I didn't like this game at all. Myst and Riven were phenomenal, Exile was alright, and I didn't really like Myst IV. I feel that this game kind of soiled the series by making the actors with 3D characters created using a computer. It takes away from the mysterious feeling and the reality of the game.

the 3d is amazing for the time but compared to prerenders they're just weak. like comparing maglev trains to electric rail or video to film theoretically these systems can surpass their predecessors but they aren't even close yet. I don't think the game lost it's magic I just figure the pre renders were better for the kind of art the games depend on to be compelling. Myst one was about like this even in prerender.

@aldebaran899 To understand the story and get the whole experience, I recomend you to watch LPs of both Myst and Riven since those are hard to play on newer computers. Then play Myst 3:Exile and Myst 4: Revelation for yourself.

It may seem like a hassle, but you will be able to understand the fifth game much better.

Also keep in mind that Myst IV occurs roughly 200 years before Myst V (which is set around the time the game was released- 2005). Even though the D'ni have longer lifespans than normal humans, they will still visibly age over the centuries.

@nodysseus Though Yeesha was always said to have a special connection to the bahro and The Art. In Uru it is explained that she could write things that none of them could even dream of, and there she was a late teenager. She looks alot older here, so maybe her powers have increased.

The Bahro are able to link at will without books (whether its an inherent ability or not is left ambiguous) and Escher gained that ability because he is wearing a piece of skin that he ripped off of one (notice he touches the same spot on his shoulder every time he links).
