  • hahah most random guy ever

  • Well done!

For a sick SP1200-beat in a different style you might want to check my channel.

    Peace

  • hes white and knows how to make a beat what happened to this world !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Instinct1eR uh you might want know about PAUL C, who expanded the use of the sp1200 samples back in the 80's along with CED GEE(ULTRAMAGNETIC MCS) OHH yeah Paul C was WHITE!

  • Yo that beat is INSANE! I want it!

  • --- SP1200 BOOK OFFICIAL ---

    see website : sp1200-thebook. com

  • lucky u got one lol =]

  • His voice reminds me of Eyedea (undergound MC 4 those who dont know) yet

his voice has nothing 2 do with the theme of this video. The video's about a classic sequencer/sampler. Back in the day it was the E-mu SP 1200, the Ensoniq asr 10,

and the Akai Mpc 60(w/ Roger Linn's help). B4 Reason, Fruity Loops, Acid & a billion computer programs came out. I wanna make it clear that im NOT hating on grid-based drum programs at all.Analog&Digital. Just show respect 4 the

    old school&Mattech. sick beat

  • i wonder how 808 sounds on this

  • 10 sec of sample is good enough!!!

  • @snowdjagha

    10 seconds....less is better.

  • Wigger

  • Nice little beat. Would have liked to have seen how the SP actually works though... Like what makes it different and/or better than an MPC?

  • LOL @ some of these comments.I kinda think he sounds like the comedian Ralphie May.Nice beat though !

  • diss nigga sound like george buush

  • 10 sec of sampling is pityful, really pathetic

  • @AntiCrackerLiberals N'ah son, you just need skills & you need to think outside the box. The Sp1200 is still the best sampler money can buy, get an s950 & you're unstoppable

  • @AntiCrackerLiberals (For you it is....)

  • @AntiCrackerLiberals think of what youre saying... the golden age of hip hop is made on this machine. pathetic? you, dude,...

  • blabedy blabedy blah. nice beat tho.

  • Dude sounds like John Waters. (lol) "For those of you who don't knoh-ow."

  • sp 12 hunderrr and hundered

  • how much was ur Sp????

do u think 400 is to much for an sp???

  • @PULSEREACTION714 hahaha man if i could find one for 400 i'd buy 3 of them

  • @RUDOLPHLYRICS Good luck...

  • @PULSEREACTION714 them shits go for 1000-1500, I'd flip if someone had one for 400, even if it was broken

  • nice beat

  • weak stuff

  • why do people prefer the sp 1200 to the mpc range? I got myself an mpc 500 and i love it! surely it cant just be for nostalgic reasons. what am i missing?

  • @DJDieWille

modern mpcs (500, 1000, 2000, 2500, 5000) are very "digital" sounding, rending exactly what it eat !

sp1200 is a 12bit sampler, so whene you pitch up or down a sample it "degrade" the sound

it gives more tone, some kind of ols sounding timbre

  • My sp1200 arrives in 2 weeks, payed 2 grand for it. I've used them a few times, this thing walks all over my quad core mac pro.

  • dope

  • People dont got any respect for the roots and the true art of beat making. ILL beat man, props. sp classic joint.

  • Stupid fools...this thing right here is a beast!!! ...yeah u can hook the latest EQPMENT to the computer "USB" but one they forgot about...is keeping that full heavy beastly sound quality...if your just tryna make a buck or two of your beats then go ahead and get the "Latest" gear "idiot"...leave the fun to us!!!

  • fuckin old and shit

  • muh fukkaz talkin shit...but that beat is nice

  • speak proper american... good oxymoron

  • haha, the guy is obviously a clown.

  • "speak proper american?"

dont remember there being a language called "american."

  • They made the madvillainy album off of this system

  • yeah, plus a lot of other albums from the early 90's. pete rock was a big user of the sp1200

  • @mrdonovan213

    OMG so true

  • yeeah dr dre use it and dj quick

  • amazing cd

  • sp owns

  • Where you can find one :O it's so rare even on eBay :(

  • that is a sickkk

  • yo,can i ask u something?can u explain me what did u mean when u said that u had only 10 seconds?im not american nor english nor something like that,and i cant understand much.thanx!

