  • Jesus said - My kingdom is not of this world. If it was, my servants would fight like it.

The one group that Jesus was more critical of than any others were the Religious Priests of the day. Read the gospel and compare. He calls them hypocrits for loading their followers up with rules and laws for Salvation. He calls them vipers and whitewashed tombs. He came to bring Relationship between God and Man not a new set of rules and rituals

  • @Jonathan2342 That is not the same as saying "My kingdom is not IN this world". Jesus was a religious jew and He did not condemn religion, He condemned hypocrisy. He told the people to do as the leaders told them but not emulate their hypocrisy. Jesus established a church, and this is clear from scriptures and early church writings.

  • @Jonathan2342 He calls them hypocrites as they would tell everyone the rules, BUT not follow them themselves, essentially for not practicing what they preach. Jesus was not against religion. I would like to see the bible verse that says we dont need to follow rules or commandments anymore?

My Bible says we still have commandments we must follow, some of those the direct words of Christ.

  • People get too caught up in all the physical houses, Your body is the dwelling of Christ, religion gets too caught up in making the church this fancy building when fellowship with one another is church. The church is the body, people much up the church. Stop arguing about Christianity and other religions, what I am is a Son of the living God. I am not a Christian because I allow the Holy Spirit to guide me and not by what a church tells me.

  • @JohnFifteenverseOne i agree

  • @JohnFifteenverseOne The problem with that is so many people believe they are led by the Spirit of God and we have thousands of different sects because of different interpretations of the bible. Im not saying they are not Christians.

  • @manny665 Yes if you follow his commands all will fall into place, and you will arrive in the Catholic Church. The Church is body of Christ, he founded one Church. That is the pillar of truth (1 Tim 3:15). Which church do you propose is the pillar of truth?

  • @David82576 the Church that God resides in brother

  • screw religion. thats NOT Jesus for sure. Jesus is love, religion is man made.

  • @rissababyrawr Doesn't sound like a very christian way to express an opinion about the church that was founded by Christ Himself.

  • I agree with this

  • @johandubon1 No. The majority of people wanted Jesus crucified. And history doesn't support your statement about catholicism.

  • "Spirit juice" is my favorite euphemism for semen.

  • 1. Pope sitting on golden throne, preaching about modesty. 2. Mother Theresa saying only God can help sick people in Africa, discrediting doctors, than taking private plane to Switzerland to surgeon when she got sick. 3. Mob business of Vatican 4. Killings, slaughtery and other violence "in the name of the Lord" ... I could go on for ever. So if God really exists, I believe he will forgive me for being atheist when so much BS is going on, don't you think?

  • @FRiKiJDM Mother Teresa helped more people in her lifetime than you or I ever will, and the Pope lives in a modest apartment and has dedicated his life to the church. Many have died or their faith including many of the earliest popes.. I think you just want an excuse to have no belief in a supreme God that has created and sustains us. It sounds as if you have no hope, and that is sad. If you knew how much God loved you, you would rejoice in that and stop looking for or someone to blame

  • @holymotclare Helped more people for publicity. Those "helping facilities" in Africa were just made for people to die with her blessing. There were no doctors, they could afford them with all those millions they got. She said God is the best cure and they don't need doctors. But when she got a heart attack or something, she flew with a private plane to Switzerland to top world doctors. Why didn't God help her? I am not looking for any kind of excuse, just looking for someone to make me believe.

  • @FRiKiJDM Publicity? I disagree, if that were the case why not work somewhere that the media would be readily accessible at all times, not pulling the dying out of the gutters in Calcutta. I'd spare no expense either if someone as valued as Mother Teresa needed specialized care, so they can live & continue their work.

  • @aubrey12345able It was her choice to take a private plane to the best doctor and refuse visits of doctors in those dying camps. And when one criminal stole 300million $ and donated 50millions to her, she didn't care about returning that money to the families that were ripped off. Instead, she wrote an open letter to US court to release that criminal because he is "blessed". If 50 millions is what I need to be blessed, than I don't know.

