  • Michael schrage's response to Michio kaku's thoughts on H1B is just a repeat of the first part of what he said, education in America is bad. Seems to me he just wanted to get in the last word.

  • Why is the US magnet, because America is the Rome of the 21st century...No nation will ever challenge the US the way Japan did in the 80s...My example China has a had a problem some years ago,China had high retardation rates of new born's....In China there is very little iodine in the soils....The Chinese government knew this and did nothing to fix this problem...The UN step in and started shipping massive shipments of Iodized salt,so pregnant would have far fewer baby's with retardation.. ;)

  • Michio for president ^^!

  • A rising number of doctors in the US are from foreign lands. Lower paying jobs are also going overseas thanks to tax cuts for outsourcing companies. The idea of capitalism has no idea what patriotism or nationalism means. History will find the death of the US came in a much shorter time than death came to the Roman Empire.

  • You people are so way off course. The reason we have the greatest school systems in the world is because our fore fathers wanted us to be able for every individual to read the bible. I know some people in this country that make more money in one day that a physist make in a month. They have maybe 11 grade education. Can't even pronounce fudge bar sound like fuudg bar. This guys are richer than hell. Because they know one law of physic (everyone need to eat everyday) When there hungry the don't

  • @robertus911 We do not have "the greatest school systems in the world." Far from it, we have one of the worst outside of the third world. Who are some of these wealthy people with 11th grade educations? Do they exist? It's "physicist," not "physist."

  • @yerk3 We do have the best school in the world here in the U.S. It just seem like everything in the U.S. is in chaos. The problem with are school system is that they just want to teach the majority of the student math and reading and writing because there going to be used for slave labour. The invention of machine reduced the need for slave labour but since oil is running out and machine use to much oil well slave labour is coming back. There to much coruption in our school system.

  • @robertus911 No we do not. That statement is demonstrably false. Japan, South Korea and most of Western Europe are ahead of us. Our system is under-funded and poorly run, the infrastructure is a disgrace, the process behind the creation of the textbooks is ridiculous, with non-teachers trying to shoehorn their political agendas and religious beliefs into the curriculum.

  • @robertus911 The problem is not that the school system wants to teach too much math and science, in fact, it's the exact opposite, they aren't teaching nearly enough math and science. When I was in high school, there were a bunch of German exchange students one year, and most of them said that going to school in America was like a vacation because all of the math was stuff they'd already learned years earlier. Japan is also years ahead of us in terms of science education.

  • @yerk3 Well maybe your right its been nearly 40 years sence I have been to high school. But you do know that we have a great Welfare system here in the U,S,. Now days just have some kids get on sec 8 and food stamps and the husband or wife work underneath the tabel on a side job they do pretty good and there teenage kids sell maijana. They can live like aristrocrats.I have seen people live 20 years and never had worked in there life and are doing better than people that work.the other day.

  • @robertus911 You know what more people are concerned about more than science . Is religion christianity, We live in a faith driven world today. Every time you get on a plane you put your faith and life in pilots hand. same with a bus driver. Me personal I believe science validates God sure its based on cercumstantual evidence.. Science brings you knowlege then you have to pray to god to give you understanding, I have knowlege that e=mc2 but i have no understaning of it I cant see what its doing.

  • @robertus911 Actually, we put out hands into someone who has thousands of hours of experience and training. We don't simply put our "faith" into a magical entity. In addition, in the western world (minus America), outspoken profession in belief is seen as a liability not a plus in terms of politics and life.

  • @robertus911 Even if more people believe archaic dogmas than in science, that doesn't make science any less true. Logic doesn't work that way. The only way that you can say that science proves god seems to be a lot of needless mental gymnastics.

  • @yerk3 Well I have a friend that just died. We were talking about the hard questions how the universe came into being, How can you prove god exist and the after life. Just before he died he told me that you have a better chance of taking out all the water in the ocean with a spoon than you could come up with true accurate anwser to those questions. The big question here is are scientest really just trying to take out all the water in the ocean with a spoon metophorically speaking. me Im going to

  • @robertus911 The burden of evidence lies on whoever is making the positive assertion. If it cannot be positively proven that God exists, the default position is that he doesn't. If there's no evidence to prove that something exists, there is no reason to believe in that thing.

