  • ...one of the greatest ever!

  • BOA = redneck rock. No one but a dumb redneck would like this shit!

  • @gatortailor

don't listen to it then... duh!

  • @bravenewworldorder89 Yeah, well I had to see if they were any good 'cause I remember them from the mid-70s and wondered why no one (except a dumb redneck) listens to them anymore. And now I know why.

  • @gatortailor Then why did you click on this? Is that what you do all day? Sitting on your computer, on youtube, clicking on songs by bands you hate and then creating negative comments thinking that anyone cares about your opinion? According to the like bar, 93% of those who rated this video liked it. So you think your comment make 93% of the 103,574 people stand back and think "Hmmm...maybe this music does suck, just because that jackoff said so"? Bullshit. Keep your dumbass opinons to yourself.

  • @shawnkrause871 whatever dude. the truth hurts I guess.

  • @gatortailor Like I said, keep your dumbass opinions to yourself.

  • Everybody always says David Lee Roth. I say Jesse James Dupree.BOA is the original Jackyl

  • OutKast - Hey Ya

  • @alvaritooooooooo Yes, that would be the correct answer if the question was "Can anyone name a song that really sucks?"

  • opening for sabbath??

  • i own 1 square inch of land . tanks to the 1st live album .thanks jim!

  • @lufftosail I think if you read the deed what it does is give you the right to stand anywhere on the property.

  • Great song but makes my dog fart when I play it.

  • I started listening to BOA in 1972 when my friend's brother gave her If An Angel Came to See You Would You Make Her Feel At Home? I've loved JD ever since. Met him in 1997. I don't think he was the Jim Dandy I loved from way back then. Oh well, Rickie Lee Reynolds is cool. Still love the old music.

  • B.O.A. !

  • I love BOA and Jim Dandy, but the man cannot sing for shit. He was a great front man though. The band was smoking though, great players all around.

  • I've never been able to reconcile Jim's voice with his image. He's this young proto-DLR performer, yet he sounds like a snaggletooth 56 year old.

  • tnx for all you people for loving this. 90000 uploads can't be wrong!

  • i'm 16 and i'm from Colombia, and this is the best music ever, Jim Dandy is the man.

  • kids do not understand true music .If more would listen to what some of were priviledged to grow up with they would see why this will never die.

old rockers may fade away but the music will live on because it is just that damn good

  • He walks like he owned the damn building....you got to love balls like that!

  • Damn right - BOA rocked my socks clean off....maybe a couple other items too!!

  • Guay music,Guay style...Bull-sheet music

  • First time I've seen this clip in 37 years - it was on the UK's Old Grey Whistle Test at the time. I always remembered the tune, and the sheer swagger of Jim Dandy.

  • @AK2927 Same as you my friend! tried to buy the album on the stregth of this song and performance! however as you can imagine in those days not a chance! nice memory though

  • I worked several shows with Jim Dandy in the early 80s. One of the nicest guys off stage I've ever been around.

  • I was laughing even before he started singing. Watch how he was walking to the microphone! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That motherfucker is crazy as shit. Great music. I would choose this over the new crap anyday...and I'm 17. Most other 17 year olds like Lil' Wayne and crappy shit like that

  • As Jim Dickinson said: "I have produced rock and roll bands for 40 years, and my work with Knowbody Else remains among the most creative experiences of my life... ...Jim Dandy could dance like James Brown on steroids and hit the double splits off the drum-riser with his arms shooting flames from asbestos bandages soaked in lighter fluid and kerosene and sing like a soul trapped in hell.

    What can you do?"

  • Jim Dandy was one of the original hell raisers....

  • so sorry hunkola, other than jimi h. joe satriani and steve vai r the the greatest guitar players around joe satriani is the best one alive, unless andre segovia is still alive, if he is, he is the best

  • Ronnie james Dio, Dave Lee Roth, David Coverdale, Ian Gillan, Lou Gramm they were better singers than this one.

  • Hail Hail Lord Priapus!

  • Roth is a MUCH better singer, but yes...he did model himself after Mangrum.

  • Jim Dandy's skintight trousers are *very* Spinal Tap.

