I just watched this from the point-of-view of a televised drama of a short story. It succeeded wonderfully as the first chapter! Now I'm curious, what was your message? Who found it? What happened later! -This could be a whole series based on "The Bottle". : )
Also even after we die, our clips will still survive, for the rest of the world to see, probably till the end of humanity. Such things were not possible before internet :)
I started my channel as a way to test myself, but it became something more meaningful than that for me. I found a lot of messages in bottles and learned a lot.
Theres a LOT out there on YT... its pretty overwhelming, but I'm very grateful for it. I think the world in some ways knows itself better now than it did in the 20th century, very much from these messages in bottles.
But lets all promise we won't get lost in the 'potential' of YT, and will also try to use it.
Well made and said. It makes sense to me as I wonder how I ended up tangled up in YouTube. There is an inspiring side to it. Thank you. Blessings +^+^+ Fletcher
I love scoring the first vlogs too, Raven. It makes me happy inside-that warm fuzzy feeling you get when someone appreciates the artist within. I loved your vid on viewmasters. I has one as a child. I still have it and the clarity hasn't deteriated over the years-amazing aren't they. Thanks for the blast from the past! Lisa(M.O.M)
Loved it! You really have a charming accent, you know. Please have a look at my modest little poem. We could speak German. I have been living 12 years in Hamburg. By the way - I love the work of DavidRandallCurtistheFirstSeniorEsquire!
That is such an accurate metaphor! You just send your message to see if anyone finds it, if anyone is pleased by it, and maybe they could even reply back to you! Of course, sometimes the message gets lost and someone else ends up receiving it... but then that person could try to answer back too! And so on, and so on!
You know, you inspire me! There was a time, when I had the need to communicate. Communication itself is a vast ocean, full of expectations, opinions, subjective, and some people just cant understand, or even accept that others might have a different opinion. It gets tough talking to people like that, and many of us get discouraged. Hopefully you may encourage more people to express them selves, if you succeed, Ill be happy. Good luck :}
You created gold. Its the connection between human beings, here on this platform. Sharing time, ideas, and thoughts. Thank you for this wonderful Vlog.
Hint? Hint! As old age creeps up on you, you are becoming increasingly less subtle.
As a media savy, politically sophisticated person whose work is sometimes of interest to the mainstream media, I must be cautious about showing my face in any public forum. People who are "nobodies" from the perspective of the mainstream media and the power brokers can post whatever they like and not worry about the consequences. They are effectively anonymous. The rest of us have jobs to lose.
Wow. As with everything Jen does it this is done with grace and dignity. Profound and insightful, clever and original, this video transcends all others and stands in a class by itself.
P.S.2: And I know full well, I am only one tiny, insignificant, straggle- bearded, barefoot castaway in tattered clothes, on another deserted island, among hundreds or thousands of deserted islands all over the World. Every day we all leave our thatched huts, and walk briskly down to the beach. Looking and hoping to find another bottle washed ashore, with another message from Jennifer! :) Thank-You Jen, from ALL OF US. YOUR MANY MANY FRIENDS all over the World! : )
I was struck by the line: "And living in cities so full of people, we can't talk to anyone." And I wondered, How is a message in a bottle a solution? Maybe it is because only in that tiny world within the bottle, are we truly free from all external controls and influences, or the pressure to conform. Only there can we express who we really are inside. Our message is a little bit of the creative part of us, striving to be discovered and be set free.
I love this. You are so spot on and you made me smile throughout the entire length of this video. Seeing the ocean at the end was especially surprising.
Added to my favorites and to my poetry/vlog playlist on my channel.
ASAngelo ~ Thank you for sharing Jen's latest lovely gift. I'm here so sporadically, it's beautiful to be directed to the very best use of my time. Gracias.
Cheers, of course, to the Curious Gentleman, Autumn Sebastian, for sharing; but, my dear, YOU are truly a rising star. Keep up the great work! P.S. Not to leave out other potential contributers, but I'd love to see a collaboration between ASAngelo, DavidRandallCurtis, and yourself. (My three favorite YouTubers). ;)
I cast a whole truckload of bottles from a brewery into the ocean and it got swept by the Eastern Australian Current to places I never even imagined. A few bottles came back as comments... Fantastic!
For awhile I wanted more channels to watch so I would search through the "recently uploaded" videos every few hours. In between lip synching and pirated films there were a few gems. P.S. cool skirt =]

I think I did. My first one was a reply to yours New Years Eve fireworks of Sydney. Though I didn't speak, I fastened my narration with subtitles. If that doesn't count, then I guess the next step will be to find a nifty one, stuff it and throw it into the N-Atlantic.
That is a great use of analogy and an excellent video. In fact it is one of the best videos I have encountered in a while. I hope it inspires more people to create content for YouTube or, as you put it, join the vast YouTubian Ocean.

You have found some of the very best poetic messages in bottles here on YouTube, David! And I have thus found a great deal of amazing channels to subscribe to through you - thank you! =)
Ha I used to do that for real. I remember throwing a message in a bottle in the sea. It didn't get very far though. It washed ashore about 20 kilometers further on in Germany. I got a nice card back and a map where they had found my bottle. It's a lovely idea I think.
Yeah I should try that again. Maybe give it to a fisherman so he can throw it overboard when he's at sea. It would get further that way. If and when I do this I'll make a video about it.
Oh if I get reply i would certainly do that. You know, I think I will do it. I have to wait for a bit warmer weather, there's Ice floating in the sea now.
Absolutely beautiful Jen. I know running searches for 'First Vlog' is one of your favourite things ever to do on YouTube. You've led the way for many many people to find the hidden gems that are out there. I can think of a lot of people I discovered via your searches. ^^ You are a guide more than a leader.
PS - I call you on throwing a bottle in the ocean! Tell me I'm wrong. ;P
LOL! A little birdy told me there was a video uploading, and I couldn't resist the 'First' call - it's so rare for me to see one of your videos before your legions of fans arrive! ;DDD
Thank you Jennifer,
For bringing a smile to my face when I opened your message in a bottle.
It was wonderful to listen to such a lovely, thoughtful story.
I love the way you narrate your work.
That message in a bottle is still out there making peoples richer.
Take care,
