  • Check out my rendition of Lawrence of Arabia!

  • The beginning sort of sounds like the score to Jurassic Park The Lost World

  • Hey guys go see the movie i uploaded it on you tube watch?v=Iuqv6YIU6IY

  • At the Toronto International Film Festival they played this on the big screen, with the 70mm film. Doesn't get much better than that. I loved the film.

  • Aqaba!

  • When will this be released on Blu-Ray?! I've seen it advertised for 6 years now!

  • Maurice Jarre's best soundtrack.

  • Mr. Sykes and M. Picot like that.

  • Heard this in "Spy Who Loved Me" and started cracking up. XD

  • @scottabreitbarth The Middle East episode of Top Gear had a ride through the desert, and I thought, if you guys don't use this music, something's gone wrong. They used it.

  • My soundtrack album keeps track of the various themes in this overture - it starts with the so-called "Savage" theme at 0:16, then shifts over to the "Quest" theme at 0:39, and then the "Arabia" theme at 2:42. After listening for a while, I noticed that at 4:01 all three of those themes are played AT THE SAME TIME and they fit perfectly together! Maruice Jarre - what a composer!

  • uncharted

  • This is a lot of fun to listen to.

  • The thing I love most about this is how it blends different styles of music: Middle Eastern dance and Western military marching.

  • Makes me want to go back to Jordan!

  • @toms1266

    you mean saudi arabia .

  • @7439402345 Aqaba and Wadi Rum are both in Jordan. And I've never been to Saudi Arabia but I have been to Jordan.

  • @toms1266

the arab revolt start from mecca (hejaz) in saudi arabia

the leader of arab revolt is hussain bin ali sharif of mecca from saudi arabia

and aqaba was in saudi arabia but king faisal give it to jordan (Transjordan) in 1946

    google it .

    bye

  • Taking nothing away from the brilliance of both pieces of music, I've always found the main theme here to be remarkably similar to the song 'Born Free'.

    Slower maybe, but nevertheless, similar.

  • @Birdwatchingboy I've also noticed a strong similarity.

  • @Birdwatchingboy Chances are. Part of the melodic main line in both are quite similar but the harmonies and scales therein are different altogether ensuing a rather different spirit. But well there might be something else, who knows

  • fucking fantastico.

  • Fucking EPIC!

  • What recording is this ? It sounds like a recent recording.

  • Love the music, love the movie.

I think I like watching the movie most when it's frigid cold outside. I sit in my nice warm basement near my coal stove and just lose all knowlegde and concern of time, as I place my consious thought into the movie for the next three or so hours.

One of those movies where every frame is a portrait and every sound a symphony.

I try not to have a "favorite" movie. Just a whole bunch of favorites as my #1. And Lawrence of Arabia is one of them.

  • ...touching

  • So touching....make me drop my tear

  • It still gives me Chills.

  • @Speukan I love all good peoples.

  • Magnificent.

  • Este tema es un sueño, uno de mis preferidos, una de las mejores bandas de sonido de todos os tiempos...!

  • @vince89130 600 years but the beat.only against the Turks, all Europeans.

  • @TurkFascists Im guessing you dont like Europeans?

  • Where is the arabs? they Why do not do comments? :)

  • @TurkFascists vive l'empire austro hongrois qui a battu les turks , l'europe quand elle se réveille ça fait mal mec alors ton empire de mes couilles tu te le bouffe et fais pas chier

  • I would say this is truly epic music - and almost certainly the greatest musical score for a film ever, ever, ever written! Virtually incomparable!

  • painful beauty, the trick is not caring that it hurts

  • @Konquistadoren That's exactly how I feel - well said!!!

  • Such a good fucking theme.

  • This movie is not good. It's perfect. Technically, dramatically, musically. With rare exceptions, you won't have films like this. You need a brilliant director like David Lean (talk about directing extras!), a truly inspired composer and a story good enough for all mankind. It's not that is impossible to make a film like this one. The problem is that such talent comes very rarely, especially in these impatient times.

  • This song is the shit

  • @waggleparty so is the waggle party

  • Beautiful music. It matched the scope and substance of the move. It's not easy to compose music to fit those standards.

  • 5 people wish they had "of Arabia" as part of their nickname.

  • 5 ppl are retards

  • I have no idea how this fact has escaped me for so long, but Jean Michel Jarre's dad wrote this. Now, my mind is TRULY blown.

