  • Try to overclock this device, runs smoothly at 900Mhz

  • Jahjahjah, N900 is awesome.

I think my N900 will arrives today. can't wait!

  • Best phone/computer ever right in your pocket, man i am so going to get one :D

  • Another major thing is the SNAPPY RESPONSE.

600 MHz CPU isn't the ultimate speed these days, but paired with Linux-based Naemo OS results in one of the swiftest responses around !

Flash capability rounds up an impressive performance spec.!

This is one interesting phone !

Now if they only had a better camera, and could even remotely be compared in the number of apps - then this would be 'a home run', easily.

  • It's Maemo! Not Naemo!

  • Yeah, and it looks like HE'S TYPING WITH ONLY HIS LEFT HAND...

    ?!?

What's the point then on a qwerty keyboard ?

    Sloppy review.

One of the main features of the N900 is the AWESOME SCREEN :

    mindboggling 800 X 480 ( ! )pxl resolution, and a *very* healthy 3,5 inch size.

Why not show off a short video clip ?

  • no it not ...

i'm using n97 with 3row keyboard and it is the same as your laptop keyboard ...

    JUST HAVE A LOOK

  • at&t lol.

  • Comment removed

  • That's wrong, the N900 comes unlocked. You can put it on any network you like.

  • how big is the screen in inches?

  • 3.5"

  • dude don't you know that it say's t-mobile not at&t

  • the pomegranate iz way better

  • Screen looks smooth.. Gotta get N900!

  • can it sync to multiple email on Exchange

  • Coming to the UK on 22nd October.

    I hv already pre-ordered mine with T-Mobile.

  • i dont think sweden will have it =P lucky u tho

  • why!!? sweden has nokia companies right? are there such thing as nokia phones being released to some countries only and not to others even if it has nokia company in the country?

  • i dont know.

asså el giganten går mig på neverna, dom ba "den kmr ut den 16 oktober" och nu vägrar dom svara på mina mail :S

  • even if you have a resistive screen the responsiveness can be very good if the software allows it to be. Everyone tries to avoid resistive screens now thanks to the N97

  • Well made resistive are just as good and responsive as capacitive screens.

  • Anyone know when it is coming/available in Australia?????

  • yeh i wannah no two !!!!!!

  • I was really impressed with this phone, but...

The more I research the Samsung HD i8910 the further away evey other phone gets, including this little beauty!

8mg camera, records in... Oh search it yourself :)

  • I know what you mean...

The HD i8910 is quite impressive, the ONLY thing i don't like about it is the messy interface.

But with the Omnia 2 on its way and the price tag on the HD, is it really worth it?

  • If You Want 8 Megapixels Then Get The N86. It's The Most Awesome Non-Touchscreen Phone Ever, If You Are In To Those Kind Of Phones.

  • hope it had d pad on left to play game wth !!!!

  • Dpad is stupid with a touch screen device.

  • true,.. but it wud be sad for us to see nokia n97 owners playing games like quake,..where as we cant :(

  • u dont need DPAD to play QUAKE lol. but Maemo 5 will be playing through EMULATOR which you can enable the key to what ever you like or may be even the on screen button :D

  • 500€ in europe

  • STUPED

  • On screen keyboard? or just QWERTY keyboard?

  • screen qwerty keyboard qwerty and simple screen keyboard

  • it's got both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey look this video /watch?v=tKr8tscoOKI&feature=related at 1:38

  • What about the color? is only black??

  • what is the battery life like??

  • does it has a virtual Keyboard on vertical mode? can u use the phone with 1 hand ?

  • You can use the PHONE with one hand. All the other applications and UI are just in Landscape mode.

  • I meant using the phone to TEXT messaging or reading it with just one hand. Just like Nokia N-Series. Not when you answering the phone call with one hand. I want this phone but duno how and when it coming out. Nokia doesn't have any real information about the release date.

  • It's out late this month or early October.

I Do hope you can write TXT messages in portrait mode, but officially the only thing you can do in portrait is phone.

Note that this is a Linux phone, so that means people will make it possible to use portrait mode all the time if you want.

  • Well. It is may be coming out next month but it is only in USA. I'm living in NZ and I have not seen this on NZ nokia at all. I would want to get this in ASIA though cos they always get it before NZ by 6month to 1year. It would be nice if Nokia included Multitouch hardware in the phone for future use. Just like what they did with the N95 accelerometer.

  • I live in Norway, and stores estimate that they will get them 1.October. Multitouch is very nice, but I'm sure that would make the phone more expensive.

  • You heard anything of when it coming out to ASIA or ASIA pacific? My brother is going to ASIA for a month next month. I'm hoping it comes out by then.

