A farmer gave me a ride on a machine similar to this just 2 weeks ago. It had the plow type thing in the back but the one that he had went straight across (not at an angle like this one) and it was twice or thrice as wide. He was only going about 5 miles an hour because he was trying to save gas rather than get the job done quickly.
If I were to plough our red soil wet like that, it would be as hard as the Interstate highway when it dried out. And if by some act of god, I was ever able to get some machine to pierce its surface, I would have boulders and bricks for years to come. You would totally ruin a field here if you did something like that to it. I thoroughly enjoyed the video although I feel a little sick after having seen it.
@chester8420 Ground is frozen under the water. That is snow melt in december on top of frozen ground. Got warm enough to melt the snow and allow the plow to break through the crust, but not enough to let the water soak in. No soil damage at all!
@cnhfarms we have ran Deere through 3 generations now, and we have never had a problem in the field with any of them, maintanance is a key factor with any equipment. I know alot of red and blue and yellow around here that have a service truck out to them everyday. But they aren't well maintained by the farmer.
@cormus1 thats true but if the factory sends them out fucked up theres nothin you can do, i now a guy who bought 3 brand new JDs with the bullet rotorys and the first day out ALL 3 had the rotory shaft brake and stuffed it straght forwardand screwed a lot up , the ran for 5 hours in grass seed
It is amazing how diffrent soil types require diffrent tillage. We farm black soil and this would be impossible! Soils with clay not only require diffrent applications, but also a very skilled and competent farmer!
why dont u wait a few days till it dries up? that headland is gonna be packed to fuck! even if ur plowing it after, the compaction is deeper than the depth u are plowing.
Actually the corn grew just as well on the headland as the rest of the field the next year. That was in December, waiting a few days would have meant spring plowing as the ground froze the very next day.
That farm consistently does 165bpa in corn and 50bpa in beans. It is a heavy clay loam soil with a very stony sub soil. Ripping isn't an option and in 2008 there was a wet fall and little could be no-tilled. You are more than likely not from eastern Ontario and therefor can in no way make an educated assessment of yields or how plowing will affect the soil here.
@Farmerknowsbest the ground does not freeze that deep on one day, and you would have been better off plowing that if the first 2 or 3 inches were frozen anyways.
@wilko1297000 when the ground is almost froze when plow it over in the spring when it thaws out all u got to do is hit it with a disk once and its breaks up smoother then youve ever seen
If its red.......keep it in the field, if its green (except Fendt) keep it in your pocket....... JDs suck, only thing keepin them in business is their brand loyaltie.....I wouldnt by a new Deere, when I can get a MF cheaper and so much more reliable. The 9250 is a bit of an overkill, with my uncle we'are using a MF 2775 with 7 bottoms, but the 4wd is probably nice in th emud, the front of the 2775 sinks in mud from all the weight of the V8 and weights :)
@wstarcummins We have been on the fence buying new machinery, but deere do make great machines. we have harvested with 50, 60, and the new 70 series bullet rotor and it is unmatched compared to the 9120 track combine we demo'd this year. they might seem overpriced but resale is exceptional, not to mention that deere controls 75% of all new tractor/combine sales. dont think that is brand loyalty.
@wstarcummins JD do feel very proud of their coulor and thier name, maybe thats their key to success in buisness. but personal i do agree that their so many other companies which have better advantages than JD tractors. i would buy magnum or fendt 939 (so many more advantages) over an 8R, but what people don't get is its overated becuase of the of the new look and style, so JD sucks all the way
oh the color bashing!!! Farming isn't a game or an emotional reaction, it is a business. My uncle made it thru the terrible 80s using one thought, to make business decisions without letting emotions take first place or have the final vote. He had a rainbow in his machine shed, some great machines, some not so great, but he survived. I try to follow that mind set and do ok. When I go to the bank that check goes to my account and not some other. Many others can too, but I think they are fewer.
@killaking941 Case IH has more torque and power then jd. Case has higher visibility than jd And Cost Less!!! The reason jd is so Expensive is the name and paint!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
whats up with the cases there JUNK it is a shame people are not that smart nowadays we have a John Deere 8650 that alone pulls a 31ft disc and a crumblier and i can pull all that it b3/b4 without 4x4
@killaking941 You obviously have no concept of anything to do with farming. I wouldn't have a 8650 Deere if it was given to me. We have a 9170 CASE IH and it is a workhorse. The deeres of those vintages are good paperweights...with the exception of a few. I don't understand the point of paying for GREEN paint when a red, or blue, or orange or whatever tractor will do just as good of a job for a lot less. Parts are less expensive too, and made in the US, not China like Deere!
@maverick12212000 yea okay what ever dude deers are not made in CHINA you just jealous that i can afford quality equipment and this farm has been in my family for over 4 generations and we always have used nothing but THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not some piece of shit that you call a CASE IH
@killaking941 he did say the deere was made in china he said the JD parts are made in china. Look on the boxes next time you buy some parts if you don't believe it. Most deere parts are china made. but yes the deere is assembled in the US.
@maverick12212000 just to let you know, Deere does have parts made right here in the U S A. I am making something for them right now. The parts are only as good as the engineering.
@ureonmyhitlist actually most of the combines are made in moline illinois, but deere is junk anyway, deere is overpriced junk because case makes bigger tractors with more hp and that last longer
Which is wonderful, but it is a damn expensive green paint job. Why are you watching/commenting on a video if it makes you mad. We had a 1466, 966, 766, 706, and a Farmall C plus case combines. we also had masseys and olivers. One tractor was a john deere and was junk, the pto worked only half the time, and it was overpriced...when it got sold, it sold for more than our ford 4x4 tractor, you know why? That green paint.
@killaking941 Deer is junk, own a bunch of old 2 cylinder johnny poppers but wouldn't own anything newer except the old 4000 series. They get most of their money from advertisements and teen age guys and girls who have never been on a farm who buy john deere t shirts and hats. Their tractors are shit now.
@killaking941 case are a great tractor...thers not a heat wrong with them there the same as new-hollands when your john deere gives bother and your out a fortune and the case goes flying by then you will know about how good your deere is :)
wow that totaly diffrent from the way i farm in alberta wow we couldnt go through mudd like that and we zero till everything we dont work the land or plow it
Do you guys not no-till your beans or is that going back into corn? Have you planted anything yet? How far east are you, we are in the port hope area.
Yes I know of the Burnhams Farmers Market, lol, I get my pumpkins from there, and I planted beans right across the road last year. I have a buddy in ottawa that I try a visit every year, real nice country you are in.
its called hard pan when ever you plow ground after a few years of plowing you create a bottom unless you rip it then your skrewed here in nc I take a 4560 deere and a 26 foot 630 deere disc and pull thru water a foot deep to dry it out come back in a hour and disc it level
Not this year. TS130A needed a little help getting moving a couple times on greasy frozen ground but nothing to write home about. Have a look through my website to see the mud we fought ALL year long in 2008. Link in the description.
at first in octiber, then we waited, then by the first week of november we said to hell with it, took off the wheels on 3 of my combines, put on tracks, on my 4th combine we just put better mud tires on it (didnt last long)
Looks very interresting. I might need to never try this.