  • @FRiKiJDM It begs the question, what would you--or I for that matter, do with the money as opposed to Mother Teresa. I could not find any direct evidence where she refused Dr.'s. I am not sure why you seem so bent on disparaging a woman who did so much good for so many

  • @aubrey12345able Don't ask me what would I do if I had that money. Bigass house, yacht, jacuzzi, Ferrari, my whole mansion would look like an expensive sin and with all the nudeness around, I know I'd go to hell, even if I don't believe in it.

  • @FRiKiJDM No person can "make" you believe. "First of all I wish to warn you that in disputations with unbelievers about articles of the Faith, you should not try to prove the Faith by necessary reasons. This would belittle the sublimity of the Faith, whose truth exceeds not only human minds but also those of angels; we believe in them only because they are revealed by God." Saint Thomas Aquinas, O.P.

  • @aubrey12345able I believed long time ago actually. Even went to catholic school because I wanted. Seeing what is going on there and discovering the whole corrupted picture made me drop the whole thing. I do believe religion is a wonderful thing, if you really believe, it really can help you out in life. But then again... You can believe in a lot of things that can help you out.

  • @FRiKiJDM ah, I am sorry that happened to you, but you must know the corruption that you speak of was the evil of the people who did it, not the Church & not God.

"Not 100 in the United States hate the Roman Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think the Roman Catholic Church is." -- Bishop Fulton J. Sheen

  • @aubrey12345able Yeah, but not even God himself could expect me to believe when things like that are going on. Every religion is the same. Islam is on same level as Christianity was 500y ago. I actually have a better life since I don't believe, I'm the same person, I can focus on myself and not to think always where's the connection to God because there ain't any. Believing is great if it helps you out and satisfies you. Didn't satisfy me though. And I believe I won't go to hell.

  • @FRiKiJDM And He said to His disciples, "It is impossible that scandals should not come; but woe to him through whom they come." Luke 17:1 Jesus Himself sat at table with sinners, a sign that all are welcome to His table. He said he did not come for the righteous, but for the sinner. Scandals will come & scandals will go, and the record of survivability of the Catholic Church for almost two millennia, and of He who is its head, will outlast them all.

  • @aubrey12345able Religion won't exist in 500 years from now. It exists for 2000 years because it's forced into people's mind. Have you ever thought that you would be raised in a completely different faith and far away from Christianity if Pope from 1500 wouldn't order a war to spread Christianity? Have you ever thought how many of your ancestors 1000y ago died defending their original beliefs and were forced into Christianity? How many of your grandmas were burned as witches in the name of Lord?

  • @FRiKiJDM could this be what the priest in this video meant when he said the other video was "fueling athiestic opinions"? I think so.......

  • @FRiKiJDM How many hospitals have been established because of religion? How man charities exist because o religion? The spead of christianity stopped human sacrifice in some countries and many christians were martyred for spreading the faith. And yet here it is.The faith is of divine origin and we have the assurance that the gates of hell will never prevail against the church. It will be here until the end of time. No worries there.

  • @FRiKiJDM Catholicism isn't forced into anyone's mind, that would go against God's law of free will. I am not sure what war you speak of in 1500? I guess you could say the Pope declared a war of sorts against Calvin & the Reformation, but they are Christian religions as well. I don't think any of my ancestors died because they refused Christianity, however some of them, especially those in Ireland may have died as a result of being Christian.

  • @aubrey12345able I should say, they died because they were Catholic.

  • @FRiKiJDM Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity at the time of her death had 610 missions in 123 countries including hospices and homes for people with HIV and AIDS. She established homes for people with leprosy and tuberculosis, soup kitchens, children's and family counseling programs, personal helpers, orphanages, and schools. The Missionaries of Charity were also aided by Co-Workers, who numbered over 1 million by the 1990s. Come on now.

  • @holymotclare And whole purpose was to help people right. It's economy, Church is the biggest money facility, and where there's money, there is mob. Helping Africa out, collecting lots of money, in 50 years those countries should stand up on their own and send their money to Vatican alright. I'm out of here, bless you.

