  • this game wasnt only a game.. this game was an experience for life!!..

    no shit..

i level up for about 45 levels..

    and i finally made it..

i got the "i dont fucking care about what you think" materia

  • Hoho you're a tool. This game is awesome. Only a douche bag would say something like that about the best game ever. You secretly love it because you took the time to watch the video, homo

  • Wow!

  • I've heard there were ads of this game years ago in 1997 or 1996 in comic books... anyone know which comic books had the ads? Only Marvel and DC had those ads by the way...

  • wait....if u fail it automatically resets to the main menu o.0

  • I remember when this came out and I was already an RPG fan and a fan of Square's previous games. And based on this commercial, I thought that all the graphics were FMV-quality, and that it wasn't an RPG, but a guy riding around on a motor-cycle. I still got it and, damn I love it.

  • This game made me who I am today.

Thumbs up if you know what I mean.

  • I bought this game way back in 97 because some kid had it in school who said it was hard and I coundn't beat it. In a few weeks he was asking me where he had to go. Game was great then and now.

  • @MrLeGardien

I beg to differ. Some of my best memories were on my n64. It got me into gaming, which got me into finding other consoles to play on, which got me into rpgs, which made me go searcg through the mountain of technology that is our basement, which led me to this gem. :D

  • @TheInbornMechanics

I am, but after searching through some random old technologymy parents had lying around, I found this gem (in a sleeve with tomb raider the last revelation and random deom discs, nonetheless). Thus I am known as insanonaga, the techsure hunter.

  • I think its funny how what took them millions of dollars and 2 years to make in the late 90's would take us $1000 at the most and maybe 3 months to make now. However wat was more important was the story, and they tottally nailed it! And made room for other rpg's to flourish.

  • When this commercial came out it was the beginning of the end for Sega Saturn and N64.

  • So...why is Meteor the thing sucking the life out of the planet again? I love misleading commercials. Thanks for reminding me of this, TV Tropes.

  • YOU CAN ALWAYS HIT THE RESET BUTTON HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • 21 people were owned by "pale horse"

  • Not the greatest game ever but still a GOOD game. The characters were dull but the story was epic. Game in general was easy but the cinematics were touchy and cool. plus, bad graphics to me means that they worked on the story more so yeah!

    Story/Plot: 9/10

    Characters: 6/10

    Gameplay: 8/10

    Difficulty: 7/10

    Graphics: Who cares? :D

  • "You can always hit the reset button"

    Classic XD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why game always seems better in commercials than in real gameplay O.O

  • @vilperi27

I'm pretty sure the game kicked ass and that commercial was fucking hilarious.

  • @Mythologick lol... i didn't like ff 7 so much :/ im feeling myself an outcast beacouse of that :D

  • @vilperi27 I thought FF7 was OK, my second play through on the game made me like the overall lifestream concept of the storyline a lot more, because it borrows concepts from paganism and other earth centered religions.

  • I remember seeing this as a kid and being blown away by it not just being a video game, but something much more. Then when I played it, my young mind exploded.

  • O M F G, I remember this. I remember this like it was yesterday.

  • whatever team put this commercial together certainly earned their paycheck - this was the only reason i got a playstation in 97, this commercial. i was not disappointed

  • Oh man, I want to cry. Memories of a lifetime. I remember watching this tv spot when I was 13 during wwf raw is war. It was the best videogames commercial ever. Nintendo 64 was sucking at the time and playstation was the shit.

Life will never be the same.

  • @KaidaStrife So resetti wants you to fail?

  • One of the greatest games EVER!!!!!!!

  • Why do they call it Ovaltine? The jar is round, the cup is round! They should call it Roundtine!

  • i would say 10 was the beginning of the downturn, purely because of a few simple reasons, staff members were dropping like flies, the amalgamation with "enix", the voice acting dialogue kills more of the imaginative playing, and the obsession with better graphics and extended cutscenes ruins the game. when your heart is into making a story then your quids in, when your heart is aimed at visuals and cutscenes then you've failed miserably at making a good RPG.

  • RESET BUTTON

    will always save your ass^^

  • Why is it called final fantasy if they keep making new ones. its never final

  • @kingdaniel41995

Its the final epic adventure for the characters in the game isnt it?

