  • Jajajaja ..... can you imagine a Planewalker common or not in the game ? Time passes by ...

  • Lol! Vampire Nocturnus isn't tournament playable?

  • @PsychoPlatypus815 Ah... memories. LOL

  • @PsychoPlatypus815 Well at the time they recorded this, Zendikar wasn't yet released and no, Vampire Nocturnus was not at all tournament playable.

  • I used to play when i was a kid and I started to play again 1 1/2 year ago and when I first opened a planeswalker I was like wtf is that?? and the first thing i did was goin on the magic website to check how it was played so Mythic it is, Mythic it should!

  • Lol that cracked me up...

"Are you comparing Dragon Broodmother to Bitterblossom?" <------ Lolz

  • i think the 'walkers should be rare at the most, it took me until literally the last pack of two boxes of shards to finally get my elspeth, and like only one other planeswalker, while i got like 3 punish ignorance and other crap rares, which would be a lot better if planeswalkers were rare and not mythic

  • Ugh I know. It's frustrating; and buying singles can get costly when buying T2.

  • oh i know, i just spent my paycheck on a set of the new jace :-(

  • Planewalkers as commons? No, you sir, are wrong!!!! That would ruin the game. Planewalkers are a good idea made great by the rarity. They have a ridiculous power level to be commons. Do you even play magic, or just talk crap to LSV. I mean really?

  • planeswalkers shouldent be common or uncommon becouse the game needs a card that when you see it you have to love it. them being low rate cards would suck cause they would just be like legends and other things that used to be great but thats just my opinion

  • I think the difficulty of planeswalkers is way overrated. You guys are treating them like they've completely changed the basic rules of the game, and they haven't. Sorcery speed, once per turn, follow the rules on the card, damage is dealt as though they're a player.

  • Tony has another good point, planeswalkers aren't really that confusing, I mean if a new player can understand the difference from a enchantment and artifact or a equipment and a aura, then planeswalkers are nothing more then 1 ability per turn sorcery speed ability enchantments with an extra liability that is a secondary life total.

  • I feel like the planeswalker rarity was explored thoroughly within a few minutes. After that, I felt that it was very repetitive and the time could have been spent with additional topics.

  • I love the idea of basic planeswalkers

  • Thanks for all the sweet comments on the vids. We definitely read them all, taking them into account for the next show.

I know the PW portion went long, we just lost track of time. I'm just happy some of you actually agreed with me and not the ole sidekick . . . hehehe . . .

  • "do you think people would come out more if a better card was guven away?"

...yea...so far the only DCI card I actualy use in a deck is slave of bolas....and it was countered tonight so I still have not technically "played: it yet. other than that maybe kitchen finks...F a vampire card no one will use.

  • Planeswalkers also need to be Mythic because of Limited. Players often forget about Limited when arguing what rarity a card belongs at.

  • I agree with that but did you ever get two garruks in your limited ceck? Having two same rares at a limited event is rare. And if two players have garruk in limited, they just cancel each other out if both hit the board.

I really think having mythic garruk is just a way to increase price and rarity. For now, its ok because all those planeswalkers have been out for two years and are not so rare. Mythic cards just got better and better in every sets since shards of alara.

  • Hey guys, Great show, interesting material. Ditch the terrible HUD though. Just sit in some nice chairs and talk about the cards. Screen pop-ups are ok, but you should go with like a movie reviewer set up. The current HUD looks very highschool. my 2 cents.

  • Mythic rarity is just a way for wizards to have more boosters opened and raise the price of individual cards.

As said in the video, when Mythic came out, it was supposed to be fun and not cards you would play 4 of's competitively. Garruk, Jace and Ajani have all proven to be doing good in T2 tournamnets decks running 4 of them. Playsets of garruks were easily worth 100$ with a Rare rarity in Lorwyn. How much with Mythic rarity? .

Good video I just wish you had pointed that out.

  • Nicol bolas planeswalker isn't a 4 of. etc etc

The ones you mentioned as being a 4 of, were printed before as just plain rares.

The price of a play set of ajani, jace, garruk will only decrease atm. The release of garruk with the new game on xbox360 has decreased its value, aswell as the simple fact people already had 4 of each of those planeswalkers b4 m10.

Our only concerns will be when $40 mythic rare planeswalkers become 4 of's.

Which proberly won't be long :(

  • of course, more garruk printed, less rarity, less value but like you said

"our concerns will be $40 mythic rare planeswalkers become 4 of's."

    thats exactly what i meant.

  • Thanks for clearing it up. Elspeth is the closest here to 40 bucks AUD atm. Luckily it's not a 4 of.

I can see a "good stuff" deck being made soon and I'm sure baneslayer angel will eventually see play when it finds a home.

  • This other guy should shut his mouth and just listen to LSV

  • Possibly. But that's not the reason he's there.

  • I think that would make the show a little more boring, plus I like to think I'm more than just a pretty face . . .