  • @FRiKiJDM I have the privilege to know several priests from Africa and they work hard and love the church beyond belief. Their faith is so strong. it puts me to shame. I guess where some people criticize and find fault others roll up their sleeves and go to work . I pray the best or you.

  • @FRiKiJDM You can believe beacuse God is real. It takes a leap of aith either way so why not choose to believe? Don't live your life without hope when God loves you so much and wants you to have faith in Him You're too valuable for that.

  • @holymotclare You're spinning around in magic circle. When you're alright, God is great and loves you. When someone close to you dies, God is just testing you to see if you still love him. Come on. I'm out of here, I wish you all the best in life. If you go to heaven and don't see me there, please tell God to let me upstairs because I'm actually a good boy.

  • @FRiKiJDM Lol!! I pray you find that faith.

  • @FRiKiJDM what makes you think God has anything to do with all that you said? Just because some one says it is in the name of the lord doesn't mean that its true. all these people and things that you speak of are not God and not of God but of man, for we are flawed. Yes God will forgive you for being atheist, but you have to give him a chance to.

  • This video did convince me

  • Lols . This guy doesnt give a two cent about da poor . Gtfoh

  • @allabteam That is a judgmental and foolish statement. You have no idea what this priest does for the poor. I'll bet it's alot more than you.

  • i don't get it.. isn't the church the people not the building? what i see isn't a church, its people arguing about how we serve Him.@holymotclare doesn't it say when two people gather in my name the spirit will be present? i sure it didn't say when two or more people gather in my name in a catholic church or in a nondenominational church my spirit will be there. i have friends in China and Japan that gather in caves and fell the spirit of the Lord fill the mountain sides..

  • @manny665 In Ireland when the catholic church was persecuted people gathered in ields and Mass was said on huge stones and the same thing in the Ukraine when communism tried to wipe out religion. The fact is that Jesus established a church, and that church was the catholic church. It existed before the New Testament was available to anyone. It will continue to exist with or without buildings. But what is wrong with having a building?

  • @holymotclare its not about the building or none on that. you so fixated on the catholic church why don't you worship the catholic church then? just because the event happened doesn't make the catholic church the only church that that can happen from. the hole point is about Jesus not the church or religion. if you have Christ in your heart then you demonstrate loving him by following his word and commandments.all will fall in place. the church doesn't stir the spirit to come we as Christians do

  • @manny665 " doesn't stir the spirit to come". Im sorry I don't know what you mean by that statement. I worship God, and I love the church established by Jesus Christ. Sorry if you have a problem with that. Jesus came to establish a religion.

  • @manny665 The Holy Spirit is present at every Mass and the bread and wine become the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is why I love Christ's church.

  • @holymotclare and i say the same for my Church, but that's why i love Christ more. you boast more about your church then you God... don't you think that's a problem brother? we are of the same people. we are brothers in Christ but it just seems to me that we are worshiping two different things.. we take the bread and wine to remember Him and his Example. no matter what church your in, as long as you have Christ in your heart

  • @manny665 I love Jesus and I love His church. Scripture is clear that it is the real presence of Christ. Body, blood, soul and divinity. Ask yourself why you are so upset that someone loves Christ's church.

  • @holymotclare im not upset about that the only thing that im upset about is that we all believe in the same thing Jesus, yet we sit here and fight among ourselves about how to crack the egg the right way. When we should be encouraging one another to speak up against the enemy. to be honest i am so glad that i can come on here and see so many pple that love Christ and worship him. i just feel like we are fighting the wrong people brother.

  • @manny665 Well I don't feel that this video was meant to argue with anyone but instead to defend the catholic church, and if you read some of the comments there are people who hate the catholic church vehemently. This is not of God. We should love one another as christians, you are right! You will be in my prayers be assured and I hope you pray for me.

  • @holymotclare and i will be praying for you as well God bless you!

  • @manny665 How can you determine that you love God more than someone else? Isn't that very prideful and judgmental? You don't know my heart.