  • @Kurozuguchi I think the fact that before 1980's was prior to American blockbusters completely dominating the uk and other film markets and @LegoCritic the two films you mentioned as works of art were japanese. This draws me to the conclusion that the only countries that appreciate artistic movies are small first world islands off the coasts of a massive continent.

Seriously though Americas domination of the movie industry is causing shunning of the creation of slower-paced artistic movies.

  • @LegoCritic No. Just no.

  • It's music for Chuck Norris' breakfast

  • @TouaregRestaurant OUTRAGEOUS!!!

  • I also think the composer is better than John Williams

  • Comment removed

  • Prince of Persia has no shit over this movie!

  • I love this music so much but I have to say 0:38-1:40 is my favorite part :)

  • @BrokenWind08 agreed

  • @BrokenWind08 00:00 - 4:38 is my favorite part :)

  • @BrokenWind08 is the solo of "la bestia pop" of "patricio rey y sus redonditos de ricota" saxo solo.

  • OMG ! That was amazing , WOW !

  • the most beautiful music ever made in the whole world !

  • I absolutely love this style of music, it's absolutely classic! A stunning peice of music, timeless!

  • So good that the dog enjoyed this music! :)

  • "There may be honor among thieves, but there's none among politicians."

  • America has acted immorally and shortsightedly at times. We have 60 years of reckless oil interventionism to answer for. The damage we've caused can't be ignored or justified.

But we did NOT deserve to be attacked on 9/11. We were right to be angry, and we've been righteous in punishing those responsible. When USA leaves Afghanistan, we all need to just apologize, forgive, grow up, and let it go. Let's all stop pointing fingers, leave each other alone, and just move on. Is that so much to ask?

  • @shaheen5155 "orange, sugar, coffee, sofa, satin, and algebra" are Arabic-derived words in English, and those goods were all introduced to the west by the Arabic Empire in its prime.

How many Arabic words are from English? Car, computer, telephone, television. You're welcome for those. Bank's another one. Loanwords aren't really relevant to the discussion.

  • @scharb

those words are not in arabic language dude....:)sorry disapointing u

    car=sayarah

    computer=hasib

    telephone=hatif

    and

    bank=masrif

    hahahahaa

so,next time dont insert your nose in u some ppl speaking ...this is not good...:)

  • @shaheen5155

    C-A-R >>> See-Ay-Ar >>> سيارة

and those words are all just synonyms of "الكمبيوتير" "التليفون " and "البنك" or my Arabic is no better than your English!

  • @scharb

well....it seems that u r poor in both my freind :)

  • One of the greatest scores in Film History!

  • @ Jacob1951.. I totally agree

  • Such beautiful music about such a wicked, depraved, violent and corrupt nation! It shows you how deceptive appearances can be.

  • @Jakob1951 Don't talk that way about Britain!

  • @scharb You're joking , of course. But if not, I was talking about Saudi Arabia!!

  • @Jakob1951 I'm half joking. Lawrence of Arabia makes a strong, cultural relativist point that neither British nor Arab culture is morally superior to the other. I would say that the Arabs are no less "wicked, depraved, violent and corrupt" than the British Empire at its peak, with its centuries of destructive, reckless imperialism. Apply the same thorough scrutiny to both cultures' history and tell me whether you still believe Arabs to be such "wicked, depraved, violent, and corrupt" people.

  • @scharb Since Christianity has separated Church and state, their wickedness has somewhat diminished. But Islam, what most Arabs subscribe to, makes no such division. And their goal has always been to Islamisize the world any way they can; mostly through terror and murder. The BritSHITS have worked hand in hand with the Arabs; especially in Israel. Therefore, they are also aptly described as SAVAGES - with a thin veneer of stiff upper lip civility. The Arabs, are in-your-face BRUTES!

  • @Jakob1951 Have you ever even met a Muslim, in person? You make these people out to be subhuman monsters! You're seething with hatred. Listen to yourself.

  • @scharb Yes I have. I'm not suggesting they're all bad. But, remember what Arafat told a U.S. reporter when Arafat was caught in a contradiction:"We Arabs have a tradition. We lie". When you look at the Arab media (run by Arabs), it is full of lies from one end to the other; and no protests from their bretheren. Similarly for the terror and murder committed by a minority of them. Also, many of their clerics routinely call for the destruction of the Infidels without a wimper of protest.