  • I have been an VH fan since 1980, now, not so much. I read everything I could on them and only recently read somebody writing that Roth ripped off Jim Dandy. NO SHIT. I could not believe I never heard that and it isn't even a joke, Roth is a screaming XEROX copy; no wonder he loves doing friggin cover tunes

  • the band started in 65' with james (jim dandy) mangrum, ricky reynolds on 12 string, stanley knight on steel and lead guitars, pat daugherty on bass, harvey jett on lead guitar banjo and piano and wayne evans on drums! since then there have been over 40 members that have come and gone and have come back again!when i saw them they had 2 drummers on stage 2 leads 12 string and rythme guitar

  • David Lee Roth learned his stuff from this guy. Jim Dandy was the original - love this guy!!

  • @TheKellb08 -- David Lee Roth came up with his own stuff, dumbo......

  • @Hunkola YEAH RIGHT! *California Girls*, "Pretty Woman", "Dancing In The Streets", & "You Really Got Me" at the top of my head.

David Lee Copied Jim Dandy's style Long blond hair, and his wild stallion attitude

David Lee is a copy cat if I had ever seen one.

Now please sit down ... I am tyring to listen to BOA

  • @BOBCATBIKERBABE --- Dandy couldnt perform flying spin kicks like Roth......and Roth was way funnier onstage and with interviews.......and Roth had a much better voice and cooler lyrical style than Jim........Dandy even admitted that Dave was doing his own thing and he admired him

  • @Hunkola LOL But Jim Mangrum did not have to do the flying kicks that David Copy Cat Roth had done... Jim had a better voice & didnt have to do impressive tricks to keep the audience's intrest. Mr Mangrum is the original

  • @BOBCATBIKERBABE --- LOL, yeah I'm sure Dandy had the better voice......does that explain why Roth-era Van Halen had six consecutive multi-platinum albums and sold-out world tours with Dave? Roth-era VH could wipe their asses with BOA. Besides, Dave's jokes and flying kicks arent tricks --- it's called showmanship, dumbo!

  • @Hunkola &\ I will tell you why Van Halen went Platinum is because they were a girly rock Dont get me wrong they had some good songs but the only reason they made it as big as they did wa because of the fact they were easy on the eye. Teenyboppers fell in lust like they did with the Beatles. David Lee sang I'm just a Gigalo & that IMPO is that. Having to resort to name-calling is really showing your brilliance of true music; in which in your case is nada. Now go away child you bore me.

  • @BOBCATBIKERBABE --- Girly rock band? You must be thinking of Bon Jovi or some shit. Roth-era Halen was heavy stuff. Sure, there were a lot of girls who lusted after Dave's physique and he nailed a lot of groupies in the 80's, but overall VH was a band that appealed to teen boys who liked to drink beer and bang chicks. Dont forget that Eddie was the greatest guitarist on the planet. Yet you still think VH only made it because they appealed to girls? You're retarded as they come, dumbo...

  • @Hunkola Thank You for prooving my point Girls lusted after him Boys knew that so they took the girls to the concerts in hopes they got laid Now I promis you I will not tolorate being called names & You are at the leval of pushing the wrong button.

Do you talk to your mother in such a manner? I really think she washed your mouth out with soap so much it effected your taste buds; or are you a coward whom hides behind your computer? Grow up

  • @TheKellb08 - ( J.D. )--was freekin awsome -saw him live a few times when i was a young hippie child in my teens- life was good we were young! peace -love- & ROCKIN-FUCKIN-ROLL BABBY!-- those days are gone but what a SWEET RIDE IT WAS! --BOA ! kids today dont realize why music today is what it is-and WHO laid the foundation.

  • @TheKellb08 that voice though... eeeeks

  • been trying to find moonshine sonata by boa. to no avail.

  • Nice moves at the whole song!!!

  • david lee roth must have had youtube

  • nice moves at 3:50

  • Hey Ya'll! Come and watch the video!

  • Oh yes......a girl knew what she was getting from Ole Jim Dandy........he sang about it in the songs.......plus his pants were so tight she knew the exact size that was cumming her way LOL.

  • I first saw BOA at the first California Jam. Before that show I was kind of on the fence about them...sort of "meh".

They fucking rocked. And i became a fan.

  • I like the way Jim Dandy let his musicians have the stage and do their thing while he pranced around. He is one cool dude.

