  • Update: I replaced the 7805 and it works just fine! Yay!

I played Snail Maze for two straight hours!

  • My 7805 in my SMS1 doesn't look visibly damaged. Is the damage always visible?

  • Well, mine wasn't visibly damaged but when I tested it with a multimeter it wasn't putting out 5v. If yours is giving out 5v, then it may be one of your diodes that is damaged instead. You can re-wire it to it bypasses them, but I've lost the diagrams for that procedure in a format from months ago :/

  • @SonicthePlumber Sorry I replied, but I pressed the wrong Reply button like a noob >.< My response is on this page.

  • @nukpanatech No problem. I'm going to replace the 7805 and at least two capacitors. I don't know if that's the problem for sure, but it certainly can't hurt! I'll let you know if that fixed it if you're interested. I have 2 SMS1s with similar issues.

  • Cheers for the video mate. I will be opening my Sega up in a few days to attempt this fix. :D

Cant wait to play Alex the kid again!

  • @Adgum1 No problem :P I hope it works and if you need the wiring diagrams - I'll get my thumb out and get them annotated and posted. I've just moved so everythings been on hold. Also - you're lucky! I can't find an SMS2 with Alex the Kidd on these days, it's always sonic >.<
