They should make an xmen game that has free roam,you can choose with mutant to be, all the mutants have special side missions aside from the main storyline, and a fully built Xavier institute with tunnels and a danger room and shit! And you can run into other mutants and have fights in the streets and stuff! Kinda like xmen plus prototype plus GTA. If anyone reading this knows a game developer please pass the idea.

People shouldn't expect a they things THEY want from the first game,thats what sequels are for. They take the suggestions u request and some are added to the game for more appeal. It's not as bad as ign says. Hopefully we get a sequel that appeals to a more variety of fans.
They should have at LEAST try to go all City of Heroes/City of Villains with this. Let the person create their own 100% original character, choose their two power sets (for example pairing super strength with rapid healing, or fire manipulation with ice blasting) complete with color customization and how they pull off the move, and then put it through a world with 100 mutants from both sides giving cameos.

I just bought this game yesterday and I'm almost done with. Sadly, everything IGN has said is true about the game thus far. I'm returning it tomorrow, not today though. I'm going to finish the game tomorrow because I needed to play something else to rid myself of the disappointment. Woe is Silicon Knights for releasing such an unpolished game. At least Prototype lived up to some of its hype, unlike X-Mex Destiny.

@mahalaps3 That's completely different. No one in the Batman universe has superpowers, where as with the x men universe, everyone has different powers. If you someone different in Arkham city you'd be just an ordinary man, if you were someone different in the x-men universe, chances are, you'd be a mutant with different abilities than those who are the popular ones (Wolverine, Cyclops etc.)

You are completely right. I should saw this before I bought the game. The game itself is TRASH! It's shorter than anything!!! (no more than 3 hours of playing) Choices are POOR!! The choice interface is anoying!! The cinematics cant be skipped!!! The interaction with enviroment it is soooo limited!!! The powers aren't a big deal! And the history sucks! DON'T BUY THIS GAME!!!
Ironman would've been great if rocksteady were the developers behind it instead of it being based on the movie.....I mean just think about it roaming around in "stark tower" interacting with stark gadgets on some sick graphics

I think marvel is too laxed when it comes to their characters in other media, except for movies (minus the ones whose rights are in the hands of other corporations like FOX and Sony). The only games that marvel has going for it in both the graphics and gameplay depts that I can think of are the Spider-man games of Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time. Marvel could make a game for Cable and have the gameplay and graphics be like or very similar, and if possible, better than Gears of War 3. That game looks very hot and is probably rated in the top 5 with Batman Arkam City being number 1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was also a hot game. the graphics and gameplay were spot on
To Mr. Steven Hopper, that was an excellent review. I agree with you. From the time I saw this game I felt it would not be a good one. Still i felt your rating of a 5.5 was too kind. This is particularly why DC is beating out Marvel in the animation (TV) and game departments. DC U Online graphics may be a 5.5, but at least they give you hundreds of options in the character create lists to choose from. Marvel once again doesn't even give you the option of choosing a black character...
Though improvement is still highly needed in comics, concerning the inclusion of particularly African Americans/blacks in video games and having them in an active role in the comics (which does not include giving black characters the lamest powers) I can say that DC is more sensitive to the inclusion of blacks in their comics and games than marvel is. In XM Destiny you only get to choose between 3 people. It would ALSO be nice to be able to choose a black male and female character.
The gameplay looks similar to that of x-men legends for the playstation console. There does not seem to be anything different from those 2 games besides the year they were made in. Funny thing is I'm a marvel fan who prefers marvel over DC because of the personality traits of the characters. Nevertheless, when marvel fails in any dept as a result of what looks like willful negligence or an ignorance against the obvious they have to be called out on it. Gotta give DC its due. I agree. Bats reminds me somewhat of wolverine. I don't know any other character who they can make an Arkam City-like game for in Marvel other than Wolverine. Batman is so Marvel that I think if that character was to transition from DC to marvel it would be easy.

I really wanted to like this game. About halfway through it I was disappointed. You can't skip cutscenes or the dialogue with other characters once you start a conversation. I do disagree with it being a button masher...you can't rapidly tap the X button 4 times in a row then press Y and always expect the same move to come out. Graphics were kinda bad, voice acting was decent, can't really interact with the environment. Jumping on the ledges was stupid. It was ok the first time. 4.8/10
ok, to the people complaining about "let me play as an established X-men guy" its called "Destiny" as in make your own.. that being said i have yet to play the game myself (will in the next few days) and im sad that you dont get an epic fight with the side you dont decide at least from what i see here as that would make a decent ending, but over all it does not look that bad as for FPS issues you may want to clean out your system before playing helps alot because these new systems are just comps
Infamous and Infamous 2 are good examples of how superhero games should be done, and people who adapt well known superheroes need to look at games like that. Or just give it some thought before ripping a popular franchise for a quick buck.
If it drops in price, I might play this. I mean, it definatly doesn't look good, but if it was cheaper, maybe like a downloadable arcade title, I think I'd give it a go.
I actually like the whole "Create your own destiny/character" sort of thing, and with X-men, Let's be honest, it's endless possibilities of mutant of powers, so you would think that when you're in an X-men "Create your own.." type of game, you think "OMG THIS WILL BE FUN" but then, after what I saw....You will feel disappointed....

