so caffeine is 4 parts Nitrogen, 2 parts Oxygen, 3 parts Carbon, and 9 parts Hydrogen?...Holy Cow!!! no wonder it gives you energy...your basically drinking the freakin sun :|
Whats really ineresting is that I have never had any intrest in chemistry but I wanted to learn more about the material used in our nuclear generating plants and now I am literally hooked on these videos.I bet I have watched the christmas video with the tree their no telling how many times.I am pretty certain its not the hair but its pretty cool after you see it a few times and realize that Martin is really brilliant and not nuts lol.It was the mad professor thing at first but it fits perfectly.
if you're gonna talk about caffeine, then maybe you could make some videos about the nitrogen bases in nucleic acids :D... you know, add some bio to the chemistry
I have had a question for a long time, but it's not a chemistry question. What is the book with the 1960s-style cover, the one with the picture of a man with enormous hair? It's next to the Basher book, Elements with Style, on the shelf behind the Professor.
@1:00 It's actually pretty simple to understand: protons have smiley faces because they're 'positive'; neutrons have indifferent faces because they're 'neutral'; and electrons have frowns because they're 'negative'.
@GromTastic That's because you are a Copper + Nitrogen + Thulium + Arsenic + Tellurium + Rubidium + Oxygen + Yddrium. WORK THAT ONE OUT AND GET BACK TO ME!
Mr. Phelps.... Here's a physical problem if you chose to accept it. It's a 3D symmetry kind of thing. In the choice between hollow sphere and solid sphere; which is the most likely for space spheres? For example earth, moon, mars? I say you have to believe one configuration and you can puzzle the other. You have to kind of "proclaim" the solid configuration, but you can "puzzle" the hollow configuration. It's a pretty old problem, about as old as gravity and mass.
Have you ever considered releasing your videos in 3D? There's a 2 x 3.5 metre 3D screen in my school and I think the science department would appreciate some more educational videos to their collection... ;D
I would have got a photo of the other day in Sixth Form when testing for ketones and aldehydes with the 2,4-DNPH test, but ho-ha, the school forgot it was 2 years out of date.... so it didn't work...
Did you just understand the cryptic irony of 2,4-DNPH for a photo to send you? ;-)
