  • THIS IS PERVERSE. EVERYTHING YOU ALLOW TO ENTER YOUR MIND AND SOUL WILL CREATE A PROJECTION INTO YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS WHICH ALWAYS AFFECTS YOUR CONSCIOUS. TRANQUILITY AND HARMONY OF SOUL AND MIND IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH FIRTH. NOTHING IS SUBJECTIVE. EVERYTHING IS COMPARATIVE AND RELATIVE AND THUS OBJECTIVE BY POINT OF REFERENCE. CONFLATING "GOOD" AND "BAD" AND HAVING NO DEFINITION OF THEM, IS DESTRUCTIVE FOR LOGIC ITSELF...

  • @DimitrisMPapadakis Chill out bro

  • @DimitrisMPapadakis firth? like colin firth?

  • @DimitrisMPapadakis I'm trying to understand this comment, but I can't. I don't see how seeing something out of the ordinary, or filth for that matter, is so destructive. If your goal was tranquility all along, then why bother learning? When will you acknowledge sin as a part of human nature, and embrace the darker themed aspects of life? Without evil, there is no good. Without pain, there is no pleasure - for how would we know the difference? Tranquility is simply ignorance.

  • Your lip?

  • John, I've loved you to pieces for almost 30 years. You are always such a breath of fresh air and helped me to become the gay-champion and faghag that I happily am. Long may you reign.

  • god I love his honesty about his love for depravity and taboo subject matter.

  • Seeing the ending of Salo made me feel ruined.

  • Remember people, this is the internet. We already have a great phrase for not rising to the bate. We just have to remember to apply it in our everyday lives. Don't feed the trolls.

  • 0:33 and 2:14

  • A 17 yr-old hustler confessed to murdering Pasolini. 30 years later, he retracted his confession, saying he made it under the threat of violence to his family, and that 3 men committed the murder. Evidence uncovered in '05 pointed to extortion as motivation for the murder. Pasolini's friend indicated that rolls of the Salo film had been stolen, & Pasolini had gone to meet w/ the thieves. Roman police reopened the case, but Judges determined the evidence was insufficient to continue the inquiry.

  • For those of you who don't know, Salo is based off of a work by the Marque De Sade...a man whose sexual views were so violent we get the word sadism from him. While some plot elements are changed around (the book takes place in France; the movie takes place in Italy during WWII), it does depict disgusting parts. If Waters really thinks straight porn is violence to women, could he then explain why De Sade viewed women as "She-wolves who belong to anyone who wishes to ravage her"?

  • @MrTrilliondollarman Your last sentence makes no sense conceptually:

"If Waters really thinks straight porn is violence 2 women, could he then explain why De Sade viewed women as 'She-wolves who belong 2 anyone who wishes to ravage her'?"

Sade is a man, talking about woman. So...what u r saying, about De Sade being violent 2 woman supports what Waters is saying about strait porn being violent 2 women. Derrr. Do u think before u get puffed up, or is there a constant whistling sound in your head?

  • @TangoMoodify maybe the better question should be this: do you bother to check the facts before you ask something? I don't think you did.

  • @MrTrilliondollarman What are you talking about? Part of communication is to make yourself understandable, otherwise stfu, thank you.

  • @MrTrilliondollarman Get some antidepressants before you start killing prostitutes you wacko

  • @TangoMoodify

More like hands off little children, sicko, before you get arrested.

  • @MrTrilliondollarman Unless you are a troll, saying the most moronic thing you can think of, otherwise, if this is your actual level of clarity, you need serious help asap.

  • @TangoMoodify

Or I can keep pointing out how wrong you are, and you fall to pieces for my amusement.

  • @MrTrilliondollarman You haven't pointed out that I'm wrong =)

  • @TangoMoodify

Yes, I have. I skewered everything you said with little or no effort.

  • @TangoMoodify

And to answer your other questions, clearly you have nothing better to do than to tout bullshit that even a retarded monkey wouldn't believe.

  • @TangoMoodify

More like did you even bother to take your head out of your ass before you put this together or are you naturally this full of shit? When men talk about women, they don't usually talk about making sex toys out of them..De Sade did.