  • @holymotclare no brother forgive me for the misinterpretation, im not saying that i love God more then you, im simply saying that i love God more then i love the church

  • @manny665 It's ok!! I must have misunderstood! One thing we can agree on is that Jesus is Lord. God bless you!

  • Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year's wages. John12:5

  • Was the church in this video jesus's idea of a church? Would it anger him to know how much money went into building it instead of feeding the poor? Isn't this man's idea of making their own heaven on earth with all the gold and wealth? Look how much effort it took to build these fantastically emense buildings and tell me what is important appearances or telling others about jesus. What would an outsider think when they see these buildings? Buildings like these are so superficial

  • @kcalbnad And the pope has a golden throne, yet, we dont see him cashing it in and feeding the hungry.

  • @josemp0944 The chair you speak of isnt the Popes, the Pope actually doesnt own any of the Churches artefacts. It belongs to every member of the Catholic Church. All 1.9 billion of us.

Besides the chair is NOT made of Gold. It has gold paint. It is just a lie perpetrated by anti-Catholics. Be weary of liars.

  • @josemp0944 In 2004 More than 1,688 local Catholic Charities agencies & institutions provided services (food, clothing, housing, education, counseling, healthcare, etc.) to 8,522,997 unduplicated individuals in need of help in the United States alone (worldwide # is much greater). We are very blessed to be so large that we can do this as Jesus commissioned us, and build beautiful churches for the glory of God. Isn't God good!

  • @aubrey12345able Yes, but it's better to give almost all the money to the hungry and use only a little to make basic repairs, after all, a church is a group of people worshiping, regardless of size or beauty of a building.

  • @josemp0944 That is the same attitude Judas had when he rebuked the woman for anointing Jesus with expensive oil, and not selling it to get money for the poor. The heart was in the right place, but Judas didnt understand that the lady was actually glorifying God. And Jesus rebuked Judas, and commended that lady. Give what is due to God to God, and give to the poor what we can give.

  • All of you ! Please don't let the devil playing you and go with you to the hell

There is no god but Allah

Ibrahim is prophet,no more (peace be upon him)

so,you have to know there one god ,no Jesus !

  • @wmrak84 Christians believe that Jesus is God. Jesus was more than a prophet. This is clearly revealed in the New Testament.

  • @wmrak84 "And if thou (Muhammad) art in doubt concerning that which we reveal unto thee, then ask those who read the Scripture (that was) before thee." Sura Yunus 10:95

  • @wmrak84 Is Your God Merciful?

  • @The01naruto Yes he is.He is known

I want to know ,what does your religion ?

    I'm Moslem and you ?

  • Religion is just tradition with no change.

Christianity which means followers of Christ is not a religion.

It's having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ & there is change.

I was born & raised catholic, but then Christ showed me the truth. I realize now how contradicting the catholic church is. Many things that they do contradict the word of God. It's religion because there's no change & just tradition passed on from generation to generation till someone finally breaks the change.

  • @clawdia132 can you please share what you think the "contradictions" are?

  • @clawdia132 "Hold fast to the traditions you were taught, by letter, or by an oral statement of ours' (2Thess2:15)

"I praise you for holding fast to the traditions as I handed them onto you" (1Cor11:2)

  • @clawdia132 Christianity is a religion. I you didn't have a relationship with Christ in the catholic church then you were not exposed to authentic catholic teaching. The catholic church is centered around Jesus. When I go to Mass I receive Jesus Christ, and not an hour of preaching by a man. I receive more of God's word than I ever did in a nondenominational church. The catholic church is the truth.

  • @clawdia132 it is true that the Catholic Church has not (and cannot) change its teachings. The Deposit of Faith was revealed, whole and entire, 2000 years ago--its source is Jesus Christ, the Divine Word of God, with Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition as the 2 streams flowing from Him, the One Source of Revelation.

  • Religion is bullshit, there is no god, get your head out of the clouds

  • @seankav2k9 Says you.

  • @seankav2k9 I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than to live my life as if there is no God and die to find out there is. What about you?

