Here's a twisted story behind the scenes: For Underworld, Kate Beckinsale asked director Len Wiseman if she could have her boyfriend/baby-daddy Michael Sheen in the film. Wiseman said yes, so Sheen got to be in it as Lucian. But somewhere along during filming, Beckinsale and Wiseman somehow fell in love, and when Underworld was over, Beckinsale left Sheen and took their daughter to be with Wiseman.

Underworld is nothing like Twilight. Sure it has vampires and werewolves but those legends have been around for ages. That is like saying "Interview with a Vampire" is similar, in any way, to "The Wizard of Oz".

There are no sparkly vampires, nor are there pretentious teenagers pretending to be in love. This movie is fun to watch, and rewatch. It is action packed and unique.

I would recommend this film to any of my friends no matter the occasion.

scottishmuffin is right. Twilight and Underworld are two different kinds of vampire films. The Underworld saga is great for action, but Twilight wasn't trying be what Underworld was. In the same way Underworld doesn't have the acting chops of a artistic serious Drama like "Interview with the Vampire" or "Bram Stoker's Dracula". Underworld couldn't hope to match the quality story of "Interview". But it wasn't trying to. Underworld is about Action, not Drama.