  • Yikes Mr. Waters, Salo is anti-fascist, fine. But how do you accept the way to make fascism evil is to associate it with sex and homosexuality. Salo is the worst expression of oppressive catholic dogma: sex is evil and homosexuality is the worst evil, and therefore they go right along with fascism??!!

  • what a fucking idiot. there's freedom of expression, which should be defended & perpetuated. but burning religious books, or ANY books, should NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER be allowed. burning books is the OPPOSITE of freedom of expression, it suppresses expression. its the very same act that was done in every fascist, dictatorial, oppressive regime in the 20th century. and for this guy to advocate such an act, i t m a k e s h i m a f a s c i s t. with a capital F.

  • @oc00011 Yes cause an expression of disapproval by burning an object is the same as Taking over everyone elses rights to read or approve.Geez I never thought Id read such an amazingly stupid comment, even on youtube....

  • @36inc so u approve of book-burning. & u say i'm stupid lol. what a character. i said its related to "suppression of expression", i didn't say burning a "object" is the same as "taking over everyone". i don't know what medication ur on buddy. u need to up the dose.

i said its an act that is Dangerous, its symbolic of taking away a person's right to read that book! if u object to the contents of a book, make a protest, critique it, campaign ur view. DON'T burn books, its a mindless, fascist act.

  • @oc00011 it can be as symbolic as it wants, but so long as we still have the text on file for reprinting, they've not accomplished anything toward removal of the book by burning a paper copy.

  • @kotoroshinoto i don't think u understand what the implications of the symbolic act are. certain semiotic qualities to such acts short-circuit human minds to do Very sickening things. what burning books represents is as dangerous as what usually follows - and u Should look at history's repeating pattern of what Always followed. secondly, you said it doesn't accomplish anything towards removal of the book, so why not express in a constructive way instead! can u not see the Very Real danger of it?

  • @oc00011 Expression of fascism is not illegal. Nor is it dangerous, the KKK burns crosses and dresses up still, but we simply luaghed them into obscurity.Symbolics arent that powerful. While I agree its somewhat mindless and stupid. Its not a clearly fascist act and nor is it dangerous. Your taking leaps and bounds with logic. If symbolism was that powerful Then waving my rainbow flag For the LGBT would be enough to change christian minds. Please burn a book, Lets see how fascist you become.

  • @36inc i'm not exactly "taking leaps and bounds" with my logic. i'm looking into what history showed us again and again... and again. i've studied, and written about, semiotics. "symbolics aren't that powerful" - think again. 1 of the most powerful attributes of propagandist acts is iconic signifiers.

2nd, freedom of expression is as important as not allowing people in a free society to object to any expressive material through violence. burning goes into this category.

  • @oc00011 Really? Cause burning an object ONLY can be negative?wha world do you live in? Propoganda can only take real effect in a closed room. This is how Culs occur they tease you in with what sounds like good ideas, they close you of from society where reason can corrupt the effect, and they say it so forcibly until out of instinct you buy it. In germany they did this, closing foreign airwaves. Not allowing reason to have a say.Thats when it becomes dangerous. Symbolism on its own is Weak.

  • @36inc i'll say again, freedom of expression is as important as not allowing people in a free society to object to any expressive material through violence. burning goes into this category.

& i don't know why u keep insisting that we're talking about burning "objects", i'm not talking about objects i'm talking about burning freakin books. in addition to my aforementioned point, there's absolutely No positive or constructive result from burning books, so yes this means its only negative.

  • @oc00011 Books are an object. I burned Mien kompt, as an expression against fascism. Is that not positive? We burn Flags as a way of retiring them. Many many religions believe fire to be holy. thus Cremation.

I dont see how destroying an object is violent in the same since as maybe punching someone. Im sorry man your just Wrong.

  • john waters gets it.

  • I can never get through stuff like Salo. Fetish stuff is too repetitive for me. Spanking once I can watch, spanking in every scene loses the viewer's attention unless that's their fetish.

  • What a great guy.

  • Salo, Irreversible, and (I'm including this) Human Centipede are not just violent, but, have strong elements of human degradation. Thats what makes them sooo offensive and hard to watch.

  • 3:20 can anybody think of the movie he's talking about?

  • gay.. stopped the vid at 0:08

  • @ricktbdgc Why would you troll on BigThink videos? Can't you go back to FoxNews???