  • I first saw and heard Jim Dandy and BOA at the Peachtree Festival at Rockingham speedway NC. It was dead until they took the stage. Caught them again in Knoxville a year or two later.

  • My girlfriend likes to look at Jim's pee pee. Mine too! Don't bother me, these guys could rock like no others.

  • Theres nothing wrong with showing some penis.Guys see chicks cleavage etc all the time.I say,MORE PENIS.......Whatever happened to the days when guys wore tight pants, jeans?A girl could see what she was in for....haha.Those were the days............

  • My dad is AMAZING!!! xoxo Happy birthday dad!

  • Yeah he is- met him on my 15th birthday (no worries). I have seen them 5 times, every chance I got.

    Happy Birthday!

  • jim is a great dude.

  • Real ass prancy @ :32...I just gotta give him a rimjob.. I just gotta... :->

  • I just love Jim's bulge :)

  • Oooh, yeah, Jim's bulge doesn't leave much to the imagination! LOL

  • omg its where daveroth came from! race with the devil? runnin with the devil? wow!

  • @theebabyjane yep

  • London never seen anything like Jim Dandy! LOL

  • i agree w/donkey dong!! i like it and jim is damnn proud of it. his pants were always as tight as they could cum, and i'm sure he's never wore under wear in his life!! awsome. sebastian bach followed his footsteps in tight pants and no underwear, doing whatever you could to expose yourself through tight leather pants.

  • pretty detailed sock?!?! ha

  • Comment removed

  • @ GuitarRock92

Don't think there's any room down there for a sock! LOL

  • the first long-haired country boy

  • One of the BEST bands to purvey Southern Rock! And they are never mentioned. I like them better than The Allman Bros Band any day of the week.

  • Whats wrong with the singer's voice?

  • I was knocked out to find this video! I've been a Black oak fan since '72 or so, and I haven't heard this song in years.

  • I want to suck Jim's donkey dong and I'm a man :O

  • @luscious9lips Yikes!! Now I'm REALLY creeped out!!

  • i would just like to try and slide those pants down over that dong? bet it would be tough getting them off?? but fun

  • @ lowcutleather

YEAH, it would! His pants were sprayed on.

  • This is my first time watching BOA and I gotta say I agree Roth ripped this guy off.

I also feel kind of creeped out watching him, and almost a little dirty (Shudder...)

    Backdoor man indeed.

  • I have a sneaking suspicion that Michael PS Hayes was a Jim Dandy fan as well.. Just a thought

  • no doubt! i never thought about that but you are right on. i grew up in chattanooga, tn and remember on the local wrestling tv production he and terry gordy (pre-freebirds) tried to call themselves the hollywood blondes. funny when you consider gordy was from chattanooga (which is even now one of those cities that feel like a small town)and hayes was from dalton, ga. i guess they figured the good ole southern boy route was a better gimmick, they were right of course.

  • i dont know what it is about this band but I fucking love them! Saw them live in the mid 80's they put on a hell of a show. Jim Dandy is like a psychedilic redneck shaman. cool motherfucker

  • jim dandy was not david lee roth far from it david copy ed this man move for move

  • I saw them Tarrant Co Convention Center Texas 1970s. Awesome! Seems

    like yesterday.

  • David Lee Dandy!!!

  • i like it they're both very proud of there endowments in tight pants davit lee roth went a step further in assless leather chaps! that was one up on jim!!

  • Actually it's 1 bass guitar, 1 twelve string rythm guitar and 2 lead/harmony guitars. They did the three guitar attack even before Skynyrd. David Lee made his career on being a Jim Dandy copy, and BOA's drummer Tommy Aldridge played in the great OZZY line-up with randy Rhoads. Too bad there are ignorant people out there that just don't realize the greatness that is BOA.

  • Thanks for pointing out who REALLY invented the 3 axe attack. These guys were pioneers who deserved more recognition. BOA 4EVER!!!

  • @vristo for real

  • @vristo Agreed...... BOA was way underrated in its day. When Mangrum went for the novelty of "Jim Dandy", they burned bridges that could never be rebuilt and were left in the dust by the other Southern Rock bands of the 70s.

  • This is were daimond dave got all his move's from and image for real ... for any van halen fans out there ...