  • nice not showing any gameplay

  • still the greatest game in the world! this beats all other final fantasy games down! although 10 didn't go nearly as far as the others.

  • Hahaha "If he fail you can always hit the reset button." I wish that applies to everything in life lol.

  • what ff7 is more than that muuuuch more

  • Can I hit the reset button on life please!?

  • Bet Nintendo wishes they hit the reset button before they made the decision not to go with CD-ROMs for the Nintendo 64!

  • That's true. this is the game that brought RPGS mainstream attention.

  • Every game beyond FFVII has failed to top it. In 20 years when everyone on this message board is old, Final Fantasy 30 something will come out and it will still fall on its face when compared to 7

  • First time I saw this I had the same thought my mom did...."This is gonna be one bad ass movie!"

  • 18 people had to hit the reset button.

  • @thettruest More like 18 people are pissed they never got to hit the reset button on their N64.

  • @JTcombomode hahaha exactly, thats perfect.

  • @thettruest 19 now

  • Comment removed

  • I shat myself when I first saw this.

  • I remember watching this and it insane how much their still is a fan base for FF7.

  • @Harlock4mg

It's believable, though. Final Fantasy VII is one of the titles that sold the system. It came out when I was about 10 or 11, and this was the most revolutionary game of its time. I also have the respect for it because it was my first PSX title, and I was able to get it the day that it came out. It's a black label, still in near-mint condition and is worth a lot of money.

Not only that, but not a lot of RPGs, before or since, had the balls that FFVII had.

  • that is my new motto

if you fail yoou can hit reset

  • LoL... Hit the reset button if you fail... LoL...

  • That is one damn terrific tagline.

  • God DAM this game is epic

  • i remember reading that there where a number of incidents where people saw the commercial, bought the game, and then returned it because they thought it was supposed to be an action game.

  • Where the fuck happened to all of the EPIC (and cheap) COMMERCIALS?!!

  • Hello 4th grade...fucking hell.

  • no question, the best game i have ever experienced.... then oblivion

  • What's the name of the song who starts at 0:07 ?

  • Hellloooooo 7th grade!

  • ahh i remember playing ffVII when i was only um...5 Lol too bad i didn't understand it back then T_T until i played it on my ps3 AND NOW ITS MY FAV GAME Yay XD

  • I remember watching this commercial when I was about 13 years old and immediately buying a PSI and FFVII the day it came out.

  • the original is far better than the remake

  • @gilligan320 there hasn't been a remake. it's been rumored but that's all

  • I was so obsessed with this commercial and when it finally went off the air. I didn't get a chance to hear or see it till about a year ago!!! THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS!!

  • I remember seeing this on CartoonNetwork, good times.

  • I was 13 when i saw this commercial and it gave me goosbumbs all over my body, then i finally got the game and i played 14 hours straight of it everyday on my first playstation. which ended up overheating and me buying the new playstation that doesn't over heat. i spent i think over 130 hours playing this game when i was around 13 i'm now 25 and i debate playing it again. :)

  • @blasterman9 cool i sow this game when i was 4... xD and i first played this game when i was13 and beat it now im 14

  • You don't need to hit the reset button. Just press circle to get the Game Over screen outta the way.

  • @MasterShinigami09 OR you can always use the legendary R1+L1+R2+L2+Start+Select

  • @BTVagrant

the soft reset feature which needs a proper return

  • always hit the reset button.... genius

  • 0:23 That Screaming Demon Thing In The Capsule Is Fucking Creepy.

  • There is not Evil Empire in ff7!!!! Is a democracy but controlled by a multinational corporation.... =0 I see i see, they have to say "evil empire" in TV, it makes sense now =0

  • This is the commercial that made want this game. Didn't know what the game was about, didn't care. All I knew was I WANTED THAT GAME! Now I'm glad I did. To think now it's in my PSP and I can play where I want when I want. The future kicks ass.

  • @armygwarguy I Know Right, Sony Really Out Did Themself With The PSP.Who Would Ever Think They Would Have Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 123 And FFV7 Plus Many More PS1 Classics While On The Shit Bowl lol

  • @fordmike Haha hell yeah. My PSP is the new book in my bathroom.

