My Mum was OBSESSED With Eddie cochran through-out my childhood and as a kid I honestly didnt get it - he was a bit before her time too so it all seemed very dated to me...ok I get it now Mother - what a beautiful boy he was :) x

@rickyvale I believe the taxi driver is still alive and living in the Bristol area, a friend of mine tracked him down a few years ago to try and get his side of the story.

Apparently he had been driving Gene and Eddie around showing them some of the local sights before the fateful night. What I dont know is why he was driving so fast.

He was in a taxi in London in 1960 that blew a tire and hit a pole. He died in the accident.

50 pounds or 6 months prison, that was the price of Eddie's life. What a shame