  • Wow! Dig this & this is the first i've herd of their sound, but have herd of BOA!

  • Those are some tight pants - wonder if they sprayed em with pam to get them on him? as a teen in the 70's id a been happy to help him get them off!

  • el ritmo lo lleva en la sangre

    como janis joplin.

    .

  • Man.... this is high energy !!!

  • Jimmy Henderson is the guitar player

  • Those are some sweet licks!

  • Who is the guy on the left playing lead guitar. I can not remember his name.

  • raunch n roll man...fukin raunch n roll !!

  • Outkast anyone?

  • Now we know how and were David Lee Roth got his image from.

  • I saw an interview with Jim Mangrum. He said in early 79's DLR asked him if he could film their show. Jim did it cause he was high, Dave did it cause he thought Jim was cool.

  • Ain't dat the truth.

  • Of course you just know the band members had enough drugs between them to put down a herd of wild buffalo! lol

  • Not too mention the audience. Saw in 1973 Evasnville IN. Awesome!

  • OMG, the audience woulda had enough drugs between to put down every breed of animal in Africa!

  • Yeah, you are probably right. And on at least one occasion, I am happy to say, I was one of the audience. I traded some beer for some acid (good trade and good acid) and we all lived happily thru the concert. Rock on!

  • I saw BOA a couple times back in the 70s, and I am sure I was screaming the loudest; looking back now it is funny to me how those guys always made sure their stuff was showing. haha, the 70's what a world!!!

  • Looks like they got their chores done so dad let them do the gig. I love the common man aspect of BOA.

  • I watched a movie on Netflix about VH and they compaired DLR to Jim Dandy. They interviewed Jim Dandy, old and dog ass ugly, but he said he didn't mind that DLR copied him, was cool with it. Also said that he was copieing someone else too.

  • Jim Dandy said that Chuck Berry did it first.

  • Jim Dandy perhaps the original David Lee Roth ???

  • Go jim dandy ,GO!

  • great moves, great band Jim Dandy!!

  • The Royal Albert Hall is the number 1 venue to host concerts in London. You can bet your paychecks that Black Oak Arkansas rocked the Hall that night. Party Time!!!

  • Been a BOA fan since the early days. They were original, exciting, and just a good time band. Just bunch of hillbilly hippies having a good time. Look how much fun they are having when they play live. One of the biggest live draws in their hayday.

  • And how LOUD they were. Everybody thought that the Who was the loudest. I wonder, EXPECIALLY when they had those 2 HUGE theater horns. These were about 4' square on front and 16' long, DEFINITELY the biggest speakers I ever saw on a stage! A friend of mine walked right in front of one during a show and his ears "locked" (went silent).

If I have permanent hearing loss, BOA gave me a good time losing it!

  • i would bet ol jim was much higher than any kite in history. looks like he is havin a blast. and who better for roth to steal from.

    sex personified..... effortlessly.

  • peacehonesty - Dave Lee Roth got his moves and his singing from Jim Dandy. I love both of them but let's not get confused about who came first!

  • dumbass

  • DLR said in an interview back in the late 70's that he used to sneak in at biker bars and watch BOA. And JD has said he remembers a young DLR coming to their shows. So Jim Dandy is the original.

  • What an idiot. Roth grew up watching Jim, where you think he learned his moves. Jim learned them by just being his self and having a good time.

  • When I saw the Heavy Metal Kids/Nutz tour put on by Sounds for 50p in 1975 they showed this on film at the gig! Well worth 50p!

  • Neil, you've got a good memory! I saw HMK on many occasions and recall seeing this film but never matched the two. Guess I was having such a good time I can't remember. However, I do recall see BOA at The Reading Festival.

  • This makes me want to die.

  • I'll help ya along. Call me at 501-335-5464. Ask for "Fred".

  • Oh, God. I just realized how much influence BOA had on my life. Not only did I worship them in the late 70's I still have the JD hair. Blonde, to the waist length. I got to hang out with Ruby Starr one night. In San Angelo, in a bar where she was playing with Grey Ghost. I gave her roadie a pic I had drawn of her, and he gave it to her. Got to hang and party with her. That was great. Sorry about the random, I am sick and taking cold meds. But that is true.

  • Do you agree with me that Ruby had the most "presence" of anyone?