  • Let’s work to eradicate all religion. Conversely, begin a relationship with Jesus Christ today. You need to repent. Yes, you. Moreover, you should ask God for eternal forgiveness through applying the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to your life of sin within the quietness of your bedroom tonight. As an unrepentant sinner myself, I made this decision around 15 years ago. This is the most important decision that you could ever make. - Romans 10:9-10

  • There was nothing intellectual about salo.

  • Filthy guy.

  • THE CREEP!

  • Why u sound like frog!?

  • Dear John Waters, you are so stupid! Im a 17 year old male, and I'm disgusted by what this planet has become, all this rebellious and stupidity by young people was started by people like you. You obviously have never been hit as a child.

  • @ItstheAlexShow You blame your childhood abuse on John Waters? How does that make any sense to you?

  • Man the whole time I was thinking "Irreversible" is the most fucked up movie I have seen. I must say it was too much for me."Breaking the Waves" is another one.

  • Salo should be labeled as a horror movie, if it already isn't, that would make sense--what's scary is that there are WORSE movies than that!

  • Geez, I just looked up Salo, it sounds just as bad or worse than SAW (bleachh!), but apparently, it's supposed to be artistic and represent stuff. Really? Corophagia? Why do people watch or make this stuff? Why do we need to depict graphic torture? So the sociopaths can be entertained? This is my opinion, so please don't hate me for it. If I think something is disgusting, then I shouldn't have to look at it or hear about it.

  • @RetroLaydeh42

What a horrible, selfish thing to say.

  • @ThePowerBeard I'm just stating an opionion, how am I being horribly selfish? Are you trolling me?

  • Does he find ANYthing obscene?

  • Now I want to watch a feature length movie where every actor in the movie has a mustache that's been drawn on with a marker. Does anyone else feel that way?

  • Do the Creeeep-Ahhh...

  • salo is a fucking masterpiece. anyone who shuns that movie has no respect for true art.

  • @musicforchewfaygs So 3/4 of the world can't recognize art? Since it's been banned in several countries, and still is? Just wondering. The message of the movie--the 'lesson' can definitely be applied to art, but why the obscenity? Artists like Salvador Dali shocked people with their work, but not to the gross-out level. Who other than a sociopath can actually look at mutilation and shit-eating and call that artistic? Well, as long as it's not real, then it's not that bad?...

  • @aliensamuraipirate why ban things you aren't forced to watch in the first place? i never plan on seeing this movie, since im pretty sure its subject matter would offend me (shit eating was mentioned, fucking disgusting), but why would i want it banned? just because you find it offensive it doesn't have the right to exist? I dont follow.

  • @1504245 Did I say I was for banning? Not really, but it doesn't bother me that it's banned--I just brought that up to make the point that many people find it horrible enough to be banned from a whole country. What I'm also trying to say is that some of the stuff seen as 'art' nowadays is crazy and ridiculous--in my opinion. Some of the excuses for torture or child pornography are 'art'-related, but they're still taboos in most cultures.

  • @musicforchewfaygs Then again, some people in some snuff-films are actually acting, but it's made to look like torture or rape (excluding the ones that are actually real, that's just plain cruelty--person or animal). I'm guessing the difference between the two is that one has a political moral and the other is just to entertain sickos?

  • whatever happens between 1, 2 0r 3+ consenting adults in front of a video camera is their business (within reason of course..), whether you want to watch it or not is yours.

  • Rising to the bate, if you flip out about it. I will never forget that statement in my life! So true on so many levels!

  • @391infotube bait*

  • @391infotube Don't feed the trolls ;)

  • "The Day the clown cried"

  • Baltimore's NUMBER ONE King! The trashy Hamdenites miss ya!

  • lol this is steve buchemis dad

  • Like if you were like "THATS THE GUY FROM THE CREEP!"

  • Sounds like a radical idiot. And im a LIberal.

  • @marquezbayside I'm offensive and I find this socialist.

  • Hmm. What about A Serbian Film?

  • @TheGerogero

NO NO NO...NOOOOOOOOOOO-NO, FUCK THAT NOOOOOOOOOOOOO x 2000000

  • i like what he said about how hate groups do what they do for a reaction. i saw a kkk march where a lot of activists showed up to yell at the kkk and i felt equally disgusted by the activists because had they not shown up it just would have been a bunch of white cloaks and swastikas walking down an empty street until they got discouraged and went home

  • some ppl think salo is obcene???? ok while i agree that it is a great movie filled with lessons about the abuse of power it is very safe to say that it is a very obscene movie

  • "Homer, what do you have against gays"?

