I played at this contest and only now hear why Fairy won its brill. Some say we in the older days could not play but this is good example that we could.
I don't know about underrated Tinners. Brian was certainly very highly rated by all who knew him and played with him, and I understand that any band would have snapped him up in an instant had he become available but he was happy where he was at Faireys. Whilst it's true he didn't seem to have the status of Shepherd, McCann, Marshall and the like, Brian was (is) known and respected in the brass band world, and many would say he's the best cornet player Lancashire ever produced. (apart from me)

Quality stuff !!!!!! Brian Taylor surely is the most underrated principle cornet in the history of banding???????????