  • @armygwarguy It kinda gets my dad worried...I wont be out of the bathroom until i reach a save point in the game which takes a little longer then normal time in the bathroom...and with him not knowing about the psp, i always hear my dad shout "if you dont take a break my son its gonna fall off " cracks me up everytime lol

  • @fordmike Haha lucky you. My family know's what I'm doing in the bathroom. either it's a comic or my PSP. Your dad is the shit.

  • Best. Game. Commercial. Ever.

  • Damn, my PSOne doesn't even have a reset button :D

  • 'you can always hit the reset button'

    My god, lol.

  • The reset button?

imagine that WITHOUT A MEMORY CARD

  • thank goodness for that RESET button!!

  • Man, this takes me back. It's been well over 10 years since I last saw this and I remember it perfectly. THIS was back when Square knew how to market games.

  • We need reset buttons back

  • HA wow i loved that ^^ it made me laugh. I'm happy now

  • hahahahahaa this just made my day :D

  • haha!

    these commercials are so hilarious!

why they don't make it anymore is beyond me! xD

  • Never would I have thought that the words 'reset button' would be said in such an epic voice.

  • This was the commercial that first showed me FF. I was completely floored. I was 10 years old but I still remember it pretty clearly. I think I saw it during NBA on TNT or something.

  • Wow in that it did not even look like an rpg.

  • LMAO.

  • This was the best promo of the game

  • You can always hit the reset button!

    Aweome! 5/5

  • lol u dont have to walk all the way to the playstation to reset it just press L1+R1+L2+R2+Select+Start have i got that right?

  • That's true. I thought about that too.

  • "If you fail, you can always hit the reset button" lolz the narrator is being a smartass XD

  • if he fails u can always hit the reset button i lmao so much on that one hes tryin ta make it seem all epic n dramatic lol

  • rofl worst ad ever

  • wooooow total flasahbacks here

  • Cool gameplay footage there, Square

  • Wtf that was sooo bad lol... I can't tell if he was serious when he said 'you can always press the reset button" XD or he is joking

  • lmao!!! if you fail you can always hit the reset button!! lmao!!! dude thats great!

  • ¿Anyone know the name of the music?

  • Lawl o_o if u fail u can always hit the reset button.

  • this should be a fail commercial xD

  • these final fantasy commercials are the best. like the FFVIII commercial; "he will need curage and strength to save the woman he loves. YOU on the other hand will need a playstation and lots and LOTS of free time.

  • lol you can hit the reset button. thats a line to remember

  • haha "you can always press the reset button" ha classic!

  • LOL. awesome commerical. i wonder how many people got roped into buying the game even though the ad had absolutely no gameplay footage.

  • lol haha

  • to me this game coming out was like wen nevermind came out, god do i miss the 90s

  • wow you can always hit the reset button ¬¬

    that sounds "tough"

  • lol funny commercial O_o

  • wow they used to advertise things differently back then " you can always hit the reset button" lol

  • 0:22 WTF WAS THAT?!?

  • nice commercial

  • woooooow *___* never seen ff7 commercial! here in italy, in 1997, they didn't know what ff was... :(

  • In all fairness, this was the breakthrough game for Japanese RPGs in America also. I remember the day it came out. I got my copy not knowing what it really was, but just knowing it was supposed to be a great game.

To this day, it is still the best video game I have ever played!

  • @theartfooldodger i with you there, still love the game.

  • vero >_>"

però poi quando l'ho scoperto, che figata di gioco XD

me lo sto rigiocando su PSP questi giorni ^^

  • thank you all dear friend.......FOR COMING TO MY BIRTHDAY!!!

  • oh my god this pub sucks... made me think of dragon ball evolution pub, don't know why...

  • Haha "Hit the reset button." That's how I always thought of it.

  • Gawd, they played this ad SO many times on tv I had memorized this one.

  • The background music in this commercial rocks XD

  • Used to beat the crap out of this game back in the day, along with Ocarina of Time, Starcraft and Metal Gear Solid. Good times, good times

  • Most epic line ever, I agree "and if he fails... you can allways hit the reset button." You know what really sucks ass? there was NEVER any PS1 commercials in sweden. i'm serious. not with the previous consols to. sweden... so neutral... so fragile... so penis shaped...

  • I like the line in the final fantasy tactics commercial better. " or you die!"

  • epic line indeed, i have never laughed so hard in my life.

