@2plus2ist4 The Tommy also shoots pistol rounds: the .45 ACP is used in the M1911 Colt. As for ammo capacity: the standard issue WW2 Tommies, the M1 and the M1A1, could not accept the 50 and 100 rds drum magazines. Still, the .45 ACP carries a bigger punch than the MP 40s 9mm.

@MSUiBleedGreen21 I am the one disagreeing with YOU here. The 9mm didn't have as bad a kick. Not only was the Thompson heavier and hard to hold, the bolt was at the top so while you were firing and the barrel was rising as they do on the Tommy, you had the bolt flickering and disrupting your view down the sight. The Burp had the bolt on the side, a 9mm, and not just a stick for a sight but a circle which, in my experience, is better that the stick sights.

Depends on the job you wanted to do. The Thompson shoots a .45 cal and I believe the MP 40 is a 9 mm. Tommy Gun has better accuracy at longer range. MP 40 would be better at close range in urban areas perhaps.
@seminoleboy96 actually isnt mate.... he fired full non stop auto the m16 while hip firing and the other guy shot while ADS with bursts and the grouping of the ak was horrible. if Ermey was ADS and firing bursts with the m16 he wuld have had at least 25/30 rds on the target

The m-16 is a great gun but it only has accuracy over the Ak, The AK excels in jungle and desert warfare as it almost never jams. The m-16 on the other hand jams a lot. Also the AK came out first and wins my vote for originality and its design. there is a reason its the most produced gun in the world

Tommy any time. It was a .45acp instead of 9mm, it had a 700rpm while MP40 has 500rpm and the Tommy could have a 50rd drum. sure the Thompson wasn't as accurate but most of the time you were using and SMG was close quarter where ROF and caliber mattered in which the Thompson won both.
@AvidGamer749 then in this case MP40 won another two: length and weight. In CQB you want a compact SMG to maneuver around easily and MP40 allow you to fold its stock. Also MP-40 is way lighter while Thompson is more heavier than an AK.

I have fired the tommy and if you hold it tight it doesn't have much recoil. Im 14 and I didn't have to burst it. Like I said, in QBC accuracy isn't really a huge factor at 10ft.

@j0k3rVIRUS your taking that 20 round fact from call of duty. 20rd mags were only used by paratroopers and even then most swapped them for the standard issue 30 round mag. if you were issued a 28 tompson you could also use a 50 or 100 round drum. so the thompson has the MP40 beat on firepower. the whole accuracy issue is a myth to at the range it matters you should be using a rifle any way.

@CookiesAndGuns95 You ever used German guns. They have a trigger pull like 10lbs you have to really push on the damn things. I had to replace my trigger pack on the G3 with the PSG1 pack. The MP40 was not that reliable either and had a slower rate of fire. The STG44 had the same damn 10lb trigger pull too. All so troops would not shoot their self in the foot or each other.

The MP40 was not known as the burp gun. That was the Soviet PPSh41, which should have been represented in this test. But I'd still take the Tommy, despite the ridiculous ammo consumption that was pointless given the tendency towards muzzle rise. Forty-five is a hell of a caliber.

In my opinion, the Germans were a lot better equipped than Americans. MP40 was more accurate, the MG42 is the Buzzsaw, enough said. And the Gewher was powerful and accurate. Even though I am American, I would prefer a German made weapon. But, the American M-1 Garand was pretty impressive besides the low amount of bullets in the magazine.
I like it how they show the effectiveness of a gun by shooting at watermelons. Why not jelly or butter? I mean, an air gun can make a hole in a watermelon.

@killergang66 Well, in real life the Thompson is a .45 ACP cartridge and the MP40 is a 9mm para. The .45 is considerably more powerful than the 9mm. In MW2 the M4A1, ACR, M-16A4 and FAMAS all have different damage, but they all shoot the same round in real-life. It just goes to show that the designers of most video games aren't exactly trying to make them 100% realistic.

The thompson is way better. sure the mp40 is cooler but the thompson can have 50 round drum magazines, it has a way higher rate of fire, and shoots the much more powerful 45 acp.

@j0k3rVIRUS your taking that 20 round fact from call of duty. 20rd mags were only used by paratroopers and even then most swapped them for the standard issue 30 round mag. if you were issued a 28 tompson you could also use a 50 or 100 round drum. so the thompson has the MP40 beat on firepower. the whole accuracy issue is a myth to at the range it matters you should be using a rifle any way.

@CookiesAndGuns95 You ever used German guns. They have a trigger pull like 10lbs you have to really push on the damn things. I had to replace my trigger pack on the G3 with the PSG1 pack. The MP40 was not that reliable either and had a slower rate of fire. The STG44 had the same damn 10lb trigger pull too. All so troops would not shoot their self in the foot or each other.

The MP40 was not known as the burp gun. That was the Soviet PPSh41, which should have been represented in this test. But I'd still take the Tommy, despite the ridiculous ammo consumption that was pointless given the tendency towards muzzle rise. Forty-five is a hell of a caliber.

In my opinion, the Germans were a lot better equipped than Americans. MP40 was more accurate, the MG42 is the Buzzsaw, enough said. And the Gewher was powerful and accurate. Even though I am American, I would prefer a German made weapon. But, the American M-1 Garand was pretty impressive besides the low amount of bullets in the magazine.

@killergang66 Well, in real life the Thompson is a .45 ACP cartridge and the MP40 is a 9mm para. The .45 is considerably more powerful than the 9mm. In MW2 the M4A1, ACR, M-16A4 and FAMAS all have different damage, but they all shoot the same round in real-life. It just goes to show that the designers of most video games aren't exactly trying to make them 100% realistic.