  • thats how much time you get to sample...with the sp 1200 you only get 2.5 seconds of sample time for each pad bank...it has four banks, that comes to 10 seconds all together.

  • hm,i see.and when u finish,it repeats ur work all the time u want, right?or theres a limit for that too?

  • per sample

so you have to make small chops

  • too much speech,

    annoying

  • dude,what the?!

This is one of the BETTER videos of this sampler.

    what you talking bout..

  • I think im in love!!!!!!

    this shit is soo sickk!

  • dope.

  • holy crap dude, you sound just like the cat from the movie Hustle and Flow! You know the one who made the beats for DJay haha! Anyway dope beat. I really like the drum pattern. If you want to sample a longer sample, can't you change the sample rate where you can exchange clarity for sample time?

  • Bad ass beats...5 stars.

I wish someone would give a thorough video tutorial on how to use the 1200's filters.

  • Wicked beats!

    Really like Blink'n Lights

    Peace

  • sp 1200 over MPC all day

  • no way..

  • i agree, sp over mpc the harder it is to make a beat the nicer it comes out, thats why we have alot of wack beats cus kids are buying mpcs and making wack shit

  • really im confused of which one to by my mate has an mpc and its seem easyer than this

  • mpc is easier to find this is some rare vintage shit.. im also confused but i would by both

    first mpc and later sp

    get mpc 2500

5000 doesn't worth the extra cash fuck it

  • thats the conclusion i had sort of come to today....i found a second hand near mint condition 2500 for 550

  • 25oo is weak as fuck too..you going to get a real peice get a mpc60 or a mpc3000 if you perfer it a bit higher in the sound resolution department...i like it dirty..12bit all day..sp1200 and mpc60/ peace.

  • yeah u have rite but its hard to find those vintage units these days..

    and are over-priced like fuck

    i'll be getting mpc60 and sp1200

  • pete is classic. but i feel like his newer shit is a sign he's fallin off like premo did for a while

  • funky

  • no long loops? how can u say that? i always use 2 or 4 bar loops and then add drums plus percussion and basslines too... all in the SP. single floppy shit.

  • was this machine before the MPC?

  • 3 years before the first mpc ye

  • really? didnt the mpc 60 come out in 89?

From Only Built For Cuban Linx to the rise of Duck Down.

    thanks

  • COL TRUE SCHOOL BEAT BRO. I like it!!! Good job.

  • fly ass muthaf%*kin beat fam..

  • I have one for sale, $1300. Get at me for pictures and any questions. Obviously you have a demonstration of what this powerful machine is capable of right here.

  • Yo hommie nice video where you located out of? Cali?

  • get serious man, 10 secs is enough to sample 4 bars in 81.0 bpm (when you pitch it down), and STILL add kick, snare, hihat and a shaker to the beat, done it 100 times man. check my vids.

  • True, in fact I use a ASR and now that I think about it, I don't think I use much more then 10 seconds for a beat. I never had the chance to work with the 1200. I messed with the sp12 when I was like 15 or something. But I didn't know how to use it much. I would just sample like a bar of something, and find a drum break and sample a bar of that and that was it lol. By the way fredfades tight beats on your page bro

  • thanks alot man. so youre from south oxnard, cali? and youre using the ASR. thats nice. you heard about kankick? hes from Ox, rockin the ASR. my favourite producer.

  • Yeah I know about Kankick, he's been around for a while. One of the top guys in the Ox.

  • I'm from the school of Pete Rock and Large Professor, etc. What makes the SP so dope is that when chop samples it gives it a very distinct sound. If I wanted to sample a 1 or 2 bar loop, I'd hook up the MPC or S950, or ASR. But to me it's all about chopping everything you sample and giving it your own sound, not just a loop with a drum pattern.

  • Good stuff.. Are you from Kentucky?

  • It's that sound, nothing does to samples what a SP 1200 does. Nothing can re-create that grittiness. Long love early 1990s hip-hop!

    Very nice beat.

  • cowboy beats.

  • lol @ Soul Students.........doesn't get no more lame and whiter than that.

  • also the sp1200's are a shitload cuz they dont make them no more