If it was up to me I would have Bioware. I would have made it more of Sand Box rpg type of game. I would allowed the player to actually create their own character. I would allowed them to also hold 5 powers. I would have also added online play and multilayer. I would have allowed every choice you make affects the game. First off, I wasnt too sure about this game, so I borrowed it from a freind to try it out and apparantly...its not good. The graphics are not beautiful but not ugly at the same time. Its just bland. The facial animations and cutscenes are laughable though. The sounds are decent while fighting but terrible in cutscenes. The gameplay is just a button masher brawler, its not fun at all. Overall, its a bland and not fun. 3.5/10

The only games that marvel has going for it in both the graphics and gameplay depts that I can think of are the Spider-man games of Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time. Marvel could make a game for Cable and have the gameplay and graphics be like or very similar, and if possible, better than Gears of War 3. That game looks very hot and is probably rated in the top 5 with Batman Arkam City being number 1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was also a hot game. the graphics and gameplay were spot on

To Mr. Steven Hopper, that was an excellent review. I agree with you. From the time I saw this game I felt it would not be a good one. Still i felt your rating of a 5.5 was too kind. This is particularly why DC is beating out Marvel in the animation (TV) and game departments. DC U Online graphics may be a 5.5, but at least they give you hundreds of options in the character create lists to choose from. Marvel once again doesn't even give you the option of choosing a black character...

Though improvement is still highly needed in comics, concerning the inclusion of particularly African Americans/blacks in video games and having them in an active role in the comics (which does not include giving black characters the lamest powers) I can say that DC is more sensitive to the inclusion of blacks in their comics and games than marvel is. In XM Destiny you only get to choose between 3 people. It would ALSO be nice to be able to choose a black male and female character.

The gameplay looks similar to that of x-men legends for the playstation console. There does not seem to be anything different from those 2 games besides the year they were made in. Funny thing is I'm a marvel fan who prefers marvel over DC because of the personality traits of the characters. Nevertheless, when marvel fails in any dept as a result of what looks like willful negligence or an ignorance against the obvious they have to be called out on it. Gotta give DC its due. Good work DC.

DC characters have always been to fantastical to me to me (meaning most of their characters seem too perfect. This is particularly why Batman liked buy both marvel and DC fans because out of all of DC's characters he is the one who seems to have real life issues with himself, such as being a recluse, choosing rather to sit and stare at the walls in the batcave than to be around people. Don't get me wrong I prefer Marvel but while Marvel beats out DC on the big screen, I admit that DC beats out Marvel in the animation(TV) and game departments. Believe me I am the first to tell you that Hulk is better and stronger than superman and that the only reason why they made supes win in their crossover was merely based on fan votes and therefore had nothing to do with either characters powers. The simple fact that supes has a weakness makes him lesser than the Hulk.

2. Marvel heroes have better movies (Iron Man, Thor, Blade, Hulk, etc...) the only good movie DC has is the Batman movies

I really wanted to like this game. About halfway through it I was disappointed. You can't skip cutscenes or the dialogue with other characters once you start a conversation. I do disagree with it being a button masher...you can't rapidly tap the X button 4 times in a row then press Y and always expect the same move to come out. Graphics were kinda bad, voice acting was decent, can't really interact with the environment. Jumping on the ledges was stupid. It was ok the first time. 4.8/10

ok, to the people complaining about "let me play as an established X-men guy" its called "Destiny" as in make your own.. that being said i have yet to play the game myself (will in the next few days) and im sad that you dont get an epic fight with the side you dont decide at least from what i see here as that would make a decent ending, but over all it does not look that bad as for FPS issues you may want to clean out your system before playing helps alot because these new systems are just comps

I actually like the whole "Create your own destiny/character" sort of thing, and with X-men, Let's be honest, it's endless possibilities of mutant of powers, so you would think that when you're in an X-men "Create your own.." type of game, you think "OMG THIS WILL BE FUN" but then, after what I saw....You will feel disappointed....

when i first saw this i admit i was a bit disappointed that you wouldn't get to play as an x-men but when i took the chance and played it, it was actually pretty fun. the abilities given are fun to play as well as having the x-genes which gives you similar powers to the original x-men and brotherhood. this game isnt supposed to be about just the x-men, its about you being a new mutant who is chosen to help them or the brotherhood. you play as a new mutants point of view. give it a chance people.

If it was up to me I would have Bioware. I would have made it more of Sand Box rpg type of game. I would allowed the player to actually create their own character. I would allowed them to also hold 5 powers. I would have also added online play and multilayer. I would have allowed every choice you make affects the game. I mean it's a ok game not very great but not very good.

I was going to wait for the price to drop on this one and then get it...but after discovering that out of twenty one characters only FOUR are female...I wouldn't take this game if someone gave it to me for free. How sexist is that? The biggest shocker of all is that Storm isn't even present in the game...Storm...I realize that a majority of the audience is male, but that doesn't mean that the amazing women of Marvel shouldn't have an equal presence in this. At least DC gives it's women a chance.

i rented this from redbox this morning and beat it in about 4 hours...after hour 1 you realise that every battle is the same. i didnt mind the story, i would have liked to create my own hero but that wad a no go. worst thing about it is that it has alot of bugs & is very glitchy...bottom line, i wouldnt spend more than the $2.14 i spent to rent it, nevermind buying to own

This is my review with MY opinions.
First off, I wasnt too sure about this game, so I borrowed it from a freind to try it out and apparantly...its not good. The graphics are not beautiful but not ugly at the same time. Its just bland. The facial animations and cutscenes are laughable though. The sounds are decent while fighting but terrible in cutscenes. The gameplay is just a button masher brawler, its not fun at all. Overall, its a bland and not fun. 3.5/10
