. Also, I think the spirituality helped him cope (i dunno, i'm not spritual). At least you're not some drooling, stupid caveman...your arguments show at least you can think...

  • Bckm - George's music, "difficult" or not, was never my favorite. That would be the end of it except that George himself made it an issue. He complained bitterly that his music didn't get the respect it "deserved". He accused the Beatles of conspiring against his music.

Living in an 120 room mansion is fine, if you make no claim being anything other than materialistic. Eating meat becomes hypocrisy ONLY when you claim to be a vegetarian. You can't do both, even if you ARE an ex-Beatle.

  • not that it really means anything, but please note that I did NOT give you a thumbs-down. :) Sometimes possibly disagreeing with someone is more interesting than blind agreement where all that is done is preaching to the choir.

  • lol che wasnt cuban

  • brick - Sorry for the late response. You posted: "lol che wasn't Cuban". The name "Che" is really an Argentine expression meaning a variety of things. It is often used as a sentence pause like "Um" or "well". It is also the equivalent of "Pal" or "buddy".

When the Argentine Ernesto Guevara joined with the Cubans, they immediately found his use of "che" unique. They started calling him "Che".

There are MANY "Che's" now. My last name is Guavara and my friends call me "Che", mostly as a joke.

  • bckm54 - In my opinion, none of them ever rose to Beatle quality as soloists. George is often given credit for achieving the best post-Beatle output but I disagree.

All Things Must Pass was largely comprised of music that was never good enough for the Beatles (George Martin knew a little bit more about what good music was than you or I).

Mostly, I just don't respect George. There was something of a coward about him. I see him using his religion as a smoke screen to mask petty grievances.

  • Che, for whatever it's worth, you are one of the most interesting people I have interacted with here on Youtube. I don't always agree with your comments, but your comments are always worth reading carefully, and thinking about. Thanks for making me think... :)

  • Oh man, this might sound cheesy, but I just got all teary-eyed listening to his voice in this recording.

  • I always thought George would be an ideal candidate for playing Jesus in a movie. he looks like how I picture Jesus with his long hair and beard and he had the most soulful, beautiful eyes.
