I am good friends with Ian and he did great job going under 3 hours. What Bob and I accomplished was the first ever crossing in 'fine' rowing boats. Just to put it in perspective James Cracknell fell in after a 100m in a coastal boat. Have you ever tried rowing in the side wash of a cross channel ferry...thats why we went from Folkstone.
she crossed in 2003, and i am sure she had her reasons for setting out from shakespeare

Quick but not quick enough. Fastest solo record in a rowed/paddled boat is by ian Wynne 2hr 59mins 6secs, on youtube somewhere,
Why did you go the long route from Folkstone and not Shakespeare beach at Dover?