  • @Jakob1951 That same nation is the reason your country exists

  • @TheEazyDuzIt95 And what nation is that? If you're suggesting that OIL is the raison d'etre of nations then you're wrong. Oil is a source of energy for now, soon to go the way of the dinosaur. And then Arabia and other oil producers will vanish into flatulant oblivion!

  • @Jakob1951

lots of westerns ppl r talking from fanatic background...arabs never start wars against the west...the west did

just have a look to who kill iraqis & afghans for silly lies

the west have lost thier moralities & that is the beginning of collapsing

western overbearing minds is thier death way

  • @shaheen5155The first thing you have to do is: STAND UPRIGHT. Then take your head out of your ARSE. Now, isn't that better? Take a deep breath, expel the FLATUS from your mouth, and re-learn to perceive, think and then write.

  • @Jakob1951

well...if some like u had think once in his life u wount be a mason slave....:P

  • @shaheen5155 I'm sure you're not a native English writer and that is not what I am protesting. It is your UNBELIEVABLE ASSumption that the West is the cause of Arab violence! That's like saying the murder VICTIM is responsible for the crime! A minority of Arab Moslems are running around the world following the dictates of Mohammed (destroying the unwilling infidels), and when these infidels DEFEND themselves, they're accused of starting wars! What PARANOID, UPSIDE DOWN, STINKING!!!

  • @Jakob1951

    hahahahaha...i will consider ur age for that jak(ASS)..so u r a victom??americans killed 12 million red indians,2 million viatnamees,....and u say u r a victum??

about ur english ...how many araic words been taken from arabic?

how many arabic u speak a day old man??

hahahahahaha u r not just an french or a polish emigrant...u left ur country searching for a job in pizza shop

or in a bar..so,it is difficult to teach rogue like how defend his country...ONE PIZZA 4 TAKEAWAY JAK (ASS):)

  • @shaheen5155 - Take your hero, Mohammed: the list of his victims (even since his death), is MUCH MORE than Indians, Vietnamese,... A victim is someone INNOCENT. That can't be said for the Arab Muslims, who have been the aggressors since the birth of their religion - I don't care how many Arabic words there are in English - I use Arabic several times a day: when I BURP & FART. If I'm old, then you're a DINOSAUR. - Wrong on both counts: I'm neither French nor Polish

  • @Jakob1951

hahahahahaha...yeah old freak u r right about urself nothing u can do but (FART) not because u r very old...because ur mama named u jak(ASS)when she just farted u.

thank 4 proofing my piont that u r just an emigrant...about ur lie about MUHAMMAD PBUH

he never kill 12 million ppl in one country like americans...but how many ur jesus have killed when he said(saly who do not want me to lead on then)u c old fart..killing 4 diffirence in relegion

    wow,that why christians alwayes lose

  • @Jakob1951 Uh, check again. There are some ugly skeletons in our closet. Google "American intervention in the Middle East" and what we did in Iran, especially. The history makes me cringe, because in acting selfishly we violated our most cherished principles. We ally with dictators, then we gladly help them repress democracy. We've made lots of mistakes and are partially responsible for the pre-911 of the Middle East. Their hatred didn't pop up out of nowhere. You're literate. Read.

  • @scharb Supporting the LESSER OF 2 EVILS is par for the course in this world. The Sha was wicked in his own way, but Khomeini was MUCH WORSE. You act as consistently as possible with what is available. When Iran and Iraq were at war. we should have supported both of them so that they could destroy each other!! Joan Peters (FROM TIME IMMEMORIAL) said that even if the US & Israel didn't exist, 9/11 would still have happened! Despite the faux pas of the US, they are far better than most.

  • @Jakob1951 No, I meant Operation Ajax. 1953. The first Iranian Revolution, over the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. The Shah was overthrown and replaced with a western-style Parliament, under the respectable Prime Minister Mossadegh. UK got US involved, the CIA overthrew a democracy and replaced it with the old dictator. We got some sweet oil kickbacks off the whole deal.

Real despicable stuff. Short-sighted and selfish. 60 years later, they're a theocracy that hates us.

  • @scharb LOL!!! That's not why they hate the West. We are INFIDELS. That's why. You're drifting from the point. I originally implied that Arabs are SAVAGES & BRUTES. Yes the BRITS are & were also. But, they're not running around blowing themselves and others up. Where they put their imperialist foot down, they sowed a measure of CIVILITY. The same cannot be said for the Arabs, at least post-Mohammed.

