mediapostle - wrong on all accounts. Wonder wrote the song. Beck covered it on Blow By Blow on which he dedicated the song to Roy Buchanan (which is pretty evident if you've ever heard RB play - JB is clearly doing Beck doing Buchanan).
I am a little confused. I have a Gary Hoey CD that has this song on it and it is really
sweet. More mellow than Jeff Becks version, just my opinion. Your version sounds more like the Gary Hoey version. Am I wrong, or did you try to duplicate the Gary Hoey song?
I have listened to Jeff Beck do this song on several You Tube videos and they don't seem to stand up to Gary's version. Sound a little too harsh, not like your take on the song.
No mediapostle, it was most definitely written by Stevie Wonder for his first wife Syreeta and appeared on her album a full year before Beck covered it....it's common knowledge, but if you still don't believe me do a little research....
@janmurph hey man there are lots of speakings already, we don't know surely who wrote songs for who and stuff, just like we heard that Beck wrote Superstiton for Wonder and all...you know, maybe you're right, but why do you have to be so rude? peace, man, listen to the great cover, and don't hung on shit like this...
outstanding. a great rendition of a truely great piece of music. i have recently started to work on this piece myself, i find it so moving and relaxing all at the same time....and not to mention, inspirational. you my friend have proved that this piece is reachable. using a baja telecaster for this piece, the tonal variety makes for some wonderful humbucker-like sounds and almost have it down, but not quite like you. What kind of amp are you using? ever play it with the trem? very nice job!
another great job...I also, as Uncle Tom stated, wonder if you spend too much time in the cellar. You nailed it at the 4:20 mark. Is that the Uncle Tom from SF?
Thanks washburn.......yes that's thee Uncle Tom from SF CA ......and thanks for the concern but I hibernate in my basement till motorcycle season (spring)!!
Most of your previous stuff has been Ronnie Wood guitar but doing this song by Beck has moved you to a new level. Did you cover yourself in baby powder? Congratulations and you're spending WAY too much time in the basement!
Beck recorded this tune with a Tele that had Seymour Duncan humbuckers and a Les Paul neck on it. Which is why it sounds more like a Gibson than a Fender!
I tried a Strat first, it was a lot easier to hit all the bends, but it just didn't sound right...when he plays it now he uses a strat but is sounds much thinner than on the recording. I prefer that thick humbucker sound on this tune.
great job!

good balance with the background music lots of people tend to over power it and it just ends up sounding like a mess but you did a great job with it

Jan, that was probably the best cover I've ever viewed. You really nailed this one :)
I really like all of your vids. I'm also a big fan of your Stevie Ray Vaughn cover. Good luck in the future and hope to see more new stuff from you.

thanks a lot twickrnham......the amp is a Fender Blues DeVille with 4x10 speakers.
I did try it on a strat with a trem bar first, but I just didn't like the tone..
Beck recorded it originally using a Tele with Seymour Duncan Humbuckers.......

But I am little bit puzzled on why you did not use your Strat !
