I realize this was in '08 but it's still nothing I would have considered extreme. Liquid cooling doesn't make it extreme. top-end components and some major overclocking make it extreme. Neither of which I see here.

@TheBTraiin Yes, and guess what, there is a reason why the fan is there, so I object to your fail claim. As you can see, it's not mounted directly to the cpu-heatplate, but with a lot of space in between. The reason for this is so that the fan can cool some minor components around the CPU, too. So it's actually an epic win sir!

@Kernle32DLL there is no real epic fail in this build. but i dont see the necessity of water cooling it. Do you overclock much?

also, consider switching to a black light and adding the ink from a blue highlighter to your water. then you will have more glow and less shadows (as the tubing basically covers the entire motherboard.) I did this once and it looked beautiful. Now I am more into the passive cooling, but thats just me ^_^

Umm dumb question here, but did you buy the water cooling stuff separately from the case? or is it included with the Gigabye 3D Mercury Black?

@frostraven23 Yes, and no. Alle the essential parts are there, like the pump, etc... I only had to buy tubes for connecting the graphics card. Everything else is included (and built in!) in the mercury case :)

water cooling looks awesome and all but you dont really need it since even with my 6 core amd 1055t the max Ive ever gotten with it was 32 degrees Celsius on a 40 degree day. and no my house isnt air condidtioned

@Camster3 ya but those cpus got hotter than any cpu does today as time passes they get smaller (Because the size of the cpus get smaller the heat that they give off is much less, because the longer the power has to flow the more heat is created thank tol resistance), and finally speed increasres. you must not load your cpu all the way because i have the 1090t black wich is a faster and it gets to 50c when at max load.

@HaveSomeQuark You are right, but there are two things you don't know. The 2900XTX was one of the best cards on the market back then. However, it was soon taken from the market in favor of the 3xxx series. Also, the 2900 has a hardware bug concerning antialiasing. About the ram, I forgot to mention that I inserted 2 more ram's (exactly the same that were already build in), so I have 4 gigs right now. This was done shortly before I switched from XP 32Bit to Win7 64Bit.

I Actually use a G15 as a Keyboard, and a Hanns G 19' monitor (upgrading to a 23' Widescreen as soon as I have my new graphics card).

You don't have a video card yet? If you want the BEST gaming expirience you can get, I recommend a Sapphire Radeon HD 5970. It's the best out there. Pretty pricy though.

That test was done on OLD AMD Althon (non duel core) vs a Pentium 4 (if I'm not mistaken). At the time, it wasn't Althon Vs P4, it was Athlon x2 vs P4.

Besides, taking your fan off is just pure stupidity. Only an stupid intel user wanting to show how intel is better, does this.

I would recommend to get the same memory to keep costs low and compatibility and get another 2GB to keep up with what everybody uses as a minimum, for the graphics card depending on your budget

Low - Radeon HD 5670

Mid - Radeon HD 5750 or 5770

Mid High - Radeon HD 5850

Very High - Radeon HD 5970

I am only choosing ati sience you already have one, just to keep things easier.
