No real purpose. I just wanted to see if I could do a dramatic piece in the vein of a motion picture theme. I'm not musically trained at all, so I had to draw on the compositional instincts I gained through many years of listening to music/film music. Was I successful?;)

Thanks for your feedback on the ending, too. I had a time getting it right. I really liked the starfield and intended to have it as a backdrop throughout, but After Effects said it would have taken at least 12 hours to render, so I compromised and put it on the end only.:)

Yeah, it kind of does. When I finished composing it, I thought it had a sort of nautical feel--that's why I called it Dark Seas.:)