  • one day for health class I had to watch a fake baby. the child was just like a real one cried and everything. And on Sunday, i went to church like I always do, mind you i got to a Catholic church, and i've never been the witness to so many judgmental stares in my life. i felt like i was a horrible person, even though i was caring a life. and child of god (if real) but the church looked at me like as if i didn't belong. Church judges. when they are suppose to be the most excepting.

  • @HelloitsCaralynn77 I am sorry that happened to you. People can be deceitful & judgmental, both of which are sins, but God & his Church are not.

  • @HelloitsCaralynn77 Maybe they were just looking to see what was wrong. There are lots of crying babies in our church at Mass every Sunday and no one seems to mind! Lol! But it is nice when a child is really upset to go to the cry room so as not to disturb others.

  • The CHURCH is the people not the steeple.

  • If religion is so great, why did it start so many wars? Why does is fail to help the poor?

  • @JakTheShepherd THe Catholic Church feeds, clothes, houses & educates more poor people than any other gov't or charity on the planet, pretty much has since its existence & that's regardless of a person's religious beliefs. While some religions have been responsible for wars, not all of them have. Also some wars are defensive, started in order to protect something, and some wars have had nothing to do with religion at all

  • @aubrey12345able No it hasn't "Free the Children" a Canadian made Charity organization has easily made more and given more to the poor. They've created villages they've had celebreties donate and even one like on facebook is a one dollar donaion, and they have over 2 million likes. While Religion is spending millions on a holy building, charities like Free the Children are spending things on programs like "Build a Village". You've fallen silly under propaganda. Tch tch haha

  • @JakTheShepherd In addition to cathoic charities there are many other charities within the church such as St. Vincent De Paul society and programs within each diocese. How many years has catholic charities been in place? Free the children was founded in 1995.

  • @JakTheShepherd Jak, Jak. please let's not get petty, it's unnecessary, and I don't think God would like it either, OK? These stats are 2004, & only USA,I'll try & get more recent 1s;1,688+ local Cath.Charities agenc &instits provided srvcs to 8,522,997 unduplicated individuals in need of help in 2004:

Provided Srvcs that Build Strong Communities to 3,646,222 pple (soc supprt, educ, etc) Provided Food Srvcs to 6,287,891 pple,

  • @aubrey12345able Provided Srvcs that Strengthen Families to 1,071,463 people (counsl, immagrat, addict, refugee, preg, svs),Provided Housing Related Srvs to 598,953 pple, Provided Other Basic Needs Srvcs to 1,741844 people

  • @tlc555555 And Fr. stated his opinions, in defense of the Church he loves. The line he used was ..."it's fueling atheistic opinions" and if you think about it, Jeff's video could do just that.

  • There have been two great scandals of Christianity. First, that our leader was put to death as a criminal on the cross. Second, the flawed individuals that He left to carry on His work. The have both been a stumbling block to many, but those who take seriously what Jesus was about in the Gospels will not be discouraged by them.

  • Oh god ! why all this for JESUS

you all have to know the ISLAM religion is the best

and it just helps you in your life !

  • @wmrak84 Because Jesus is God incarnate. John1:1

  • @holymotclare May god forgive me and you !

    What are you saying ?

Do you think there is god really ? Such as Allah ?

Allah is one just and he hasn't sons and IBRAHIM is prophet no more !

All of you ! Please don't let the devil playing you and go with you to the hell

  • @wmrak84 I respect your beliefs but you must understand that as catholics we believe that Jesus is God the Son. It was a stumbling block for the Jews and Romans and many christians were martyred for this belief at the beginning of the church's existence. To deny Him would be impossible for a catholic.

  • @wmrak84 Yes I believe in God.

  • Peter answered Jesus "You are the Christ the son of the living God" Jesus gave him An A+++ saying "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church" Right afterwards Peter acted out of self, Jesus rebuked him as Satan! It's not on Peter the person he would build his Church, But on the Revelation represented, That Christ is the son of the living God. We are all Peter's when we have this revelation. On this rock, this revelation, God will build HIS beloved church. Mat16

  • @fightingBarbie Pedophilia is higher in Protestant Churches, and higher again among the general population. Everyone needs to help reduce this to zero regardless of religious affiliation and creed.