  • That drummer is the double bass master!!!

  • Tommy Aldridge is great and what a resume. Black Oak, Ozzy, Pat Travers, Thin Lizzy...maybe others.

  • Comment removed

  • You can throw in Ted Nugent also. Saw him im Memphis with the Motor City Madman. Yeah Tommy is great. I love his style.

  • Tommy played with Ted ? I did not know that. I'll add that to my memory banks.

  • David Lee Roth's main influence was this singer. There's definatly a resemblance to their stage presence.

  • No Doubt. When I saw them (Van Halen), on their first tour in '78, Roth also paraded flashing the "V" peace sign,AKA a young Ozzy Osbourne.

  • This song is just cool. Compare to a vast majority of the weenie rockers out there...

Just checkout the lyrics. What more do you demand people?

  • After sampling BOA material, one can only assume their songwriters must have been the roadies??

  • i met the drummer

  • What I love about Black Oak is that there was never an "I'll kick your ass" redneck vibe to 'em. Simply a bunch back-to-the-land, naturalist, commune dwelling long haired freaks with no malice to any. Just a love of music, good weed and a lot of heavy duty balling!

Their old commune "Heaven", in Mtn. Home, Arkansas has been turned into a summer resort.... think I'll make a reservation for the "Dirty Daugherty Suite"!

  • I suppose you prefer Wayne Newton

  • I prefer Freddie Mercury

  • Hey ya'll that's what I'm talking about!! BOA rocks! Jim Dandy- oo la la!!

  • ya black oak arkansas is fucking bad ass.. incredible musicians..

  • I think OutKast ripped the boys off..Sounds like Hey ya! They owe ya Jim come up to Ottawa Ontario would love to see yaz been long time since in Canada

  • I agree with you. I remember first hearing this song in the fall of 2003, and a few days later I heard the song by Outkast, and I said "Wow! Outkast ripped off this song big time!" It's weird.....

  • I think you're right, OutKast bit this! It's the first time I heard this tune here on Youtube, as soon as the chorus came on it was evident. - Hey Ya! is a faster slight take on this chorus. That's funny.

  • What are you talking about... This has nothing to do with Hey Ya by Outkast. Another clown trying to steal more music... But what should I expect from you people.

  • that poor boy worked his toilet paper out of his jeans...

  • How long was Jim Mangrum preaching after BOA split up?

  • Tommy Aldridge has the greatest Afro in rock!!!

  • HEY YA'LL!Yea,i'm all for some nice dude crotch.Man,i miss the days when guys wore tight pants and you could tell if they were happy to see you or not.HA,HA!Long live BOA!!!Those were the days my friend,we thought they'ld never end!!!

  • black oak arkansas is the shit.

  • This band was the cat's meow.....

  • I saw Black Oak at the first California Jam. Drum wars were in full swing then. I also went to the second Cal Jam. Thats me on the album cover in the lower right corner without my shirt on looking toward the stage.

  • Two words...Crotch Watch.

I wish someone would bring crotches back to Rock.

  • I agree... Jim Dandy had the best one.

  • Hey! Cool! David Lee Roth's Dad!...Kidding: Jim Dandy is a Rock 'n Roll icon. Thanks for posting. Street...

  • I would hate to get a boner in those pants.

  • ummmmm....the name of this song is....hey ya'll....not hey ya.....just to let you know

  • thanks.

  • JD cracks me up. One of the best front men ever. No doubt DLR got his moves and wardrobe from JD. Is this the same Hey Ya, that Outkast did?

Thanks for posting the video. Love it.

  • It's funny that the so-called "new guys" are so damn ingenious that the best they can do is rip off a song from the early 70's. Outkast can slink away and rot in a pile of shit like they deserve.

  • Back in the day, DLR admitted in "Rolling Stone" magazine that he stole his stage act from Jim Dandy himself. If you don't believe me, research this fact in RSM!!

  • Why in the hell don't any of these videos on YouTube show the vocal "intro" by Jim Dandy??!! Come on, You 'all - you're missin' rock & roll history here!!!!!

  • whos that blonde lead guitar player?

  • why waste your time posting negative.

you just had to've been there.

  • I laugh I laugh, that is so true and if you were there then it still tickles your'e balls
