Me and 2 other vocalists used to sing this in a band in the early '90's (Mixed Emotion). This tune always brought the house down. It's so different from standard fare, and such a good song!
@TommyHaegin I'm not mad Tommy, but please. Todd wrote all the songs for the three Nazz albums and only sang lead on the third, "you are my window". He willed himself to become a singer. He knows his every flaw. He has compiled an obra d'arte that has no comparison in pop music. He's not the best, I know many who don't like him. It's ok. I saw the Acapella tour, us fans know his genius.
@TommyHaegin the problem with this is they're singing it in the wrong key for their voices. They're a halfstep too high. That's why they keep going sharp.
me and this cat went to the same highschool "upper darby high"ofcourse i went there 30 years later but still lol, philly motherfucker.........man im dumb, sorry everyone
Can't find a live "Blue Orpheus". One of my favorite Todd songs that I wish he'd apply the whole gammit of instruments to. I can't turn the song up loud enough!! Love it!! Axeman
Great Video! Please post some Acapella videos. My wife and I want to Mary Lou and Michelle singing. We have a Todd show in 4 days in Columbus OH. Getting pumped up for it, we missed The New Cars shows... but we did see Todd at the airport in Cleveland at 7:30am the day after Cincodemayo last year! Talked and took a picture!
Rundgrenfan, what I like about Todd here is that he is so serious, earnest, and sincere in his performance. But then at the end he shows that boyish charm which enables his audience to feel connected to him.
If todd is god, rundgrenfan is at least a saint. thank you. I was lucky to see this tour. Typical of the critics they said it was indulgent and gimickry. So todd just went out on tour with 11 singers in a semi circle, and rocked with brilliant melody, harmony, swing, and soul. He's in a seperate category. We're lucky he used his genius and inspiration to make pop music.
rundgrenfan. Open the vault Dude, what else have you got? You know how important these are to all of us, these are priceless. Thank you, wish we all could go back.
I miss my father who committed suicide in 2009 He sang this song and loved singing it to me before I went to bed

Probably the most underrated songwriter in commercial music's history. This lyric has always slain me.
