I too am from St. Louis. I've found this band was pretty exclusive to our town. No one ever knows what the heck I am talking about in other places. themeanblonde has great taste!
I think I hit the jackpot when I found this in my cousins music collection. Pity none of my friends will like it...being a teenager these days has its downsides.
@Hyronious I hear ya! Me and my band mates are all born in '96, and we all think the music nowdays suck. We are into old school Thrash and Death Metal. And of course you cannot dislike this band. We are actually going to do an DM cover of Dust's song SUICIDE.
hammergeil, echt ey, vielen, vielen Dank für dieses grandiose Musikfeuerwerk. Ich habe es sehr genossen. Es war echt eine Wucht! Ein akustischer Höhepunkt.
This song is one the best 70s songs ever! I was happy to see Derringer at Sweden Rock Festival, so I was able to see the DUST-bassplayer on stage. A DUST reunion would be a sensational thing.
This song is one the best 70s songs ever! I was happy to see Derringer at Sweden Rock Festival, so I was able to see the DUST-bassplayer on stage. A DUST reunion would be a sensational thing.
I'M 58 & grew up in Florissant , was raised on KSHE 95! If you put on your sweet-meat T-shirt everyone knows you love to ROCK! Dust is a must for all HM lovers.
yea Kenny Aaronson was def initely one of the great rock bass players EVER. out in Calif we saw him for the first time w/the Derringer band late 70's. AWESOME. (and he was also great in Billy Squier's DON'T SAY NO multi-platinum recording/tour band) annd right, played as band-or-tour hired-gun for dozens of other name acts, including Bob Dylan.
To all you St. Louis people - I was there too and remember a lot of it even at age 52! the KSHE scene was the best, I can remember hearing this song at the Spectrum in Webster Groves one of the first "head" shops.
Not to be forgotten after Dust ...Marc Bell joined Wayne County band the Backstreet Boys including : Greg Van Cook on guitars ,and Elliot Michaels on Bass ..Another Supergroup Dude !!!!!!!!! Ocasionally Kenny Aroson played with them .....
KENNY AARONSON FUCKING GOD! MARK BELL AWESOME,,,RICH WISE OUTSTANDINGLY FUTURE FUCKING GREAT..KENNY K (LYRICS) TOO FUCKING BAD ASS AS A LYRICIST,,,,WHAT A WINNING COMBO !!!.....THESE 2 RECORDS ARE THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE!! WHEN I WAS 12 I HEARD THIS,,,I FREAKED AND LOVED MUSIC EVER SINCE!!!
I too am from St. Louis and now 53, and I fondly remember this album cranking amongst many others of the era at Goose Creek. Man, those were the days!!!
I have both of their albums. In St. Louis, I heard this on KSHE, Crestwood,. Got both albums from Goodwill Thrift Shop of Pine Bluff for 50 cents each. Both still play after 17 years. Wanna buy 'em?
tough album to find in 72, we looked everywhere, then asked some guy if he could buy us some beer, you know the no id thing. I was always amzed at how many people broke the law to buy us beer. hundreds. Oh yea, I grew up in U. City. We ruled the Loop.
Went to school at Logos near Delmar. Used to go to Vintage Vinyl almost every day after school. Got this, Budgie, and some other rare stuff from the 99 cent rack in around '82. Love my vinyl!
I am an old hippie and had that album when I was 22. I am also from St. Louis but was spending a lot of time then on the West coast. Did not know 9 year old girls liked that kind of music, you didn't have an older sister did you? LOL
Just unreal. I bought this album when I was 9 yrs old. I loved the music, but the cover scared my half to death! LOL. I'm a girl in her 40's from good ol st louis mo, and cut my teeth on this stuff! It's nice to hear it other than getting lucky when KSHE plays it on sunday mornings! : )
@themeanblonde buy it on CD. I have it on album. Kama Sutra records. Its near mint. As for KSHE they were great back in the 1970s since the 1980s they totally suck. The classics show is a joke. Listen to ten songs to hear one good song. Billy Joel? Wow that really rocks....Not!
@themeanblonde you got that sooo right i cut my teeth on this to lol mom banging on the floor(my ceiling) yellin shut that shit down !!!!! loves ya mom muahhhh
double-platinum act DON'T SAY NO Billy Squier band! he killed it with that great stage lineup when Squier's lp broke huge while billy was stuck on the Queen tour that season. i saw their very first "headlining" gig ever (at the 2,000 seater the SF Warfield), booked/played on the first avaiable "day off" from the dopey Queen tour! seriously great live band! (Squier was an excellent rhythm guitarist).
The drummer Marc Bell does look like a Ramone! Except for producing KISS's first two albums, does anyone know what happened to these guys? Neil Bogart did have a knack for finding really good talent. Certainly these talented guys made it somewhere, somehow.
Kenny also played with Stories. (And apparently with Blue Oyster Cult.)
I saw him twice, once with Stories and once with Derringer at the Whisky in 1978. Cool thing about Kenny was that he not only ripped on bass, but combined that with really nifty stage moves, including hand gestures one would think impossible while playing bass runs!
You are 100% correct. Marc Bell did join the ramones and was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame with the rest of the ramones. Kudos to you and the rest for pointing me in the right direction on this one!
Dust's drummer Marc Bell later played for Richard Hell and the Voidoids, and then for the Ramones where he was known (and still is) as Marky Ramone. He now plays with the Misfits. I saw Dust a couple of times- unbelievable live. Marky was 15 when Dust made their first album. I have both Dust albums, and Marky has signed the first one!
@wdavide Marc Bell now has his own band called Marky Ramone's Blitzkreig. I had the pleasure of seeing them a couple of months ago and they kicked it. Blitzkreig has Michael graves from the Misfits on vocals.
the album on wich is 'from a dry camel', is self titled/no title - Dust. and what for a vid? it is only a copy from the cover... but thanks for that, a fucking genius song for a fucking world
Read the info. It says 'from The Self Titled Album". From A Dry Camel is the song title. And it's the song that counts, not the video, right? I've been looking for this song, thanks for posting it!
You Have Very good taste in music. I have both 'From A Dry Camel' & 'Hard Attack' on lp's. I wish that I had them on cd's. I don't know how you made this video (Because I know little about computers), But I feel That many people would appreciate it if you were to make more! Thank You again, It's good to hear Dust once more.
Its kind of a comforting thought, if i get thirsty and dehydrated there will be a camel nearby.
