  • ( for me it would be the liberals, conservatives,NDP,or the Green party) but like "Rock the Vote" held in 2004? and also how other political bands (Rage Against The Machine, The Grateful Dead) voiced their views towards such issues.

  • Krist, im the one that you were going to send me your speech you made last year at Sacto State, for the Rock Party i was going to make on facebook... :( but also on the topic of politics and music, there should definately be a way that bands (Rock or not, whatever the genre may be) can voice their opinions on the social and mass media issue (the 4 Agents of Socialiaztion : Family,Friends,School,Mass Media) in a way that reflects their type of gouvernment that they want

  • im confused here

  • I still have a mass learning to do with politics. I just don't care unless it partakes in my life directly, or towards someone near me. I'm too selfish to try and control others. I can just end up seeing individuality and revolutions taking complete control. I can't let education get in the way of my knowledge... i may forget where my feelings reside towards people.

  • I just found out that, in some states, if you're a Democrat who wants to vote Republican or vice versa, you have to officially change parties, and that, in case you vote for another party's candidate without officially changing parties, your vote is not going to count. Why complicate things like that? and most importantly, how many people are aware of this?

  • I learned about this in AP History today. Thanks Krist!

  • I'm French and I didn't even know who was Alexis de Tocqueville.

But now I know, thanks to Krist Novoselic and Wikipedia...

  • do you know what's happening in Spain? i don't understand english very well but i think that it's good to talk about this in this video

  • @jamesan90 Do you mean Libya?

  • @motocarnage615 i'm talkin about #spanishrevolution. I wanted to talk about this because i don't know if in US people know something about this and i think it's important

  • and for congress

  • one thing our politcs have is that its just black & white, republicans and democrats, other countries like mine, have a bunch of parties running for a presidential term

  • Most people are disinterested in the political process these days because they lack a voice. Politicians from both parties have shown they don't care what the people think. For example, the VAST majority of Americans want out of Iraq, but despite Obama's assurances, we're on track to stay past the 2011 deadline. When one party wont sell out, the other will. And the people are the ones that reap the consequences.

  • Krist, Will you do a tutorial on how to toss a bass in the air and catch it with your face?

  • Hey Krist!

  • Wow, it's so cool and weird at the same time to be commenting a person like Krist's Youtube channel, especially because it isn't just full of a bunch of comments like this one. This guy has played in front of thousands and is known by millions and he's reading my comment, cooooooooool. I'm starstruck in a weird way.

I'd post something more relevant to the video, but I'm not at the age of caring yet. Sorry! Tragic, I know. ;D

  • I think escalators are all part of the big complot!! Damn you hippies!

  • wat does this have to do with escalators?....

  • Andy Kaufman!

  • Your lucky i dont have time to get into one of my political rants about this kinda shit, causse this joint aint smokin itself!

  • I have to agree with greenTaurosguy opinion man. Here in the uk the main problem is the same- you have to educate yourself about politics, becuase you don't get to learn about it in school- i can't remember a single fucking time in 11 years that a lesson even touched on the subject- oh apart from the politics involved in the second world war in history class. - it's very clever, creepy engineering of the masses, Wake the fuck up and educate yourselves- dont let it happen to you.

  • After watching this a given amount of times, it really just flew over my head. I tried to get what he was saying maybe since it was animatronic sounding or the way he worded it I just didn't get it. Maybe if it was a real person talking about it and putting it in simpler terms for someone like me that doesn't understand the whole government thing I'd get it. Though keep up with these types of vids not the whole GoAnimate mess but talking about government it's bound to sink in haha.

  • Without the elimination of the political party and lobbyists America will never be free.

  • I think the whole "intellectual bond" part is the problem these days. People aren't necessarily stupid, just generally uneducated when it comes to politics. I think if people would really research into the different parties and options available to them and formulate their own opinion then we could easily change the political landscape. The whole them versus us, democrats versus republicans system is just so exhausted. So I guess re-education for the masses?

  • @GreenTaurosGuy Great point! There are issues like ballot access barriers to keep people away from political association. It's troubling that many in the USA have a negative perspective towards parties. The two major parties deserve the scorn but it seems like folks throw out the baby with the bathwater. In DC or state capitals there are private associations all over the place. People complain about the "special interests" but at the same time seem to hold political association in low esteem.

  • @zippy1avion But is formal, party-style association really a prerequisite for political change? I mean, there were and still are 'official' opposition parties in Iran but only when the unorganized masses rose up did they almost achieve change in 2009, and they would have two if it weren't for the Pasaran (Revolutionary Guards) gunning people down. Look at the Arab Spring, they're toppling regimes, and they're not really 'associated' in the way you're talking about. What do you think Krist? :O

  • @shayaan2354 *Pasdaran

  • @GreenTaurosGuy

intelligence is for dumb people. plain and simple.

  • @odiumimbues Thank you very much for your feedback.

  • @GreenTaurosGuy You nailed it my friend!!!!

  • @zippy1avion Thanks Novie, though I'm still pretty young and uneducated myself. :P I've never understood why "special interest" groups have been regarded so poorly either. What is your opinion on a third major political party emerging in America's landscape today? Is there any literature you would recommend reading?

  • we can all do something about this, call your congress man!

  • I don't get what this video has to do with escalators, but i guess escalators are pretty annoying, especially when you have a fat person in front of you and you cant get past them.

  • @bigtaree there's a certain video you should probably see then

  • I used Go Animate briefly in my animation class last year. I don't dig it very much, you make stuff that was already created by someone else! I think you took it and used it in a good way, making it informative and stuff. (When are YOU going to speak on this subject? Does this person already say everything you have to say?)