  • Memorial of St. Ploycarp of Smyrna "Wherefore, forsaking the vanity of many, and their false doctrines, let us return to the word which has been handed down to us from the beginning (Jude 3); “watching unto prayer” (1 Peter 4:7), and persevering in fasting; beseeching in our supplications the all-seeing God “not to lead us into temptation” (Matthew 6:13) as the Lord has said: “The spirit truly is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41; Mark 14:38)."

  • @aubrey12345able St. Polycarp was a disciple of the Apostle John and a major leader of the Christian church in the 2nd century. Although based in Asia Minor, he was the first known Christian leader to go to Rome for the express purpose of denouncing various heretics/heresies and to turn people back to the true Christian church

  • Jesus enjoys walks on the beach, reading and watching mankind suffering

  • This should go viral!

  • @YOUNGLEGIONNAIRE Paul called himself Father multiple times. Can you call no one teacher too?? How about Mr and Mrs? Modern forms of the term Master? Jesus was speaking in hyperbole, to make the pharases realize all authority comes from God. He doesn't mean call no one father, teacher, master (mr and mrs).what would be the point of that?

  • what if i told u that jesus loves religion ?

    owned in the first verse.

    good job father :)

  • Thank God for the truth of the catholic church!

  • That other foo saying jesus > religion just got rosted by this priest ^-^

  • Proud to be a Catholic!

  • @TheWhosoever316 I work in youth ministry for the Church & I can assure you the younger generations are not going anywhere..they're thriving & living the faith

  • This video is a pure example of Proverbs 14:12

  • @itsdarellcuh Matthew 5:10

  • God looks only on those who seek him!

  • @ProphetessAshanti The Church is the pillar of truth (1 Tim 3:15) because there can only be one truth which Protestant denomination to you propose speaks the ONE truth?

  • @ProphetessAshanti Then why bother renaming Simon to Rock, then saying 'on this rock I will build my Church'?he doesn't say "on your belief I will build my church. He says YOU ARE rock and ON THIS rock I will build my Church.

  • @BehindCrossroads In other words. How do you know the books in the Bible are the word of God?

  • @BehindCrossroads Yes. And how do you believe God chose to give us the Bible? Did it fall from the sky? My point is before the Bible was composed the early Church was using several scriptures that are not in the bible today, as well as some groups excluding others like the book of revelations. The Catholic Church then held a council (as they would do in Acts) and determined what books should make up the Bible. Do you believe they had the authority to do so?

  • Lame. Go touch some boys...

  • @turnagainoutlaw Your lame. grow up idiot

  • BTW for those that reduce themselves to marking a really good comment spam because it gets under your skin and you have not real response, shame on you. Seriously kids.

  • @lakergurl1000 No he needs to be thanked for pointing out the errors in the first. i didnt know jeff copyrighted his video. can you copyright ignorance of scripture?

  • @altaredei1 Can you point out the fallacies of his ignorance of scripture?

  • @geedup415 james 1:27 God does not hate religion.

  • @altaredei1 You gotta be able to differentiate between what type of religion. There's vain religion and pure religion. God does hate one of these and it's not the one mentioned.

  • @geedup415 " why i hate religion" thats the title and its silly. in i hate candy but i love twizzlers!

  • @geedup415 Jeff bethkes first line is "what if I told you Jesus came to abolish religion". he must be reading a different bible.

  • @geedup415 i hate fruit...but i love apples! i hate i hate wood but i love trees! i hate cars but i love toyotas! Silly stuff

  • @geedup415 another line"Jesus and religion are on opposite spectrums" I guess he didn't read the book of James.

  • @lakergurl1000 The music is the only piece in question here and it was used with permission by both Bethke and Pontifex. It's not the property of Bethke and it's the only thing that is the same. Maybe you should read the credits before you post.

  • @lakergurl1000 ok, then why hasn't it happened yet?

