Our video editor purchased the sound software for $1,000 as part of Apple's Final Cut Pro and has full rights to it's use.
I think it's completely stupid! I don't understand why Viacom all of sudden started taking down all my videos! my personal opinion: Viacom may be a multimillion dollar media conglomerate company. However, youtube is a community of trillions of people. Even though we as the youtube community dont have trillions of dollars, we still have more people than they do. its money vs. Strength in numbers

YouTube doesn't want to take these videos down. But when they get a copyright claim, they can't risk a lawsuit that could cost them money, and possibly take them into debt. There are also user groups that are specifically devoted to getting material removed from youtube and one of the methods that they use is looking through videos for any little thing that might be copyrighted. YouTube doesn't have the manpower to go through every single copyright claim. Now I admit that part of the problem is youtube's system. But they aren't solely to blame. These users are a part of this problem.
It is their flawed system. It is their fault. If their system was working right these things would not be an issue. It is NOT about man power it is about the system. If you had watched the two videos I mentioned to you, you would understand this now.
I did watch the two videos that you mentioned. And while, yes I do agree that their system is flawed, that isn't the only problem. As long as there are people out their that want to use the system to malicious intent, then the system will be used, no mater what system that they have. You can't plan for everything.

I agree you can not plan for everything, but at the same time if they showed that they had our best interest at hand then it would be very easy for me and anyone else to give them the benefit of the doubt. Let me put this in the simplest terms possible. Content creators create and upload content that brings users to this site. Content brings viewers. Viewers brings advertisers. Advertisers brings money to support the site. NO CONTENT NO REVENUE! This is not disputable. THEY ARE BITING THE HAND THAT FEEDS THEM. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! There is a way to make this a win win for everyone, but youtube is to DAMN THICK HEADED to listen to anyone else besides their corporate stooges.
Youtube doesn't get enough different advertisers to make enough revenue to support youtube. There are maybe a few hundred different adds in total. That brings in a total maybe numbering in the hundred thousands. because most advertisers are small time. But the cost of running youtube numbers in the millions. And while I too believe that there may be a way to make this work for everybody, that's not going to happen without change and a large amount of money.
Clearly they dont get enough, but before we discuss this any further I suggest you take a good look at my blog and my story of why I am not a youtube partner. I have read, and more importantly, I understand what you've been saying from the start. But what you've been doing mostly is rallying people against youtube. You know very well that YouTube is in a state of money vacuum. And while this continues they can't afford any lawsuits. Sorry, one thing that I'm not is a supporter of YouTube's screwups. But they really have no money left, google isn't going to give them anymore until they prove that they can make money. They just dont need to listen because just like the government, they dont have to until you MAKE THEM.

YouTube doesn't want to take these videos down. But when they get a copyright claim, they can't risk a lawsuit that could cost them money, and possibly take them into debt. They don't WANT to do this, but economically, they HAVE to. You can't blame YouTube, you have to blame the companies themselves.

There are also user groups that are specifically devoted to getting material removed from youtube and one of the methods that they use is looking through videos for any little thing that might be copyrighted. YouTube doesn't have the manpower to go through every single copyright claim. Now I admit that part of the problem is youtube's system. But they aren't solely to blame. These users are a part of this problem.

But you have to remember that they are a business, and without seeing ther business projections on any modifications that they would be making to YouTube, we shouldn't judge them. Because they have made it clear that they are trying to make modifications, and if you believe that it's all in an attempt to demote us as the users, then anything that they do will seem towards any purpose wll seem that way

Yes. Were it not for these corporate users Youtube would not exist. Being in an economic recession right now, many companies, Google included, have to make cuts. If they believed that they couldn't make money off of this sight, it wouldn't be around. The funny thing is that you are being more naive than I am. Let me put this in the simplest terms possible. Content creators create and upload content that brings users to this site. Content brings viewers. Viewers brings advertisers. Youtube doesn't get enough different advertisers to make enough revenue to support youtube. There are maybe a few hundred different adds in total. That brings in a total maybe numbering in the hundred thousands. because most advertisers are small time. But the cost of running youtube numbers in the millions. And while I too believe that there may be a way to make this work for everybody, that's not going to happen without change and a large amount of money.

I have read, and more importantly, I understand what you've been saying from the start. But what you've been doing mostly is rallying people against youtube. You know very well that YouTube is in a state of money vacuum. And while this continues they can't afford any lawsuits. Sorry, one thing that I'm not is a supporter of YouTube's screwups. But they really have no money left, google isn't going to give them anymore until they prove that they can make money. And despite them being combined, they are still worked by two different teams. I'm pretty sure that google has set making money as a task for the YouTube team still remaining.
