i just got sony vegas and all of my videos formatted to avi only go into the audio boxes, and all my quicktime formatted videos only go into the video boxes. So if i played a quicktime video it wont have any audio, and vise versa with the avi ones. Is there a way I can fix this so that the avi's go into the video boxes, or do I have to re-format everything?

I dont see 1001 sound effects either but I have it from Acid7 but the music is on the MS9 disc folder> content>music. Load it to your harddrive and use the explorer tab to access it...its quite good quality...HTH

I had that problem before, try saving your video in DV Widescreen. It should still save in good quality but it shouldn't lag. =]

i have a question, i have movie studio and every time i import a clip, it has no audio or voice that my camcorder records. I have found that regular Sony Vegas automatically imports the sound, but the only way i can do it is if i publish my clip in windows movie maker, which is very strenuous......PLEASE HELP!

If you mean narration, just record your voice in a sound program. I'd recommend Sony Soundforge but you could even use the basic windows sound recorder if you are stuck. Save it in wav or mp3 format and then just add it to the timeline like a video clip

Place the Application disc that you received from your purchase in your computer disc drive. When the Setup screen appears, select "Browse Disc". In the window that opens, navigate into the Content folder. Then right click on the folder that says 1,001 Sound FX. Choose Copy. Now go to your My Documents folder (or a folder on your computer where you would like to store the sound files) and Paste (Right-click > Paste or Edit > Paste).

It's the same disc used to install the Sony program, all of the stuff should just be on the one disc.

Most of these import problems were addressed in the official patch from Sony. There was a tendency for mov files to be missing audio and mp4 files missing video

Yes you can. Vegas has some very powerful audio non real time event effects. To get a telephone effect right click your audio, select Apply Non Real Time Event FX and select Track EQ. Set frequency to around 2787 gain to -inf and rolloff to -12 (all on the Low Shelf setting)

If your file has sound encoded in the AC3 format, then Studio sees it as a muxed video file.

There are 2 options to fix this, demux it using a free converter like MPEG Streamclip (Google it) which will give you seperate audio and video tracks.

Alternatively, upgrade your Vegas Studio to 9b where, and I quote Sony here:

"Fixed a bug that prevented Vegas Movie Studio from opening the audio streams of MPEG-2 files that use stereo AC-3 encoding"

Try resetting Vegas by holding down CTL and SHIFT whilst opening the program. It will reset most things to default. Are there any sounds when you just play these videos through Windows Media Player?