  • @yerk3 There is evidence that God does exist. He cannot be known positively because you and I know that .that would be the end of free will. People would just pre occupy themselves in pleasing God. This universe is not a thing to keep God busy. In the Gospel Jesus say (My father works everyday). You want logical evidence live an un God like life and see the results then live a God like life and see the results. Evil things can be done in a controled lab. and then logic analyses can be assesed

  • @robertus911 What is this evidence? What is the point in believing positively in something that cannot be known positively? If God didn't intend for us to preoccupy ourselves with pleasing him, why do most religions strive to do just that? What would you define as an "un god like life?" I base my decisions on the possible outcomes, regardless of what a bronze age war god may have to say about it.

  • @yerk3 I think there is evidence that God does exist but it is just a theroy to me right now. What trully seperates man and animals is that man stores information and passes on to his children and grand children. Information is like Gold and it can be like fools Gold. Information has to be turned in to knowlege.A then knowlege has to be turned into understanding of knowlege. Then knowlege is the power of the the universe.I theroize that light is not just random waves. Some light may be informati

  • @robertus911 "A theory" is not evidence. Evidence is something that can be observed. You claimed that there is evidence for God, be specific, what is this evidence?

  • @yerk3 Well I just now figured out what with out a shadow of a doubt seperates man from any other creature on earth and makes him special. I believe that light from the sun is not just random waves that there are imformation in this waves like radio waves carry music information or video information..Your brain is no more than a hologram that reciece some of this information. This information is like rain on a pond there are wave going everywhere. Sun light wave is script in a movie

  • I sorry it just to complex to explain and im not that smart sorry.Right now Im studing the Egyption book of the dead.which is suppose to be the oldest storage of imformation ever. This clearly show that in that time you had to be educatedd to go to heaven or how else could read the instructions to go to heaven.

  • @robertus911 Our welfare system is a shambles. Sweden has a much more comprehensive system and a higher standard of living to go with it. People don't go on welfare because they like to, they do it because the alternative is starvation. Unemployment is high in this country, not because people aren't willing to work, but because the jobs just aren't there.

  • @yerk3 The problem with the U,S, is that people say they decent people and christian. But alot of them ,there actions are that of lazy good for nothing bums.

  • @robertus911 Sweeping generalizations are always easier than actually looking at the facts. Americans are no different from everyone else, there are lazy people and hard working people all over the world, and America is no exception.

  • @robertus911 People who couldn't afford to go to fancy colleges used to be able to find work in the agricultural or industrial sectors, but most of those jobs have either been rendered obsolete or shipped overseas to countries where it's legal to make people work for 12 hour shifts for barely enough money to survive. If you think people on section 8 live "like aristocrats," you have no idea how they or aristocrats live. What is maijana?

  • Michio is the man!! I totally agree with him on the fact that wee need to work on raising the bar on our education system in America instead of spending almost a trillion on the military! Military industrialized complex is sucking the life out of this country.

  • @epajrgolf I think that we can all agree that we need to work on raising the bar on our education system in the fact that we must create a culture in which our youth and society actually cares about education - particularly math and science - but the military has nothing to do with this issue and I don't think Michio mentioned the military. We are fighting a war on terror and trying to create security in a region in which madmen and fanatics want to wipe the human race off clean from existence

  • @TheSasss1 All I am saying is that in America we are cutting everything left and right. Yet the military spending of this country is more then that of all the other nations combined. We invest bravely in making weapons and yet we cut from the system that is supposed to develop the minds of our children. As for terrorists don't forget that America was shaking hands and helping to empower these fanatics in the first place. Butting its nose into issues that then cause more issues for itself.

