This is one of the best of the "Hallmark" production epics- well produced(pretty much faithful to Homer's classical work) and great casting- who other than the 1950's greek actress Irene Papas could play Odysseus's mother? Isabella Rossellini is beautiful as the "grey-eyed" goddess Athena.

i got to watch this movie in 6th grade it is awesome so far we like just past the cyclops part. Its the first graphic movie i have ever seen in school we didn't need a permission slip for. Its probably the best movie i have seen in school. we usually have to watch like snowball or high school musical it sucks but now in 6th grade we get to watch a lot of new thing. all the girls were being pussys while i was actually interested in the cyclops part. who is better odysseus or achilles?

Why didn't they make troy like this one!!! Why change a lot of things from the book (the iliad) to make a shitty movie like troy? look at this one, there isn't many changes, no mayor changes from the book (the odyssey) and its great!! I love Odysseus (no homo) and if this man had really existed i would give anything to go back in time and meet him.

he did exist the only thing people disbelieve in homers books is the use of religion, but the names of places and people are historically accurate. And the other reason is the Odyssey was written hundreds of years after it happened so some was either made up or changed after all that time

Oh shist! I never knew this movie was based on The Odyssey and the Iliad. We're doing a unit thing or whatever on this in Literature. So I wanted to find the movie I watched when I was younger (like 5 or something) and I just typed something random in and it just appeared. Anyways, I'm going to enjoy watching this again, hopefully in class so everyone else can see it too! Oh btw I'm in 9th grade.

This is the Best Odyssey movie ever made - great visual effects, brilliant acting, brilliant everything! Armand Assante was perfect as Odysseus.

Greta Scacchi (penelope), Isabella Rossellini (Athena), Eric Roberts (Eurymachus), Bernadette Peters (Circe), Vanessa Williams (Calypso), Irene Papas (Anticleia) were no less impressive.

It's greek myth inspired and all but it's nothing like Troy especially when it comes to Achilles's character and the order of events..

In Troy, Achilles died DURING the siege of troy when he tried to save Brisies, but in this movie Achilles dies BEFORE the siege.. By the way the Troy with Brad Pitt in it was wonderful but it does not coincide with the greek myth very much esp. when it comes to Paris's story..

Try watching Helen of Troy, it's more accurate.. ^ _ ^