  • Seems like the first n900's are shipped in 2-3 weeks time (some european countries)

  • I got a guy confirmed that it won't be out until 1st November in UK. I think NOKIA delaying it because of the over hype up.

  • They pushed the date to address some issues with the the firmware.

  • yeah Hope it will be release in Asia before christmas this year.

  • Nokia USA is running a pre-order promotion where if you pre-order they give you a BH-703 bluetooth headset free [$90 USD]. I also saw an article where Nokia may release touch screen only version named the N920 over at the n900blog.

  • No, N920 is the new one ontop of the N900. The successor. N900 will be the first of its kind.

  • cant wait for an accurate review going over the keyboard in use, and the email programs, and overall usability.

  • its probably a preproduction model which explains the lag

  • It doesn't feel chunky when holding it, it feels nice actually. The only thing I miss on the hardware side, is a home button.. It would've been nice :) I guess the responce will be alot smoother in the final sale pack...

  • 1:59 android app tune wiki sweet!

  • does it have an fm transmitter?

  • Yes

  • Nokia's always supported Flash videos. But N900 will support real Flash 9 video instead of Flash Lite for Mobiles...

  • Comment removed

  • Adobe 9.4 Flash. =)

  • MMS?

  • Yes

  • thanks because all I saw was only a window for SMS, man I want this phone to replace my iPhone. I and I use to work for Apple!! You would be surprised by the people that don't like iPhones that work for Apple.

  • MMS and Radio (not internet radio)

    I still waiting :(

  • 2:41 - LEGS!!!!

  • The version you got your hands on seemed quite slow compared to the versions I've used. There must be quite a few fw versions out there.

  • Ah, sorry... I missed that while skimming. ;) Thanks for commenting back.

  • AT&T with 3G? Are you sure?

  • No, I'm not. We discussed that in the comments already. Either the Nokia guy described the two phones to me backwards (one was edge, the other 3G, one was AT&T, the other T-Mobile) or I got them confused myself. Either way, it was T-Mobile 3G.

  • Hardware seems pretty good but software seems to still need polishing....animations/transitions were kinda jerky. Also for the love of all things sacred STOP SHIPPING RESISTIVE TOUCHSCREENS IN 2009.

    Sheesh.

  • You can't use styluses with capacitive screens, a lot of people use these, plus they work better in the cold, so there's a good reason they're being used

  • wow gonna love this phone..

  • Great Job Man !!

    and A GREAT N900 :)

  • Thanks for your review! There's a couple of things tho.

@ about 1:03 you state that the phone is using AT&T's 3G, however to my understanding at the moment ALL N900's operate on the 1700/2100 3G spectrum, which is compatible with T-Mobile USA 3G. And the phone shows T-Mobile at the top.

Another note which isn't such an issues... I thought Nokia was not marketing this as a smartphone, but a internet tablet that has cellular call capabilities.

  • Quite possible, I thought the Nokia rep had said the one I had was AT&T with 3G and the other device there was EDGE only with T-Mobile. You are probably right. This was a rush job.

  • As to the smartphone name issue, Nokia also tries to market its S60 smartphones as "multimedia computers", but I'm not buying that either. You can market a VW Bug as a Mobile Personnel Transporter if you like, but I'm still going to call it a car.

  • Well, this device was named after the previous Nokia Internet Tablets which lacked the phone capabilities but were faithful to this label, being devices designed for mobile internet usage. I guess adding the GSM/3G is more of an upgrade from the previous versions than a build of a whole new concept. I wouldn´t call this one a cellphone more than I would do it to some netbook that comes with a sim-card slot, would you?

  • How many laptops/netbooks with SIM cards can place voice calls over a GSM or UMTS network? This device can. It's a phone....

  • @mobileburn sony ux models but those are expensiver.

  • But, then again, it might sound arrogant to the market that they thrive to create a whole new niche while they are still busy developing (at different success levels) smartphones/cellphones devices.

  • So... what are your first impressions on the device? Will there be an article on that?

  • I do not like the UI at all so far. Seems not only counter-intuitive, but mostly missing/invisible. It was frustrating to use. We'll see what I think after getting to spend some real time with it, though. This was a baptism by fire. I had a train to catch and no time to get acquainted with the phone.

  • I´ve been reading about this new Maemo version for quite some time and it sounded like a real bold concept. Since this is a new OS maybe it will take some time to tune up some of its capabilities... And there is the question wether the community will help build a solid software library for the device, which is really necessary for its success.

  • kind of sluggish

  • It isn't running production firmware.

  • O_O same like N97 but bigger

  • First! I love this Phone! Oh excuse me.. Device...
