  • What I would love to know is what were the conditions on the GTR run. The ZR1 ran its time on June 27th which is in Summer weather. The GTR looks like it ran its time in fall/spring weather or much colder weather based on the trees. Temperature makes a big difference especially with turbo cars because it impacts the discharge temperatures, air density and the intercooler's cooling effect.

  • whats arguable is that although the GTR boasts all wheel drive, it benefits only from a slightly more favorable start. After that, it fails to grip as hard, and could've used the added weight from an AWD system for a more powerful engine instead. Engineer decisions that could've been made better..

  • Seriously? You think the GTR only benefits slightly on the start with its AWD system? How about stability all around? That car only loses control (oversteer) when you push it wayy beyond its limit. And now, they test it at Nurburgring, one of the toughest track in the world, full of crests, uneven-like pavement.. It's full of advantage towards the GTR, but the ZR1 still managed to beat it. Gotta give the ZR1 its due credit, its a muscle car than actually turn and has beaten many supercars even

  • ZR1 got the gtr on the last longass straight since the ZR1 has over 150hp and 400lbs lighter compare to the gtr, Given if the gtr had as much hp as the ZR1 it would definitely beat the ZR1 on this track. Nonetheless good vid. Both good cars.

  • something is up with the test GTRs, i believe its on a softer than stock compound tire and it is incredibly loud in these vids,

  • The GTR proving to be incredibly unreliable vehicle as well. Just cruising through the blog you can see it has been in the shop several times with one visit resulting in a complete drivetrain removal! The end result is a supercar that is in the shop almost as long as it is out of the shop. What a shocker!

  • Morons driving the launch control too hard on any car and of course that shit is going to break...

  • Corvette ZR1 runs a 7:26 at Nurburgring 0 - 60 @ 3.3 Sec 1/4 mile @11.2 Sec @ 130.5 mph 60 mph - 0 mph @ 96 ft 1.10 G's Skid pad 9/10 - eye appeal ( Women ) Nissan GT-R runs a 7:38 at Nurburgring 0 - 60 @3.8 sec 1/4 mile @ 11.8 sec @ 118 mph 60 mph -0 mph @ 106 ft .93 G's Skid pad 6/10 - eye appeal ( Being Nice )
  • you're a fag and should be shot for being STUPID!

  • OK look the real deal is that This vette is faster by two seconds. but no to hate on the vette it is a fast car but you have to look at the type and power difference. GT-R stock is only 295 horses and the ZR1 a tune race model is at least 450 horse. I mean the transmission are built but the ZR1 is a tuned up model. But it only seems more even to get a MINES GT-r vs a ZR1. But tune the GT-R to 400 horses then it a good race

  • what last time i checked the gtr was rated at 500 crank hp and the zr1 was rated at 620 hp at the crank. the gtr was dyno tested at a little over 400 to the wheels while the zr1 was rated at a little over 500 to the wheels so where you got those numbers from ill never know.

  • Ignorant, the GTR is 480HP, that is WHY it is so damn fast.

  • Everyone here does realize that the GTR is a base model car and the ZR1 is what a 3rd gen ricer? Seriously if you want to compare the vette and the GTR get the base model vette and compare the lap times then. Stop your bitching that the vette is 2 freaking seconds faster on the Nurburgring wow, not like most of you can even drive it that fast yourself. Stop the complaining and wait until the GTR SpecV comes out then you will have the true race that you wanted..till then, Peace out.

  • Hey I agree with you that the GTR is still only a street tuned car, but 2 seconds is an eternity on a race track when you are going that quick.

  • yes it is an eternity but you have to think that Chevy only managed to be 2 seconds faster with almost 200 more HP. that's sad on Chevy's behalf.

  • 2 seconds is next to nothing on a racetrack as long as this. If this were a typical ~2 mile track that would be a huge lead.

  • Well, there goes a stupid comment by you. They tested these version of the cars because they're some of the most popular versions that came out in 2009.. What are you bitching about anyway? The new GTR SpecV is just about the same but with a slightly hp boost of 30-something ponies, and 200lbs less? You really think that'll make any difference against the new ZR1 with its new launch control? I dont think so, and neither should you.. Go cry to your mama, import lover.

  • actually the lightness of the car will make a difference considering it has more horsepower and now the lightness of the car should ensure, quicker turns at higher mph, i personally like both American/Import cars , but i dont really find the new ZR1 all that great how theyre trying to say it is... and the new gtr is quite nice but i always enjoyed it ancestors before it more, the actual SKYLINES.

  • @LeonMGO That same lightness is what can make it lose control even faster being a RWD with not that much aero downforce, but anywayz.. I too give the GT-R's predecessors much more credit than this R35...

  • LOL originally GTR started with a rolling start! They cheated lol. Anyways, there is a new king of the streets!

  • So did the vette idiot.

  • If you read my post ORIGINALLY the GTR did a rolling start, and the vette was a at a stand still originally. To make it fair they both did a rolling start. You internet warrior. geez

  • One advantage of the ZR1 is a drivetrain that can easily accept more pounds of boost for a quick hp upgrade. When this car was originally introduced it was going to have over 700hp.

  • How is that an advantage of the ZR1? ALL cars have drivelines that are overbuilt, and the GT-R is no exception. It was even designed to be overbuilt for the higher power level of the Spec-V.

  • The higher power level turned out to be only 5 horses more lol. Not laughing at you, just the irony.

  • That's not for sure though, the base GT-R is underrated by quite a bit so...

  • Sorry ABout the Last Comment Guys.

