  • This is awesome dude!

  • Lol! Smart kid

  • I agree with Carolinefilly05 that this is not ghetto as some of the ignorant comments might suggest. It is also not supposed to replace other forms of exercise like walks/hikes/runs and getting your dog out to be socialized. For the high prey driven dog and those breeds who are just high energy, it is a fabulous way to expend excess energy. It is also an excellent tool for training impulse control when the dog is highly stimulated, which is important for every dog.

  • My staffy absolutely adores his flirtpole. Thanks for the tip on making this one. The store purchased ones are usually too short (not enough fun for the high drive dogs). I am currently using a horse lunge whip with a tug toy tied to the end. This works really well too.

  • I realize some of these comments are old. But the purpose of a flirt pole is not to replace normal exercise with your dog like hikes, walks, runs, biking, etc or even training. It's just an additional training and exercise tool that can be used. I teach impulse control, several commands including drop it / bring it here and leave it. 2 months old is WAY to young! I wouldn't start real flirt pole work until a year or better. And I am as non-ghetto as they come, but I still use this tool. ;)

  • Ghetto as Fuck

  • Fun stuff, but what's wrong with taking your dog for a walk and throw balls and let him walk beside a bike etc :p You don't have to build anything.

  • @0aniris0 I think a dog finds more fun chasing something than to go for a walk. Walks are excellent as well, but my dogs [even cats] go nuts over this string + toy stuff. I find they don't have as much fun chasing a toy that rolls & then stops. They want something that moves fast so they can chase it down.

  • Very cool, I have some pvc so i will get some bungee cord and make one today. This might keep me from killing my Tyson. thanks a lot.

  • ha ha thats funny like the way you wear out your dog

  • nice vid thanks for the tut.. how old do you reccomend the pit to be before he starts playing ?? is 2 months okay ?

  • @AFirelnside Google it. There are important guidelines for puppies so that they don't damage their growing bodies. :)

  • that looks like the exact pvc pipe I use

  • you made that really easy. good job.

  • Love it! So simple, and yet I can see my energetic lab puppy running off her frantic energy with this type of toy... without draining the life out me. *lol* Kudos to you for creating something so useful with affordable parts like PVC tube and cord. The biggest problem I've had in getting my dog to integrate into the family (inside the house) is that she is so BIG and so powerful that she can knock us down being klutzy and friendly. Taking her on a walk is like taking me for a drag. *lol*

  • My dog is addicted to this. Bamboo works good too.

  • @mantusmania be carefull i have cut my self on bamboo loads it splits like a razor very painfull lol

    great vid good idea

  • what breed is your other dog?

  • he is a chow lab mix

  • @1gladiators20082009 he is a chow lab mix

  • well done :)

  • lol looks like your goin fishin, but yeah i'f be worried about that bunjee slippin through and snappin your dog. hows your dog doin now tho he'd be around 3 years old now ?

  • YOUR BOY LOVES this!! haha so funny how the other one could care less about chasing it he just wants to watch and bark! Glad to read its just for exercise.....My dog would go CRRRAZY for this! I wrote on your last video I am going to try to make a springpole for the back yard for my Pittie! BTW....Fighting pitbulls is disgusting and IS NOT A SPORT!!! SO anyone who wants to build this to build a fight dog, You are disgusting and should be euthanized NOT THE DOG!!

  • @rdsugr26 Just know that if it wasn't for the sport of dog fighting, this breed wouldn't exist!

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • I use a little square of leather and a whip. My pit LOVES it. Very durable and light so my pit has to really work for it. Great video. Like your idea

  • If you want on that is going to last a real long time go to a feed store and buy a riding crop (used for horses) They will never break. They are also cheap.

  • a whip is better:D

  • instead of a chew toy i use this thing that kinda looks like a fuzzy fox tail... drives my dog bonkers!!!! and its pretty durable, i got it from some pet store for hunting dogs (dont even know why i was in there lol)

  • great video. I too use the PCV piping and it works really well and gives my pitbulls a great work out. I also like the fact that you have a 6 foot stockade fence, as they are notorious escape artists.

  • I tried to make one but it got destroyed after sometime so I decided to just buy.

  • A good workout for a dog. Mine does 30-40 min and then chase ball afterwards. That really takes all the extra energy out of him;)

    Mats

  • how fun :) he seems to really enjoy it and that other dog in the way was annoyed lol funny shit. anyway, ive seen some of ur other videos and domino is gorgeous!

  • i made a flirt pole as well u can check my video of how different breeds respond to the flirt pole..i used a bamboo stick cost 5 dolllars some shoe string and a 5 dollar squeak duck toy..i like the rope domino used

  • hey man, great simple solution. can you believe people are charging 50 bucks for these things with a little handle?!

if you get a chance reply or message me with the name of the toy you have tied on the end.

  • Great video, Great info..!! 5*

I just heard of the Flirt Pole today.. gotta stop and get the material to make right after work!!

  • LOL...i made mine out of a fishing rod...nylon rope...and made a feather looking treat at the end..and I call it fishing for pitties! great fun for everyone!

  • i have a springpole myself outside but why build this? you can hold the rope in your hand

  • i use it to make my dog run and make him tired unlike the spring pole

  • @mgbrawl you could hold the rope in your hand also but you get better and quicker manoover with a pole and you dont have to move as much as if you was just holding the rope

  • @crayzme thanks i get it now, my dogs quite heavy so wouldnt be able to keep leverage with a pole is all, but get why it works 4 a lighter dog...

  • Wish we was allowed PB's in the UK, domino is beautiful

  • domino pissed shadow off lol, cool vid bro

  • Neat. I'm going to make one now. Poor shadow, you guys disturbed his/her sun bathing, lol ;)

  • KOOL

  • thanks for the idea, ive recentely made one.