  • "vamos los reeedooondoooooooss , vamo lo reedooooo"

  • John Williams, Howard Shore, Jerry Goldsmith, Hans Zimmer, Bernard Hermnan and now Maurice Jarre goes to my list of EPIC film composers :)

  • @0007Laranja0007 HANS ZIMMER 4 EVA!!!!!!

  • @commentguy743 Zimmer's a shite composer. He's got nothing on Williams, Barry, Jarre, Herrmann Rosza, North and Goldsmith.

  • @RogueRotting360 maybe yur right, but i still wouldn't cal him a shite composer

  • @commentguy743 Maybe not. The guy knows what he's doing, but I think he and Remote Control Productions have helped in homogenising modern film scores. There's not much choice.

  • @0007Laranja0007 James Newton Howard.

  • This movie, and the soundtrack, everything about it, are so epic! This is much like Ben-Hur in its ability to bring us back to the beginning of life on this rock for all of us: the Middle East. I mean, how long does the war between people have to go on? White versus brown, Christian versus Muslim... Britney fans versus Gaga fans. Such a great movie. And, yeah... blood and guts is cool too... but, damn.

  • this was in my marching band's show this year, amazing

  • Seriously, who can actually dislike this sheer awesomeness?

  • This is one of my all time favorite movie scores (and movies). Thank you for sharing. JT

  • 0.56 - "Alone at last"

  • Magnificent, to say the least! You get carried away listening to such piece of art!

  • this is the theme of the desert

  • i loved this movie and the music is so beautiful. tanks soso much for posting!!!!

  • Which Turkish bastard DISLIKED this???

  • @ohmss069

More like a couple of Hans Zimmer fanboys, praising their king of generic movie scores, and turning a deaf ear to the real masters.

  • @McLarenMercedes Hans Zimmer isn't generic, hes just different and modern, just a different style. A lot of what he does is unique and experimental, and I prise him for that.

  • @McLarenMercedes Hans Zimmer is a genious...

  • Spettacolare! Quando i film erano film...

  • Such a great musical composition !!! and Maurice JARRE is a great musician, composer. It's always a very emotional moment for me each time I listen to the wonderful music of "Lawrence of Arabia" . No other comment , except it's a masterpiece of music !

  • Absolutely epic music.

  • Muad'Dib!

  • When they were crossing the desert in the latest Top Gear, I was totally expecting this. And they did it. They used the theme.

  • the score is so beautiful and classic unlike today's soundtracks done by the Cold Hans of Zimmer

  • Noticed a bit of this in the latest top gear :D

  • @cronjy I thought the same thing when watching that episode haha

  • Masterpiece!

  • Best film ever, it manages to be incredibly large-scaled yet perfect in every way.

  • this interpretation is too slow

  • Chills. Simply chills. You know, this has a cameo in the 1977 Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me.

  • I was born in 1953 and living though this "period' our parents had the terriffic movies of the 30's 40's and 50's so to "keep it going certain producers put out consistant quality year after year during the 60's and early 70's. The population didn't seem to care so movies, music, architecture, oh well education everything just "went south... never to be seen again... so sad!

  • @time2act1001

That is a negative way of looking at things. Film quality comes in cycles, as does everything else on Allah's green earth

  • dsadsssssdddddddddddddddddddddddffffffffffffffffffffffrrrrrrrrrgggg

  • Prelepo !

  • "Sherif Ali, so long as the Arabs fight tribe against tribe, so long will they be a little people, a silly people, greedy, barbarous, and cruel, as you are."

  • What a fantastic musical score. Where has all the hard work and talent gone into films these days?

  • I couldn't whistle until I was 19. When I was 19 I practiced everday for a month. I wanted to learn the theme to Lawerence of Arabia and it was the thing I praticed everyday for a month. I held out the notes and could glissando between them and I did so until my simple whistle became as grand as the orchestra. Then I was satisified. My walks to the college were...epic.

  • I loved "LAWRENCE OFARABIA".

  • Geez - its been WAY too long since I watched this movie. To me it's right up there with the best movies of all time!

  • Solo tengo 33 años y aprendi a apreciar lo valioso del cine cuando no solo entretiene, sino tambien enseña. Estoy muy contenta xq mi papi izo que viera esta movie la primera vez.

  • Check out my rendition of lawrence of arabia!

