Man, legit this brings back memories. I was a hired helping hand for WoWScape before it shut down cause of Peyton being a little Jew. for those of you who don't know. Peyton owned this private server and after Burlex who ran the storm emulator asked for a raise, he was fired (mind you he was amazing at his job) anywho. a new man stepped in by the name of Storm. he added his own changed to the Emulator and called it "his own" and took all the credit (a violation of GNU AGPL)
another HUGE issue was the donations. this was an issue before Blurex, the main developer of what this server's Emulator is based on, attacked WoWScape for making money off his work. this continued up until he joined WoWScape as a developer. Everyone knows why they donate, to support the server. Well, it went past "supporting the server" I had a look at the donation logs (yes through a 3rd party program, shh) and what I saw was
Records: 1 to 20 of 194217 (thats a lot of donations!)
And, what will really blow your mind is, that was only donations for the month of January! The total was $540, 771. 91
If you hosted a server with the latest hardware, best specs, fastest connection, etc. available form Softlayer. and you bought FIVE of them. you would be paying around $15, 000 a month so lets do the math
Thats enough to buy something nice like an Ipod touch, or a trip to Disney world, or maybe a treadmill!
She could have spent that money on materials to update the server or at least make it easier on her working staff. but no she didn't all donaters were doing was insulating poor old Peyton's wallet for the tough economical times.
eventually the server was shut down due to the new Emulator. He was stealing patches from the Original WoW game, and they eventually found out.
