I know, I'm just pulling their chain. I worked for NAVAIR for 25 years in the test business. Any upgrade extensive enough to change the model designation of the aircraft would definitely call for a new flight certification.

So what's to test? It's the same airframe as the E-2C. Maybe some weight & balance issues and a shakedown but that's about it. Got to keep the boys in Flight Test from getting bored.
