Breasts are both sexual objects and sources of nutrition for children, there is no clear delineation between the two, they serve two purposes, naturally there is going to be overlap between the feeling of warmth from the act itself, and the feeling of arousal/pleasure of the physical contact. Breast feeding is natural and healthy for the baby. No one should be ashamed or hide while breast feeding but, there is nothing wrong about being discrete. My wife breast fed and didn't show the world her boobs. Maybe if someone was that desperate to see somthing they could have caught a quick flash but I doubt it. I'm her husband and I couldn't.

My husband and I went out to eat and this woman popped her's out at her table and feed the baby without covering up. Her table was facing the door to the eatery and a kid's softball team walked in as decided to start looking around. The woman remained uncovered. I thought that was offensive.

It's not about breastfeeding, it's about nudity. If you can do it without exposing private parts of your body, go for it. There's never any legit reason to expose private parts of your body in public places. As for those who don't, you are probably not a breastfeeding mother. I have not, nor do I plan to breastfeed with my breast showing! My husband and I went out to eat and this woman popped her's out at her table and feed the baby without covering up. Especially now that there are other ways to feed your child breastmilk without actually having to just whip it out. And its not about breast feeding being "beautiful" either. Thats an opinion.
P.S. i dont mind breastfeeding in public. but it needed to be said IMO.

I cannot believe the ignorance of some people. Whether you believe in God or Darwin, the breast is there on every animal for the same reason: to feed their offspring. I won't nurse my child in a bathroom where people deficate. Would you eat in a bathroom?
A breastfed baby is more likely to be healthier and smarter. Breastfeeding moms are healthier and happier. If formula is so much better, why do they keep trying to market it "as good as breastmilk"? It'll never compare.

I'm tired of people trying to make me feel like a bad mother because I formula feed. I am proud to say that I formula feed my daughter and she is smart, healthy, and not overweight! Almost a year old and still has never gotten sick. I myself am very happy with my life and look pretty damn good for having a baby 9 months ago!

@socalpunky I'm sorry you are so offended. The ignorance I was referring to was the people who view breasts as sexual only. I said "more likely" to be healthier and happier. Formula can never provide antibodies to boost your baby's immune system. Formula will also not trigger a release of endorphins in the mother to help stave off post-partum depression.
I never said anyone who formula feeds is a bad parent. If that iswhat you got from my comments then maybe you are subconcious about it.

The primary function of the teat is for mens enjoyment and amusement. This is why women who don't have ample sweater meat get implants. Or are the implants for baby too? Didn't think so. It's not about breastfeeding, it's about nudity. If you can do it without exposing private parts of your body, go for it. There's never any legit reason to expose private parts of your body in public places. If you want to say it's ok because it's for the babies well being, then what if i had an injury on my privates and i wanted to change the dressing in public? I'd be arrested for indecent exposure. Rules are rules, they apply to everyone, even if you feel you have a good excuse.

Ok, I have breast fed one child and am soon to breastfeed another...I watched this video for informational purposes. I read the comments below, and thank you to those who take up for us! As for those who don't, you are probably not a breastfeeding mother. I have not, nor do I plan to breastfeed with my breast showing! But if you can bottle feed a child in public, you have the right to breastfeed! As for men who object, you don't mind the idea of looking at boobs any other time! Why now?

A questionable assumption, at best, in a society where there are often complaints about women showing too much cleavage, etc... hell, just look at the TV Tropes article "Please Put Some Clothes On."
For what it's worth, I think the best solution for those bothered by breastfeeding is to look away, but really, you're not doing this perspective any favours with your unreasoned assumptions...

Don't like it? Stay at home. My kids got to eat and I'm not paying $25 for a container that will last a day when I can produce all they need for free. Taking care of a baby is more expensive than people realize. Go to wal-mart dot com and fill a shopping cart with everything a baby could need.

I believe they're layering the sight w/their own inner turmoils. They are projecting onto the mother and baby something that just isn't there. One of these projections is the notion that moms are exposing themselves. This is just false. In order for the baby to suckle, the baby needs contact with the breast. That is all that is going on.

we live in a gray world where breasts are both a way to feed a child and to attract a male on a physical level. that means men are allowed to be attracted to well shaped breasts. as for work situation each situation has to be seen as a seperate instance. and every reasonable woman will know what is realistic or not as well as their bosses. and in a few cases this might simply mean they cannot work as a whole because of it.

Why do people always have to make a big fuss out of nothing??? Some women actually care about being discreet, and the make an effort to breast feed being discreet, they know the word "respect", others give a fuck and pull out their breast in front of everyone, to each it's own, some times I watch and get horny for a moment, other times I watch and think how beautiful is the deed, at the end of the day I tip off my hat and go to sleep.

@otomo129 That is exactly the problem. Some mothers are discreet and others are not. Unfourtunatly when officials try to implement ways to reduce the incidence of the non-discreet mothers, those mothers cry foul and claim it to be sexist etc. All the malls and shopping centers where I live have special areas for women to breastfeed in. Its quiet, private and discreet. I dont see the need to breastfeed in full view of a multigenerational public when facilities are avaiable for it.