  • Awesome! My mom gave me some old copies of Alexis' books after she saw me watch this video. Can't wait to read them.

  • He played the bass in Nirvana, now he makes YouTube videos. Rock on, Krist :D

  • I feel compelled to write my senators!

  • I don't like Go-Animate. It reminds me too much of Family Guy

  • You know what really annoys me? People standing on escalators! I think we should all do something about this.

  • @TheDunkaccino That is a testament to human laziness!

  • @TheDunkaccino --- Dude - I still don't stand on escalators - unless the people ahead of me are standing. But really? What do you think about political association and its potential to provide "the much needed balance to the concentration of power by the entities that dominate politics"?

  • @zippy1avion I walk with a cane and I Still walk up the damn thing. my favorite is when someone standing on the escalator is right next to someone walking up the stairs all the way up.

  • @zippy1avion so now you wait if ppl ahead of you are standing? That was NOT what I was hearing in 1991 Krist. Haha. But on the serious side, I would rid the landscape of Republican/Democrat across the board. My feeling is that the numbers of people who strictly vote for one singular affiliation across the board is rising and if people maybe took more time to learn and study which individual they feel would better represent said office and ignore if their forehead is red or blue would be a start

  • @zippy1avion And in addition to that comment, I need to say this. You and a guy named Kurt changed my life forever and the expressions of artistic soundwaves you guys made will forever be appreciated for generations to come. Just so glad to be able to tell you that to where you'll see it. Keep living life Krist!!!

  • @zippy1avion

Krist what's your view on a partyless governing system/some sort of randomised meet of individuals

  • @AidanMusik "randomised meet of individuals" I don't get the randomized part but a meeting itself is an association. Lot's of people picking up on the Americans Elect effort. The on-line nomination is going to interesting.

  • @zippy1avion

Sorry. All I meant was a chamber of elected politicians quite literally randomly seated

  • @zippy1avion He means individualism. Where each person is their own country, their state, and their self owned business.

There is no popularity contest to give choosing orders to a single entity. For example, lady gaga, she has as much energy surrounding her as the president. Since energy is equally hate and love energy (like hitler vs jesus), both tuning in will get heard. This means true democracy has a time to shine. It means if you do not agree with one whole decision you can avoid it.

  • @zippy1avion I don't see why everyone is still having trouble figuring this out. The answer has been there since the beginning.

Individualism, altruists, and pure democracy. Not the plastic democracy that has stemmed from our country....I mean true democracy where you cannot regulate this many people on one order. its ridiculous.

EVeryone become their own country, state, and presidency. Take control of urself and nothing more. Become selfless and act as an animal.

  • @odiumimbues Well, we are animals, and we are made to be competitive. Some of us handle our basic and most aggressive instincts pretty well, some of us don't. Survival is not as easy as you imagine it. Don't get me wrong, I would love to live in a world were reason and emotions were balanced so we wouldn't need an authority figure to regulate us, but reality is, this can't happen. Some of us keep dying for having something to eat! Do you think the world can be reasonable while being hungry?

  • @TheRealJohnSkinny *Not having something to eat.

  • @TheRealJohnSkinny the people with enough power to mess things up have more than enough power to eat.

And again it shouldn't matter if everyone just worried about whats in front of them, what they can sense, like in buddhism. But with an imagination like that of quantum.

  • @odiumimbues You're mixing a scent of idealism with a mistaken perception of humankind. Not everyone is capable of being responsible -I mean truly responsible- with themselves. I too wish we were all capable of doing so and being reasonable enough too live healthy, just and peaceful lives, but it is just not possible. Sorry for killing a wonderful utopia, but I won't buy it. Power corrupts, you know that. When there's not a higher authority in some people's lives, they go berserk with it.

  • @TheRealJohnSkinny its not a utopia.. it is the key to stop making your god filthy with names and religions. It is the key importance of understanding that everything is delicate, the internal world, and the external.

If i were to look at government with only the external world, it would be anything full of matter, it is meat, blood, concrete, metal and paper.

Yet they have so much power over your internal world from miles away because why?

  • @TheRealJohnSkinny its all just boredom wrapped up in a big bow tie. If you gave everyone a guitar and sat them down the world would stop for an hour. Or maybe these fuck ups running the country can pay more attention to their families.

running politics is like running roulette. No matter what strategy you think you can do, whatever you think you can devise to beat the house, the odds are still.. the odds!

  • @odiumimbues I'm not denying that! I'm just saying that 'making' people realize (because this doesn't come by pure personal initiative) all those things you said, that they can be their own state and their own regulator and actually put that in practice with generalized 'good intentions', is extremely hard, maybe impossible. It's not as easy as giving a guitar to everyone, because the 'mainstream' mentality is to do the exact opposite: to rob, to kill, to manipulate, etc.

  • @odiumimbues Nevertheless, we should give up on trying to change the world. That's what utopias are for: to walk.

  • @TheRealJohnSkinny I like that answer. Utopias are the REAL motivation in life, but equally so is fucking everything up. If you dissect every right answer you find out it has an equal and opposite answer.

You can spin it and spin it on any finger you wish, eventually it stops, and someone else spins it.

nature is governing all right now.

I am sorry if i sound abrasive, but all answers lead to nature. why its not an option anymore.. who knows...

  • @odiumimbues *Shouldn't

  • @TheRealJohnSkinny I like living in utopia, if i keep my world in my head it will continue to spread vibes to change it that way.

its highly spiritual, but realistic, and its not offensive. its easier to just say never mind ya know?

  • @zippy1avion Krist, run for presedent,

  • @zippy1avion I always thought you were supposed to stand on escalators. I just figured the guy who created them must be lazy. Though I always walk up them, it's funner.

  • @TheDunkaccino HAHAHA!
