im fine with not knowing anything about womens sports, but maybe if he didnt waste his audience on a question he already knew the answer to the aud. could have got it.
Lisa Leslie would later appear on the Olympic edition, but only 8 people could get into the hot seat. She and Stacy Dragila didn't make it, but their charities each received $16,000.
That Lisa question could have been the million dollar question. Who the hell would know who Lisa Leslie is except for a bunch of lezbos or gambling addicts.
It's because of GSN's stupid practice of "time-compression" technology. Makes more time for commercials, which is annoying. It also annoys me that when the Regis version is shown on GSN, when a contestant leaves, it abruptly cuts to commercial.
Anyone should know Lisa Leslie is well known from Basketball, it's a very familiar name, and Volleyball has noone important enough for anyone to remember, it's not a major sport.
I think this is the only contestant I've ever seen who said "I don't think any of my phone-a-friends would know this" during the first 5 questions (that is, with 2 lifelines still left)
The confederate president was a tough question. I still know it. That should have been a $8k question. I never would get the $1000 question right. I don't know Lisa Leslie. Not a women's sports fan.
Yeah, but an American who obviously had to go through grade school to become a doctor should know Jefferson Davis. The USA only had one civil war, and every schoolchild is taught about it.
Robby Roseman was the very first $0 weiner, pardon me, WINNER, who missed the first question, "What animals did Hannibal use to cross the Alps?" He narrowed it down to two by 50:50. The choices were B: Elephants (The correct answer) and C: LLAMAS (One incorrect answer which he chose). And now, everyone who misses question 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 has "llamaed out," or, left with $0.
This especially applies to Super Millionaire, which saw only one "llama" during its run (despite nobody winning the top prize, the closest anyone came to it was Robert Essig who won the mil after answering 12 questions right).
I was under the impression that it meant missing the very first question, although this poster used it to mean he left with $0, although he got the first question.
I am well aware of what happens, but though you can leave with nothing after answering the first question correctly, it still makes you look less like an idiot to at least get the first one right. I believe the person whose failure to give the answer of llamas to the first question was the origin of the phrase, and thus, even though this person left with $0, according to my understanding they didn't actually llama out.
I guessed Volleyball too...

Well, the minimum guarantee on a celeb show was $32K, so for each of them, half went to charity.

Actually, she was more well-known at the time. This was back when they were doing the WNBA experiment.

Not really..the only real people who would know who Lisa Leslie is are sports fanatics such as myself.
Even a 2-Minute Drill contestant would know the answer to that question.

David Gold got tarnished and sent back to the hospital because he got a "basketball" injury.

I sympathise with the guy... this was the worst set of first questions I have ever seen on Millionaire.
I have no idea who Lisa Leslie is. I don't follow sports at all.
I also would have wrongly guessed Lee on the Confederate question because that's the only name I recognize. (In my defense I'm not American)
And I have never heard of "bats in the belfry" either, though I would've gotten it right if I had to guess.

Yeah, I think it was that lady that called Regis a dude.
"Did she just call me dude?" lol!
But they stopped airing Super Millionaire on GSN recently...know what replaced it?
The short lived William Shatner-hosted SHOW ME THE MONEY.
"Let's salsa!" lol! Gotta love the dancers on there, though. Best part about it. There's only one clip of SMTM on Youtube that I know of.
mrjohnnynitro 4 years ago
Show Me The Money was a crime against humanity. I'm not surprised that it was originally supposed to be on FOX.
They should bring Super Millionaire back so there could be two shows that offered $10 mil. Also I turn 18 in April so I would be eligible then.

Here's what happens if you miss a question. If its one of the first 5 questions, you win nothing. Questions 6-10, $1,000. Last 5 questions, $32,000.

They use the term llama to refer to any $0 loser on Millionaire, not just people who miss the first question.