  • Take my advice. Debate is great when it comes to geeky stuff I know I used to do a show, but when you (the dude that's not LSV) are shot down time after time with great logic on a point you feel strongly about, let it go after 2 times mentioning it and go on. Plainswalkers should so be Mythic!

  • I play at prereleases and release parties. I rarely do sealed now, i only do sealed when its a worthwhile card. I.E. Timespiral, Eventide,Shards. I draft now cuz its more cost effective. I manage to pick up the promos at the event for 3 bucks usually when its a mediocore card. I.E. Nocturnus and Broodmother.

  • My vote goes for Planeswalkers at Rare. Mashi is right, new kids need to see the new stuff. I don wanna see really bad planeswalkers But atleast rare level. Planeswalkers can be auto 4x. So i rather not have to shell out 10-20 per.

A new kid playing magic does not see him/herself as a planeswalker. I don even think a kid knows what a planeswalker is starting off. I think a kid can relate to a planeswalker also. Oh its someone that casts spells also just like me. etc.

  • lol 3 bucks per card is too much for thsoe shitty promos.

  • i went to a pre release and i had a great time i was very dissapoint in the pre release card tho after opining my first boster and pulling two undead slayers for one white and 2 other its a 2/2 with activade ability one white tap undead slayer and exole target skeleton VAMPIRE or zombie so i mean it almost seems as if u run the pre release card in your deck undead slayer will be sure to shut it down much would of rather had bane slayer or maby ever honor the pure altho its in the white them deck

  • That's like saying you get Ant Queen and you open a pack with Doom Blade... It's like if you play the card... Doom Blade would... shut it down? Why am I even replying to this...

  • yes you are right but doom blade is only a 4 time max use without getting cards back out of your grave yard and doom blade does not exile them to this creature can just stay out equip him with wisper silk and hes got shroud then he can sit there and keep exiling there for its completely diffrent

  • u cant play ur friggin prerelease promo in your sealed deck....

  • planeswalkers aren't that complicated imo.

They are really interesting, i jumped into magic cuz I saw planeswalkers (ma 4 Jaces).

And you can research them if they seem interesting.

  • the plainswalkers do alienate older players returning...Example?

    this guy

  • Don't forget that in the case of Demigod, and Ajani... the cards weren't valued nearly as high as they ended up when they were announced. People traded away Ajanis like crazy when that was pre-re foil.

  • the planeswalker discussion was a bit too long, tbh. Let's hope wotc listens to you guys, I'm not sure how many crappy prerelease foils my binder can take. Outtakes were funny, nice show.

  • I agree with LSV. Only competitive players need to know how to use planeswalkers. Most casual players won't have a planewalker B/C of its raredy so they dont need to know th rules

  • When I started back up after I played from Antiquities to Prophecy I when to the local FNM and got hosed by Plansewalkers and no one really explaned all the rules so that I would not deal with them, EVEYONE needs to know Planeswalker cards they are not Vangaurd cards that were simple and told what to do right on the card.

  • maybe each planeswalker should be in an Intro pack foil w/ a rules book and a Planeswalker rules set too, that way every one is on the same page. Being Mythic and a BOX TOPPER foil will flood the market at a Rare-maybe uncommon level as I have opened many boxes since Eventide and get those BOX TOPPER Rares in each booster box and will always get a multiple copy mostly foil too.

  • :O i agree!

  • if baneslayer angel was the promo, I would have played in like at least 3 sealed flights just to get 3 of them

  • It's not often that I try and argue against a pro.

But his right here there a part of the game there a type and unlike tribal they seem here to stay.

These cards are extemely playable, every single planeswalker has seen some play.

It's like having the dual lands as mythics.

People will play with these cards and when they do they will want a play set.

A planeswalker primer card can be put into the pack with the planeswalker.

    Problem sloved.

  • Its a great idea with the tip card. They could do that because they always have the same pairs of Uncommon/Rare in the packs, the sorting is not fully random only on commons and lands

  • Why was this video talking about rarity of Planeswalkers for so long???

Seriously? Mythic is where it should be; LSV said it perfect when he was talking about you being a planeswalker and there's not many me's around so I want to be mythic. Simple.

I wouldn't want Baneslayer Angel; I would rather have Duress or Hippie as my Foil. That would be bad ass.

  • Planeswalkers are so cool and fascinating it will attract new players and make them want to learn how to use it.

The biggest danger for Magic is get dumbed down so that it doesn't have enough fascination to motivate people to learn the rules.

    The Portal sets proved that.

  • Portal, Portal Second Age and Starter were all commercial failures becuase even new players that I played with coming from Pokemon at the time did not want to be THAT NOOB that plays with stupid cards. I used to have a playset of Wraths from Portal and i got picked on for that but i was a veteran player back then so i did not care.

  • If new players open a Planeswalker they will be more likely to try to understand what it does because it is a Mythic Rare and they know that they got a very good card.
