You can just mash the potatoes with a masher, or you could buy a ricer. Williams-Sonoma has one, and I use that. It takes a bit of time, but its worth it. Also, its better if you put the milk and butter into a saucepan and cook it at a low heat, then add that at the end to the mixture. :)
@CutTheFat yea i attempted to use a garlic squishier for that! not a good idea, and i was trying to put everything the the sauce pan but i was kinda messing up becuase the milk was starting the get that skin on it.. lol oh man i will have to get that ricer to make life easier.
Oh, another thing. There is not enough water for ur potatoes. Try also to buy potatoes that are made to be mashed. There are different varieties. Cut them and then wash them.Boil water and then, when it boils, add them to the water. Dont either forget to peel them before cutting and cooking them . It is easier this way.
I know what i will do, i will make special articles for u in my blog. It will be about different ways to cook potatoes.I will even maybe make videos :) I will have to edit sevreal different articles cause there are so many ways to cook potatoes.I will show some french and german typical recipes.Oh gosh i am excited hihi! So now i have to buy a bunch of potatoes and eggs :) See ya !
One french secret :the raw yellow part of one egg .U will see, that makes the difference :) U can add also some cream and, another french, not secret, but habit : cook 1 chopped or sliced onion in butter until it becomes translucid or, if u like , a little bit golden. Then add it to ur mashed potatoes :) MMmmmMMM yummie :) Nutmeg is a classic :) To top it in ur plate : some fresh sliced chive , or even dry. Yummie :) Try some other french specialities : duchess potatoes or dauphine potatoes yum.
Try using cream! It makes the mashed potatoes so milky and gives it a little extra something. I also noticed you didn't add salt? Try seasoning the water before boiling :)
I've never had garlic in my mashies, but sounds like a good idea, I'm going to try that. Btw, I love your cooking tutorials, I used to do them, but I decided youtube wasn't for me and took them down.
@markiemarkstyle oh no that wasnt garlic.. its for garlic but i used it to mash the potatoes, and yeah i notice you deleted them :( its okay youtube isnt for everyone i guess