  • Epic Win for your comment!

  • @apapalonglong

Sweden has the fastest internet speed in Europe xD

    Stupid fact their...but im jealous

  • @brendude95 you know what they say; if you look like a giant dick, your internet speed will rape the rest ಠ_ಠ

bah de weeeey... I just thpught of something else that would be cathegorized as awesome(like giant penis shaped countries). you ready? ಠ_ಠunicorns raping dragonsಠ_ಠ that is all.

  • @apapalonglong

    Lmao wtf xD?

  • @brendude95 it will happen.

    just

    you

    wait

  • @apapalonglong

I want to live in Penis Country!!!

  • @brendude95 we're open for at least another 4 years!

srsly, a rasist party came into the "riksdag" (don't know what the word is in english) but they haven't taken the politcal lead. we left that to another stupid party... it's kinda sad.´rasists ahould have their own cuntry be rasist over there. yes I know there's an "o" in country but when rasists get a country it's a cuntry.

    get it? cunt-ry?

  • @apapalonglong

    Hahaha! xD

  • @apapalonglong hahahahahahahahaha omg HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! xD you made my day xD

  • @Cloudnerd I'm happy the shape of the country I live in made your day. but really, if you think THAT'S funny, take a look at Finland.

  • anybody know the music used in this commercial?

  • i remember seeing this commercial and thinking what the hell is this, but then i rented it.....i been hooked ever since

  • I think that was the most epic line ever..

"If he succeeds you'll live - if he doesn't..... you can always hit the reset button!"

  • I remember buyin this with Resident Evil 2. Needless to say, RE2 had a lot of dust on it by tha time I got around to playin it :)

  • Haha I feel like what they show in this commercial is pretty far off from the actual game.

  • Soldier of Fortune? No, you're thinking about Snake.

  • This is such a cheesy 1990's commercial! I love it!

"If he succeeds you'll live - if he doesn't..... you can always hit the reset button!"

  • funny xD

  • memories~!! ^^

  • LOL! If you fail, you can always hit the reset button. Timeless

  • dude 4 the remake

they should totally do the same commercial

kinda mixing both new and this one a little bit

  • i love playstation sound they make wen they show the logo

  • Epic...Brings back memories.

  • The movie trailer-esque ad is always good for a game this epic

  • "An evil empire is sucking the life-force from the planet; destroying all that's in its path. Its up to one soldier of fortune to save the world --- if he succeeds you survive! If he fails...you...can always hit the reset button"

Epic! :D I remember seeing this on tv --- my pants exploded.

  • me too....i didn't get the game when it first came out, i rented it first at blockbuster a month before final fantasy viii came out and bought it when it was on the greatest hits. I almost beat this game but I died trying to beat Sephiroth on disc 3...still a great and challenging game.

  • This trialer is so epic especialy"If he fails you can always push the reset button" you don't hear that in trailers LOLI don't think I saw this one ever

  • I remenber this game whan I was in k-mart when i was little. It was 14.99 so i could buy it. Now im piss off :( no ff7 for me. I never play it so i wish sony or microsoft put it in the marketplace, because i dont trust amazon or ebay!

  • that game changed everything, epic!!!!

  • This game changed the way rpgs were made. When i first saw this commercial i literally jizzed in my pants.

  • that was funny "but if he fails you can always hit the reset botton" hahahahahaha

  • wow i remember seeing this... and thinking 'i... must... have...' but with little money and from a family of 'if you want it buy it with money you make' i didn't end up buying a consloe till about 2000 and i was gonna get the N64... but then i remember being at the store, and seeing FFVII Greatest Hits sitting there next to the PSX... and the choice was suddenly changed... and i never regretted my PSX choice or the many hours I spent on FFVII

  • sometimes you wonder what life would be like wihout ff.

  • sad... it would be horribly horribly sad

  • yeah

  • I'd play Dragon Quest.

  • i liked the reset button part lol

  • god i remember this ad.

  • family was poor in 97. didn't have tv. didn't have playstation. man, did i miss out...that is, until i got the rom around a couple months ago :o

  • aaw, poor baby :o(

i hate to hear that (more so about the fam being poor). hope everything is better now =^_^=

  • First time i saw the commercial i knew i had to get the playstation. Best game i ever played.