  • Kurozuguchi sums up the grandeur and greatness of the historic film

  • this revolt contribted to the destruction of the Islamic Khaliphate whos capital was

in Istanbul and that resluted in the fragmentation of the Islamic world, the creation of Israel and the displacement of the Palestinians, and then the wars in Iraq Afganistan, This movie should be re-released for it's relevance to the conflicts that are affecting the entire world today.

  • You deceived the British and thus the state of Israel was established. Stupid Arabs.

  • I came to look for this because I read Muse's USoE had influences from this, Queen and of course Chopin... and it is absolutely true.. this is simply amazing, truly great music.

  • AGREED! And wow what a score. I have this movie on VHS, two cassettes, but no longer have a cassette player, just DVD. Thanks for uploading this gorgeous music.

  • More than slightly good..

  • Spellbinding theme music. I just don't know anything like it for it's sheer beauty and grandeur. Soft and yet dynamic.

  • Everyone should support a chinese funded program to turn the sahara into the imperial valley!

  • Yeah, I'd prefer to watch the film after purchasing it, thank you very much.

  • Just beatiful music. Maurice Jarre got a well deserved Oscar.

  • An Irishman playing the most important Englishman on earth! It's fantastic! His role during the Arab revolt was vital, for the survival of England! It's an epic story of true sacrifice!

    I believe he's a prophet!

  • Apologies, I meant the film was played by an Irishman ... obviously T E Lawrence is English. But isn't it a little ironic how an Irishman was selected (Irish being subjected to 500 yrs of control by the Crown) to portray an English who helped the Arabs (who were eventually controlled by the Crown and Elysee Palace).

As an Irishman I'd give my right tooth to travel back in time and assist in this marvel!

  • Actually he was just a gay.

  • This is my high school's fight song!

  • My all-time favorite movie!

I sometimes keep watching the Overture over and over again! It's so damn glorious!

  • My all time favourite movie as well. Arguably the best film made. Sorry Orson.

  • Hi Lee

    Thanks for your message -

I know it's not the Original Soundtrack, but I love the arrangement and intensity of the recording...do you know the conductor or recording this is taken from??

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Peter

  • best soundtrack ever when it starts at 37 seconds! the most beautiful melody ever made!

  • Summer of '85...the first " American Tour" of the Lawrence Re-do.

It just so happened, I was the ONLY person in an entire North Miami Beach theater. The screen was almost wrap-around...perfect for the 120mm film.

  • thank God i have got my own dick its a great movie

  • The music score is absolutely beautiful! It is magnificent. I really love it and it remains my all time favorite music score and the film is indeed the greatest film of all time! Really love the film and the music! Beautiful movie! Peter O'toole is the best actor because he is so good in the role of T.E. Lawrence. He his very convincing! A magnificent actor and the greatest film ever! T.E. Lawrence was one special hero to England. Heroes like these don't come around in history too often!

  • magnificent music!

  • Please tell me which version (recording) this is - Original Soundtrack or another version - the sound is stunning!

  • magique !!!!!

  • one the classics of hollywood's golden age

  • Wonderful movie...never gets old.

  • Très beau ..

  • Incredible.

  • I didn't quite like the movie, it was made 20 yaers before I was born...

    But this song is magical!!!

    It gives me goosebumps everytime!

    It's EPIC!

  • What does your Birthday has to do with this absolute great movie? Are you saying "older" movies are no good? Do yourself a favor and rent or buy some good movies. Google up "Alfred Hitchcock" and start watching..and get a film ecucation..

  • WTF vinola1 & cutegrandma???

I didn't say the movie was bad, I just said I didn't like it that much but it is a good movie.

Do yourself a favor & watch:

    -Hate (La haine)

-Cidade de Deus (city of god)

    -Das Expirement

    -Lola rennt (run lola run)

I don't say older movies are no good, I say I don't like them.

    A film education?

I don't watch a movie like Ebert Roeper watches a movie, I watch a movie to be entertained, because it is entertainment!!!

  • Some films are simply meant as entertainment. Others, however, attain something more.

No one calls the Sistine Chapel "entertainment", but it is a brilliant work of art. Great films can also be genuine art. Many of them are both very entertaining AND works of art.

    All I know is this:

I was born in 1980, and WITHOUT QUESTION the best films I have ever seen were made before I was born.

I did not always possess that opinion, but over time one can not help but see the truth.

  • @Kurozuguchi

    This line is ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!!
