A fifth Canadian soldier has paid the ultimate price today in Afghanistan.

Private Sebastian Courcy, 26, a member of the Second Battalion, Royal 22nd Regiment (Vandoos) based at CFB Valcartier, Quebec, was killed in an incident approximately 17 km southwest of Khandahar City. The incident ocurred around 6am Thursday morning.

Pte Courcy is the fifth Canadian solider killed this month in Afghanistan and the 125th Canadian killed, since Canada's participation in the Afghanistan conflict.