    :D

"Is it okay to come out now, mr. gay man, sir"?

  • JOHN WATERS RULE!

  • This guy is fucking weird as fuck.

    Salo is messed up.

  • @ElCubanoConguero in case you havent seen it all ready uneducated, inbreed, hating pieces of shit like you are quickly becoming the minority in this world. I cant wait to see where people like you are in the next decade or so your going to be the ones chased out of towns, pursued and beaten. oh what fun

  • @scumbuddy You say all that and HE is the "hating piece of shit"? Your entire comment was how you wish to see him "pursued and beaten". Hypocrisy, much?

  • @AcruxSolus well.ya got me, but he IS still a hating piece of shit and Iam entitled to speak my mind. I don't WISH to see any one pursued and beaten other than people who promote hate and violence just for the sake of promoting hate and violence or because of some deluded, idiotic, misplaced belife or just because they think a certian way of life is gross and they expect everyone to agree with them, and the people who dont should have pain inflicted upon them. no, Iam not a hater

  • @scumbuddy Fight fire with hotter fire, I say.

  • @AcruxSolus Right on, because you certainly cant fight it with kind words and hopeful intentions

  • Holy shit, it's Knox Harrington, the video artist!

  • He must never have seen Japanese scat videos.

  • Oh wow, John Waters is an appreciator of Kenneth Anger's works. Have the two ever met in person? and what does John Waters think about the latter's former relationships with Aleister Crowley and Alfred Kinsey?

  • John Waters is right! Don't feed the trolls. If you see those Westboro nuts holding their “God hates fags” signs on the street, just ignore them.

  • no... you should not be able to yell fire in a crowded theater.

  • Ladies & Gentlemens . . . Smut Lord - John Waters!

  • why does this channel post vids that allow these vile fags to spew their miserable lies and wretched opinions? These are the lowest scum of our entire society. Fags never invent or build anything, they simply destroy the culture and dumb it down. Look at any industry where fags have taken control; MTV, Pop Music, etc. It will always diminish in artistic beauty and will only condescend to the lowest, base denominator. Our society would rise if we would eliminate fags from all media.

  • @ElCubanoConguero People like you make me really sad. I don't usually reply to comments such as yours but... damn. Intolerant pieces of shit like you are the real "lowest scum" of society.

  • @ElCubanoConguero is James Randi a miserable liar and scum?

  • @ElCubanoConguero the only thing that diminishes and degrades culture of its artistic beauty is pompus, insecure, fearful, hate filled, little insignifigant people with big mouths such as your self. and your comment is such overwhelming proof of that very thing. it really is amazing how you can speak so much yet so little.

  • @ElCubanoConguero LMFAO, nothing like proving my point eh? there you go again you cant seem to control yourself. thoughtful, intelligent moral person? you? HA! unlike you I wish you well and yes I will go peel some guys cheeks apart an give him a good old hard stiff dick, why dont you make your self happy and go drown face down in some nasty bitch's sloppy drippy cunt?

  • What is this naziboy movie called, please, that sounds so epic.

  • @IngmarMountman probably In a Glass House

  • visitor Q, sickest film I've seen

  • Was he just drinking hot chocolate?

  • One of the funniest, most creative 'underworld' film directors ever. (Shaking up the old foks and the prudes since the '60s!) For a treat of the print variety, try reading one of his hilarious books--I recommend "Crackpot." Thanks for making the world more interesting, Mr. Waters!

  • @karmadhyana Wow, he must of been trolling people for quite a while (the 'old folks' and 'prudes', that is).

  • @RetroLaydeh42 ..."must of"...? You mean, "must have", correct? Sorry, but when someone puts their opinions out there like they're clever, or deep, or...whatever, I feel it's relatively important that they at least use correct spelling. (Call me crazy!) Now, as to your post, please elaborate. The 'old foks' and 'prudes' I mentioned is in regard to his unique style of pushing buttons, especially when it comes to "old school" values. Remember, JW made Mondo Trasho when he was 23. Get my point?

