Nintendo missed out on a big opportunity here. The Zelda series is by far one of their biggest cash cows and they could have very easily made millions and broke a few sales records by putting this one on the Virtual Console and marketing it as a "lost game".
@BenHutchinson1 It isn't really a hack, though I don't think this game would be too hard to remake with hacking. It's actually an official Nintendo game that uses almost all of the same sprites and gameplay mechanics as LttP, and is more like an expansion pack that was never released outside Japan. You don't play as Link, instead you choose between a random boy or girl (Pokemon Crystal style) who goes out to save Hyrule, because Link isn't around to do it. Awesome game IMO.
And some text hack going on (wrong dialog), and some dungeon layout alterations. and music that keeps switching between a variety of different Zelda: A Link to the Past songs. and a sprite swap the pendant of courage, replacing it with a yellow block .
Yes it definitely is a hack of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
*AHEM* An interesting game though. The whole concept of the Satellaview intrigues me, I wonder how good this game is compared to other Zelda titles.... doesn't look too long, but it probably would've have been amazing to play this with the broadcasted music and voicing/cutscenes at the time
It was on the Satellaview. It was only released in Japan and was an add-on for the Super Famicom, and even if you had the game for one still, it wouldn't work. The only way to play it is with a SNES emulator. Also, most of the game had to be re-created to be as accurately as possible, this is why it's unplayable in the original form.
It's not coming from the cart. They actually streamed this music to all the systems over the a satellite connection. They also had live voice actors for the game. You should be able to download this music from the Galbadia Hotel if you go there and search for "Legend of Zelda Sound and Drama".
Gah. Sorry for the delayed post here, but for some reason I couldn't post any comments for awhile. Now then, you can get all four roms and the patches that the guys made for this game to run it, as far as I've seen, flawlessly. Apparently, I can't post the address directly on the comments section here, so if you want to know where to get it PM me and I'll hook you up.:)
Heh. I've got a friend that has parents that flip shit whenever he doesn't do or perform exactly as they want him to. It's really annoying for him and myself.
Best thing: Have parents who don't know anything about emulators and roms and stuff. In fact, I was able to play roms at school due to naive teachers.
Dang, listen to that Hyrule Castle arrangement!

Oh my goodness. It looks like Zelda: A Link to the Past with a sprite swap for the main character (some anime girl instead of Link).

It's not Link, though he is referred to in the game (I think).

This happened after Link to the Past, when Link was away, possibly during Link's Awakening.

Try using SNES9x version 1.43. It's the only emulator that I've gotten it to run on correctly so far.

I don't think you can.
This was a Satellaview game.
It probably can't be downloaded because it was broadcasted on BS-X only for 2 years.