  • well, I'm not apart of a religion. I live in The Way, The Truth, and The Life, not a religion. A religion is any set of rules and rituals. Thats not the way the Holy Spirit works. I will say, very eloquent words from my Catholic brother.

  • @Zakzoome All the things you are saying form a system of beliefs. A system of beliefs is a religion. What you basically are saying is that you are not going to submit to the religion that Jesus established but you choose to develop your own.

  • @MrStealthninja1000 no need for the hate man. no, really, really. i'm not in a religion. lol Jesus came to set us free from the law, not hold us to just another religion (a set of rituals and beliefs)

  • Trying to imply that I believe in an almighty and loving God but I do not trust organized religion is a lot like saying I am a medical doctor but I have never been to medical school.

  • Catholic priests do not claim to forgive sins by their own power, it is through God that sins are forgiven. John 20:21-23. Jesus gave this power to his apostles and priests are simply their successors. It does not depend on the priest being sinless because as human beings they are in need of forgiveness also and they go to confession as well.

  • @holymotclare then why bother going to the priest if you can go directly to God? David in Psalm 51 prayed directly to God. The 12 Apostles didn't confess their sins to Jesus.

  • @BehindCrossroads When I go to a priest I am going to God. The priest is not God but it is God who forgives me. Also there is a practical aspect of getting help or counseling. If someone is struggling with a particular sin they may need that guidance. Of course I ask God to forgive me every night before I go to bed for whatever I have done that displeases Him. God always hears us, but Jesus conferred on His apostles the power to bind and loose.

  • @geedup415 You are not disrespectful and I appreciate that. Confession is a sacrament in the catholic church and it was established in Jn 20:21-23. This was after the resurrection and before He ascended. He gave the apostles the power to do what He did. When He healed a man, He said " your sins are forgiven" and the jews wanted to kill Him because of this.

  • @holymotclare We need to make amends in soome way. Our salvation can never be earned because Jesus paid the price but in His great mercy He allows us to participate in His mission. If I harm you seriously, you may forgive me, but maybe I need to undo some of the damage I have done for you to heal. Everything we do effects others.

  • @geedup415 The problem with using scripture alone, solo fides is that many things have developed over time and were in the scriptures in seminal form. We must remember that the system of scripture alone was not even considered until the "reformation" and I use that term only for historical accuracy. It was no reformation.

  • @MrStealthninja1000 Scripture alone is also not found in the scripture, in fact the scripture tell us to hold to the traditions wether that of scripture or oral. It also tells us that the church has authority, as well as the apostles and diciples individually.

  • @holymotclare But you're wrong. He do not need to do that. in fact, going to a priest hinders us from hearing God. There is only one priest, Hebrews 4 : 14-16.

  • @nbrikha No I don't think so. I went to a nondenominational evangelical church for a long time. So I have seen both sides of the issues talked about on this board and I believe the catholic church is the church established by Christ. I thank God everyday that I am back in the catholic church and that He gave me the grace come back to the truth. God bless

  • @BehindCrossroads We go directly to God, confessing our sins in prayer. However Christ instituted the sacrament of reconciliation in order to distribute his Grace. This sacrament is rooted in the mission God gave to Christ in his capacity as the Son of man on earth to go and forgive sins (cf. Matt. 9:6). Thus, the crowds who witnessed this new power "glorified God, who had given such authority to men" (Matt. 9:8; note the plural "men").

  • @David82576 Yes. Beautiful explanation

  • @David82576 How exactly did Christ "institute" the sacrament of reconcilliation? Jesus alone had the power to forgive sins being that He was God in the flesh but what is your point in pointing out the plurality in Matthew 9:8? BTW it's "and glorified God, which had given such power unto men." Just asking btw.

  • @geedup415 I think he has already answered that if you unspam the posts. Some people do not want the truth. It is sad that because someone cannot debate the facts they just want to hide the truth.

  • @geedup415 umm im going to keep asking questions and then mark ur answers as spam so you wont make me look like an IDIOT. Man u r pathetic!