  • @karmadhyana I thinl spelling and grammar are important, but I'm not a Nazi about it--I make mistakes. Anyway, I agree that he had/has a unique style, but he also 'shocked people and was 'obscene' on purpose. Even Divine said 15 years after Pink Flamingoes: "What was, in the early seventies, a mind-blowing exercise in Poor Taste, was now, we both believed, sheer Bad Taste. Divi[ne] felt the public would never accept such an infantile effort in shock tactics...".

  • @karmadhyana He rebeled against his parent's "fascist-ly good taste", as he put it, so in a sense, he was 'trolling'. Young people do it all the time to get on their parent's nerves, that's all I meant. I like a few of his movies--like Hairspray and Polyester--but to be honest, he's not my cup of tea, just my opinion.

  • @karmadhyana I even noticed a few of my own spelling errors in my responses (but I can't fix them now, only if I removed them, then started all over, but that is way too tedious for something so trivial as a response to a video). Even if I liked ALL of JW's movies, I would still say he was 'trolling', b/c when people rebel, they provoke a reaction. That's all I meant, I'm sorry if you took it personally.

  • @karmadhyana Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Mr. Waters, not at all--in fact I feel like I can learn from him as a director/screenwriter (even if I don't always like his movies or raunchy humor), and some stuff he says is funny and true. Also, my original comment was meant to be taken as a joke, just lighthearted humor--so sorry if you got offended.

  • @RetroLaydeh42 Ha, sorry about the snipe...was feeling all 'Waters-y'. ;)

  • TIME TO GET ALL NEW TEETH AND LOOSE THE SHIT STRIP MUSTACHE.

  • Salo is name of Finnish town... ._.

  • creep

  • Is irreversable the film he was talking about with the guy who fantasized his own torture in a concentration camp? Or is that another film? If you know it, I would like to know.

  • @chazoey haha he does look like a puertorican... anyways thanks

  • @chazoey No, "Irreversible" is not the film he was talking about. I'd wager to say that he was thinking of "In A Glass Cage." Both movies are certainly worth checking out.

  • Irreversible's very high on my 'to watch' list, looking forward to it now!

  • Gaspar Noe's "Irreversible is awesome.

  • Salo is a sadistic piece of @#!!XX!!

  • John Waters = Awesome

  • John's matured into a Puerto Rican

  • @LoominViewa what do you mean by “matured into a puerto rican”?

  • @R193L1 He looks like a Puerto Rican, with that skin tone. And I think that person meant that he has aged to look like that, he has come to look like that with age, although maybe it's just a tan because he just got back from vacation. Who knows.

  • @LoominViewa

    Kudos. Funniest comment ever!

  • John Waters is a brilliant guy.

  • Comment removed

  • @Provoker7 he's a hero

  • @Bzdi138

    Heroes don't cry wolf.

  • @Provoker7 archaic situations are wonderful. He's done a ton for gay rights, film and anti-censorship. Respect it; it's amazing. He put Baltimore on the map.

  • @Bzdi138

I can enjoy his movies and respect his contributions to society while at the same time calling him out for his irresponsible comments.

  • @Provoker7 i don't think he was suggesting that it would be a desirable action to do, but, going by the context, i think it's more just in that he believes completely in free speech--no exceptions.

  • @tylurlee

You've raised an interesting contrast between free speech and undesirable speech, though Waters chose a horrible example to illustrate his point. I'm a proponent of free speech, but not when the content is both dishonest and a risk to public safety. Even if nobody gets hurt during the hysteria, it can quickly lead to cry-wolf scenarios.

  • @Provoker7

Waters was using the most famous "limited free speech" example that philosophy has going. He just happened to invert it to make a point. In the context of the metaphor, that's not a public safety thing: it's a public safety thing when Waters actually goes to the theatre and yells fire. :)

None of the films Waters mentioned are a threat to public safety. Maybe the mafia that run the porn industry are, but no amount of well-intentioned artistic censure is going to stop those scumbags.

  • @Rintin07

I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • @Provoker7 And of course in Waters's film Female Trouble, Divine doesn't just shout "Fire" in a crowded theatre, she starts firing a gun at the audience. :)

  • @Rintin07 no, she just eats dog shit later on to make up for it