    BOTH CARS do this

  • ANother Thing

WHY does the Vette's Timer start AFTER the car has passed the blue Section near the Pit

And ENDS when the Vette just Meets the Blue Section at the PIT

Look at the Vette 21 seconds into the Youtube Vid Timers starts (Its Passed the Blue section)

Look at 7:49 into the youtube vid. Timer Ends As car just meets the Blue Section

  • This vid clearly shows that the ZR1's timer starts almost 1 sec after the GTR's. So the real time for the ZR1 is 7:27.4. Pause the video at 0:20 to verify it for yourself.

  • You are Damn Right ABout 20 seconds into this Youtube Vid I have the GTR's clock @ 00:01:00 Vette's @ 0:00:02 Center Clock @ 0:0:934 7:48 secs into this Youtube Vid GTR clock reads 7:28:40 Vette clock reads 7:26:4 Center Clock reads 7:28:515 How does a One second time difference become a 2 second difference????? May be the Clock nissan used was a GTR clock, Or should I say a FASTER CLOCK LOL I'll save my Screen shots
  • stop crying u too

  • @blinblinthing The clock on the GT-R video matches perfectly with the timer that was added to this video, the clock on the Corvette video doesn't stay in sync. GM used a slow clock to make the Corvette lap look faster, it doesn't make sense that Nissan would use a faster clock to make their lap look slower.

  • A 1 second advantage is not something that will last. The ZR1 with all its extra ammo barely beat a regular GTR. What do you think is going to happen when the Spec V GTR is released? The Plastic Fantastic's days are numbered. LOL. Poor GM. They spent all that money on the ZR1 and it's barely faster than a $70k Nissan. I predict the Vette fanboys will have mental breakdowns after the release of the Spec V GTR. Will GM still be around by then or will they be under new ownership? Toyota perhaps?

  • You can't trust Nissan! They originally released ringers to the press, that were launching in 3.1 secs. Lately, some newer models have been in the low 4s. Check Aug C+D. They also said that they used hand cut slicks, but later attributed it to "an error in translation" How convenient! Ringers with hand cut slicks, to get the press coverage, after that, it doesn't matter, their hype has been spun. Yes, its a great car, but old school Vette beats it anyway, even tho the GTR is loaded with hi-tech

  • The GTR never used cut slicks. That's dis-info that is spread by haters. LOL. There is only one test where the GTR has done a low 4 sec. 0-60 mph. The rest were all in the 3s. Which is more realistic? As far as ringers, the cars are available to the public and they are just as fast as the ones tested by the mags. Why do Vette fans have a hard time swallowing the truth? Are they afraid of the GTRs? LOL.

  • their is test from c&d,m&t, and others that have gotten 0-60 in 4 second range. Face it, a 480hp car weghing 400lbs can't run 0-60 in 3 seconds, that is just stupid to think that.

  • I'm happy to see that someone understand power/weight ratio....

  • I know it hurts all of your feelings, but the ZR1 is faster weather its 1 second faster or 3 seconds faster.

    Tough.

  • very good synchro on the video. if the gtr had 50more ponies the result might be different. the only place the zr1 pulls on the gtr is on the straights.

  • I look at it this way, until you have someone who is dedicated to be the "Timer Guy" at the nurburgring who can't be bought under the table by some car manufactor company to rate their car faster, there cannot be absolute assurance that these times are 100% accurate.

They have to use the same timing system for all vehicles start and stops in the exact same spot for all vehicles and only one person has access to this timer then they could say for an absolute fact that those time are accurate.

  • Ok, so now we have definitive proof that both these cars are awesome! The change in timer speeds could be related to slight differences between video and digital frame rates (eg NTSC=29.97fps) or other factors mentioned prior.

Also, when you say "original video," do you mean copies from manufacturers' in-car cams, or downloaded transcodings by someone else?

Also, there is no official scoring at the Ring, and neither car runs the entire 20832m lap. Mileage may vary.

  • When the ZR1 vid counter starts, the GTR counter has almost 1 sec on it. That gives the ZR1 a 1 sec head start. When the ZR1 vid hits 7:26.4, both the GTR vid counter and the neutral counter show 7:28.4. Methinks, the ZR1 vid is fishy. How did it gain an extra second from the start?

  • Yeah bro I've seen that to and its not hard to spot!

  • this is for all Chevy fanboy, ZO6 fanboy, ZR1 fanboy please explain this, according to the neutral timer the ZR1 finish at 7:28.548 and the GT-R finish at 7:29.149. where is this 3sec time chevy claiming that ZR1 achive over the GT-R coming from.

  • You can clearly see that the ZR1 has an almost 1 sec head start. It is faster than the GTR but only be 2 seconds which is not that impressive since the GTR is heavier and has less power. When the Spec V GTR is tested, it won't be a good day for the ZR1.

  • zr1 is a poor car

  • You did a great job in editing. Thanks. I watched all of them. Both videos clearly show the Chevy winning by just a few seconds. Makes you wonder how much faster the Chevy could run if it had the instantaneous shifting automatic (paddle shifter).....

    probably 10 seconds

  • The ZR1 counter starts at about 1 sec after the GTR counter and your counter. This results in the ZR1 having a slight head start. By the end of the vid, the gap between your counter and the ZR1 counter grows to 2 seconds. When the ZR1 vid hits 7:26.4, your counter shows 7:28.515, while the counter on the GTR vid shows 7:28.40. It seems that the gap between the two cars is not that much, about 1 sec. Am I missing something? I thought the ZR1 was 3 seconds faster than the GTR. Please explain.

  • Compared to my other video which was synchronized at 00:00:00, this is synchronized so that both cars start at the same spot. The timers of the 2 cars started at different points, but the difference is only about 0.4 to 0.58 sec.

It's possible this is just a glitch on the video editor used for the ZR1 video (or on how YouTube transcoded the uploaded video).

But yes, its hard to make an apples to apples comparison when one timer is faster than the other.
