Oh, my God, were we all ever so young! First saw Willie doing this in 1975! And I still have a Bloody Mary for Willie and me when I fly down to Houston a couple of times a year. Will love you forever!
Not many country artists have Willie's improvisational chops. I don't think he's ever played a song the same way twice. He plays this one relatively straight, and still manages to try something different.
Brad Paisley and keith Urban are so freakin ridiculous......this is the real deal.....Drinkin whiskey, pinchin a curvy butt, hug your grandkids, cooking a brisket kinda music.....Thank God I was born early enough that I know what the real deal is.
Willie recorded this in 1973 in Muscle Shoals, Al...well actually Sheffield. He was backed by the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (The Swampers) and a barber named Al Lester played fiddle on this song. From Willie Nelson to Rod Stewart to Aretha Franklin, there just wasn't ANYTHING those guys couldn't do!
Willie Nelson was the first music that I saw live. It was somewhere between 79 and 81 at the Astrodome during the rodeo. I was about 7 years old. All I remember is that it wasn't long enough! I have more Willie Lps than any other artist. I really treasure his and the Family's presence in my life. GO WILLIE!!!
What I would have given to have seen a concert of Willie nelson in the early 80s! I went one recently and it was great, but I really wish I could have seen his prime "Stardust" years.
Seeing him now is awesome, too. The giant package shows are okay, but when he headlines a 10 band show there aren't a lot of surprises. But when it's just Willie and Family and an opener, there's 2 1/2 hours of hits, obscurities, mood changes and he always, no matter what, ends big. Dude!! National Treasure!
Willie's hair and appearance have changed dramatically over the years but two things still remain the same (and will ever do): his voice and his guitar :)
wow look how young he is im 17 and i wish every day that i could meet willie nelson he is an amazing man and his guitar is amazing i would do anything to have it i love you willie and all that you do man you are a living god
This was the first Willie Nelson song I ever stood up & took notice of- I was still a kid. Still love the guy's music, and hope he's aroung for many more years.
Abbott Texas's Gift to the World of Music. I just read,"WILLIE NELSON-AN EPIC LIFE" and it was GREAT! Willie's had a real interesting life and career. Oh yeah, the Author of the book is "Joe Patoski". I hope y'all read it too. LOVE YA LANA!!!
When he hit Music Row they said "Boy, you can write but you can't sing." Add ten-fifteen years, a little hair, the beard and Outlaw Music and you have a WINNER! Gotta luv 'em all!
Please dont even start that talk. Willie is at the top of my favorite people list. I like millions will be devastated. God Bless Willie!! And long may he live.
Good Lord almighty, has there ever been a better country BAND!? Seriously, I'd take Willie, Bobbie, Jody, Mickey, Paul, Bee, etc. over Bob Wills' Texas Playboys - I mean it. The cool thing is that this video was filmed - what? About the mid 70s? And here it is 2008 and they're all still together aging and improving like fine fine wine. Play on, boys (and Mrs. Bobby) .... we LOVE you.
But Willie has! And I sat and listened to the sweet old man last week in St. Louis and yes he still rocks! (and to be honest, a close look at Trigger is pretty scarry too)
This is the first ever pilot of Austin City Limits 1974 Red Headed Stranger wasn't even out yet.I think he was still on Atlantic or just left them because the Country Division only lasted 2 years. The Audience wouldn't let him leave the stage, so the whole band tuned all the Instruments down at the End.He is so Cool.
This guy is a true American patriot; and awesome musician. Which brings me to say I was more than appalled when I heard Bill Oreilly call him a pinhead, saying he was a far, left liberal and pot advocate. I wrote Bill and told him I despised his comments. It sure showed me that corporate media (foxnews) is one example of the multi-million, making propaganda machine. Willie is true to the working class; republicans are corporate loyalty. Get that; in this election year; PLEASE!
I know this reply is 8 months late billy but I just saw this vid. You gotta lighten up a little. I think Willie is great but he IS a far left liberal and pot advct. Willie admits it himself. he's a big boy. It is what it is. He called him a pinhead, and Willie probably laughed his head off.
Straight talking American icon Willie Nelson today told a national radio show that he thought the twin towers were imploded like condemned Las Vegas casino buildings, as the country music superstar controversially voiced his doubts about the official 9/11 story... "I saw those towers fall and I've seen an implosion in Las Vegas - there's too much similarities between the two..."

Breaking Willie Nelson News:
tinyurl(DOT)com/yvd9lx
Excerpt:
Monday, February 4th, 2008
Straight talking American icon Willie Nelson today told a national radio show that he thought the twin towers were imploded like condemned Las Vegas casino buildings, as the country music superstar controversially voiced his doubts about the official 9/11 story... "I saw those towers fall and I've seen an implosion in Las Vegas - there's too much similarities between the two..."
