The heads the corps currently uses are a 2 ply polyester weave, manufactured in Switzerland. The heads are softer than kevlar and have a little less attack then fibers.
@CJCbassman09 Nope, they're fiberskin. Kevlar or "powerheads" would crush the shells of the snare drums. Plus, see the ropes, that is what gives the drums tension. There is no possible way ropes could ever give enough tension to support a kevlar head. It would be like playing on a pillow...
@bc381900 Nope, They aren't fiberskin. ive drummed with ALL of the guys in the old guard. the kevlar heads don't crush the shells. but these drums are single ply birdseye and ARE starting to warp. to get the drums tight enough to be played on, the old guard had their drums pressed in a drum press (go figure). like i said, i've drummed with all of them.
TERRIFIC OG!!! You are really demonstrating the classic technique and skill that I feel has been lost with so many drum lines of today...a real loss for so many young players. Cooperman drums sound terrific! It sure beats the sound of countertops...
wow thats pretty cool.
