And if you learn how to shoot, you know how to use a scopes mil dots. Also James is a Ranger as well as an EOD tech, just look on his right shoulder he has a Ranger tab and they learn how to shoot Barrett rifles. So if someone who is trained with the rifle tells you how to use it it is pretty self-explanatory.

Unrealistic scene - sniper wouldn't choose the only building in the whole area to hide in. And they wouldn't be leaning out of the window to do their stuff. I would expect SAS/SBS - ex or otherwise - to be more professional. And who says that all bomb disposal troops are automatically trained in using the Barrett .50. Nice camera work but unrealistic.

Small corrections on a .50 at that range. You have to account for range, weather (this being heat) speed, wind (probably a few mph wind which will effect your shot)
Rounds at that range don't necessarily go straight at your target. So if your target is in your scope, dead on, you actually have to adjust to compensate your flight time of the round and direction.

@daz2142 to be honest the british in this film were pretty stupid, as they were mercenaries (not SAS which people seem to think they are) and the Iraqi snipers couldn't just aim in the same spot, its not call of duty sniping actually takes a lot of time and precision...

This scene never ceases to keep me on my toes. Not only can you see the fear and urge to fight in the soldiers’ eyes, but even the heat in the sky. Unrealistic scene - sniper wouldn't choose the only building in the whole area to hide in. And they wouldn't be leaning out of the window to do their stuff. I would expect SAS/SBS - ex or otherwise - to be more professional. And who says that all bomb disposal troops are automatically trained in using the Barrett .50. Nice camera work but unrealistic.

One comment is right, its only a film. One fact for you though, When you get shot at you have high chance of been killed, doesn't matter if you are a US Special, SAS or IDF SF.
All said I think the director should have put more research into the differing methods of engagement between the two, if we are lead to believe the Brits are SAS. I would have to say that if that sort of behaviour went on in my FT I would be less than impressed but then again its only a film.

Small corrections on a .50 at that range. You have to account for range, weather (this being heat) speed, wind (probably a few mph wind which will effect your shot)
Rounds at that range don't necessarily go straight at your target. So if your target is in your scope, dead on, you actually have to adjust to compensate your flight time of the round and direction.