  • @epajrgolf I know what you are saying but with out education, more than just throwing money at it, I think it is the culture of ignorance that has taken over our country. It's the culture in which instead of scientists being admired more - stupid celebrities and TV shows such as jersey shore become idolized. So, with education I feel strongly that throwing money at a broken system and culture won't fix the problems - a culture must change

  • @TheSasss1 You know what you are right. Thank you

  • @epajrgolf I apologize, I didn't see your other comments but I think we can agree that a big problem that faces America's future is education and the culture of not valuing science and scientists but rather having our youth worry about things that will not contribute one bit to a better future.

  • @epajrgolf And as for terrorists - look what happened when we neglected Afghanistan after the Soviet-Afghan war - the Taliban and subsequently Al Qaeda having a base there. Therefore, we can learn from our mistakes but "butting our nose into issues" is false - Islamic terrorists take their ques from the quran and hadith - the fanatical forms of Islamic extremism will not rest until the west is taken over - so, I simply ask you to learn more about Islamic extremism in making such judgements.

  • @TheSasss1 I am not debating Islamic extremism. I think it is a very serious issue that needs to be addressed but why did America decide to send the majority of its troops to Iraq when it was clear that there was no link between Saddam and Osama? Saddam did not believe in mixing with religious extremist because he was about power and not Jihad. Oil was the main agenda of the war not terrorism so spare me the lecture on Islam. I could care less because it's just another belief.

  • @epajrgolf Resorting as an answer as "oil" is very naive and shallow. Saddam had for decades defied the international community and it was not just the U.S. who thought he had chemical, biological, and possibly nuclear programs. Saddam also did indeed facilitate Islamic extremists including providing funding for the families of suicide bombers. There were a multitude of reasons for the Iraq war, and while Iran was a bigger threat under the IRI, the world is a better place without Saddam.

  • @TheSasss1 It is not shallow, it is logical. Iraq had oil, U.S. companies with massive lobbying power wanted that oil, and George W. Bush needed a distraction from the fact that he wasn't finding Bin Laden. There's your motive. The evidence that he still had chemical or biological weapons capable of doing any damage was flawed at best, and turned out to be a false lead. There were aluminum tubes, there was some 20 year old expired anthrax powder that you would have had to snort to get sick from.

  • @TheSasss1 Saddam Hussein and Islamic extremists had no love for each other. Saddam vigorously oppressed the hardline Shia fundamentalists who gave groups like Al-Qaeda most of their support, and they hated him right back.

  • @TheSasss1 If the war was really about terrorism then we would have had more troops going after the terrorist that attacked America then in Iraq. Don't you think it was ironic that the president thought Iraq was far more important then the Taliban in Afghanistan?

  • @epajrgolf It was to distract everyone from the fact that nobody had captured Bin Laden yet.

  • @TheSasss1 We didn't "neglect" Afghanistan. We supported the Mujahideen, we gave them weapons. The U.S. government knew that they were Islamic extremists, they didn't care, because it was more important to fight the Russians. This is not the result of not having a bloated military, it's the result of having a bloated military that threw some of its immense weight behind a group that later turned against us.

  • @yerk3 Actually, after the war we just packed up and left instead of helping to rebuild in contrast to what we have done and are doing today.

  • @epajrgolf

in a way, they are not spending it on the military, but spending it on Black secret projects, what cost Trilions of the Green Stuff.

  • @epajrgolf The Military pays for alot of Education in this Country. ie National Guard will pay full tuition for as long as your enlisted. The Educational System is not the problem in this Country, its the frame of mind of the Citizens. No offense to you if you are young, but the young people of this Country have gotten lazy and too dependent, compared to 20 years ago or longer. Most drop out don't drop out because its too hard, its because they just don't want to go.

  • Please see link above for the full video.

  • michio is so smart...but not with him for the first time...i dont care bout material thing i just wanna live peacefully wth my family

  • @Ahoracqnadielotiene What does that have to do with anything? Living peacefully with your family is about being successful economically and being properly educated. This is exactly what he is mentioning; the importance of education for a prosperous future for nations.

  • @TheSasss1 ...true...i feel what u saying..but still..peace&respect..example i left my family just to make money and be successful...and i wish it wasnt this way but ambition fuckd the game...

  • man, thats what i call a Physicist, and a complete human being!

  • Michio OWNS!! like a boss

    :D
