Ribbit may be okay for a small tree frog but any marsh living frog worth his salt , especially a big frog, says CROAK, CROAK, CROAK. It is an imitative word from the early to middle English period which still continues in common use.
Hence the term 'croaking frogs'.
If you ever read Aristophanes The Frogs from about 400 BC, the Greeks thought it was "Brekekekex koax koax"
I really like these little lessons! ^_^ I'd pay for them on the site if we weren't so low on money. ): I'm entering into Japanese II Spanish III and French I so I need all the help I can get. :D
This is one of my favorite shows. I would suggest signing up at the website if you are at all interested in learning Japanese. Probably the best learning resource for Nihongo benkyou on the web. Thanks George!
And just in case you ever look at these youtube comments, is that Charmy Ishikawa and Nakazawa sama on the wall back there? Nice!
In my country it's "Kvæk".
Kinda stupid, 'cause the frog doesn't sound like that at all.

The sounds should be the same as English. Having different sounds is anti-American and shows a lack of respect for America.

My friend in Japan has a serious phobia of frogs. I don't know why, but she shakes and cries when she sees one. Poor girl, frogs are everywhere.
