I used to be into punk back in the 1980s but still think this band rock. Incidently Simon Le Bon started his musical career singing with a punk band back in 1977.
Well as good as they are as a live band and i've seen them live and they're amazing. This isn't live and poor Simon is doing some dreadful lip syncing even as cute as he is. Some shows especially in the 80's and 90's would not allow bands to perform live. Somewhere on you tube you will find a video of them from I think Saturday Night Live and they performed a song, maybe New Moon on Monday. Anyhow, as perfectly as they looked, poor Simon wasn't even given a microphone...lol
@sanderella They performed "Hungry Like The Wolf" and "Girls On Film" on SNL. There's a DVD box set Lorne Michael's released of all SNL musical performances since 1975 and Duran's on it. Only the "Hungry Like The Wolf" performance is featured, however, but it's pretty amazing . . .
Search youtube for this~> Duran Duran : Union Of The Snake (TV 1984) the video uploader is DenDuran thats the video I was referring to..maybe not an SNL performance, who knows? I thought I remembered this actual footage way back when on SNL.. maybe someone else knows where it's from??
@sanderella Hmm . . . Been an SNL fan for decades and never saw open flames in their stage decor! I think that's from some some show in Europe -- not SNL. Also, with the exception of one unfortunate performance by Ashley Simpson, SNL keeps true to their name where musical acts are concerned and requires they actually perform live. Definitely consider buying or netflixing "Saturday Night Live - 25 Years of Music". Definitely worth it for all the performances in it -- not just DD in '83 . . .
WHAT A BADDDDDDDDD SOUND... wft oploader.
