  • Before getting her

  • Willie Nelson es un milagro como Patsy Cline puede cantar el menu de un restaurante y quedaria bien.

  • Willie Nelson is a great Teke

  • Has anyone ever been busted for smoking weed at a willie concert because willie doesnt?

  • 0:21 love ya willie

  • Wow great 2 see this, i dont think i was born then this took place. Is that the young Trigger? i see the hole is there alredy

  • Is this considered Outlaw Country, like Honky Tonk?

  • austin city limits website has the full concert. It was the pilot in '74

  • speed kills,,,was the outlaw album version this fast?

  • @ddirtydave Willie always plays everything blazingly fast at his shows. Must be the weed.

  • @tdelamont

weed has the opposite effect....think columbia, and not Juan Valdez:)

  • @jsmilroy Ha-ha! Either that or he's in a hurry to get back to the bus for more weed.

  • Oh, my God, were we all ever so young! First saw Willie doing this in 1975! And I still have a Bloody Mary for Willie and me when I fly down to Houston a couple of times a year. Will love you forever!

  • Awesome! Where the hell did you get this??!! Thanks for putting it up here...what memories of the Golden Age of Austin!!

  • @TheHammerheart I believe this is from the pilot episode of Live at Austin City Limits , circa 1974 !!

  • holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wow

  • Why haven't I ever heard of him ? Talking of playing the guitar, well he's one of the best !

  • yehaaa!!!!

  • Great song!

  • great song

  • he is so young here

  • That bloody Mary Morning led to Barefoot and pregnant.

(Willie is from a state that does not enforce the teaching of human reproduction)

  • is this video from Austin City Limits?

  • @no1countryfan

    Yes, the very first one!

video or videos.google.com has it on there, the entire show. I just watched it last night.

  • bloody marry mourning

  • look @ this 1 see all them live verson

  • Damn! What was Willie-20?? Voice just got better...

  • love you dad!

  • this is grate. I forget that willie was young ounce. and still that grate voice..

  • Talk about a cat who never ages!

  • Not many country artists have Willie's improvisational chops. I don't think he's ever played a song the same way twice. He plays this one relatively straight, and still manages to try something different.

  • Brad Paisley and keith Urban are so freakin ridiculous......this is the real deal.....Drinkin whiskey, pinchin a curvy butt, hug your grandkids, cooking a brisket kinda music.....Thank God I was born early enough that I know what the real deal is.

  • Back when he was still known as the "Red Headed Stranger " .... Before the Fed's ripped him off....

  • love these gospel songs that willie does.

  • @dunsta5 ...Gospel song? It's not Mother Mary Morning...

  • @SevenT8 mother mary morning now thats a song title or how about mother mary mourning. cheers

  • "Just a country boy who's learnin' that the pitfalls of the city are extremely real." Awesome!

  • Are you kidding this is freaking awesome!!! Thank God for Willie, a Texas legend.

  • Willie recorded this in 1973 in Muscle Shoals, Al...well actually Sheffield. He was backed by the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (The Swampers) and a barber named Al Lester played fiddle on this song. From Willie Nelson to Rod Stewart to Aretha Franklin, there just wasn't ANYTHING those guys couldn't do!

  • Great song!!

  • The greatest jam band in country music!

  • aint no vocalist my ass

  • October 17, 1974, from the pilot of 'Austin City Limits'

  • @bristolsessions the PBS website, was allowing viewing of this pilot episode.. not sure if it is still available... GREAT SHOW...

  • Great video. What year was this?

    Thanks for posting.

  • Willie is a Texan.

  • As far as I'm concerned, Willie is THE Texan, after Houston, Austin, and Travis.

  • Willie aint no vocalist...but he sure can sing, he aint no guittar player but he sure can pick! He's a damn fine song writer too!

  • Tell me what exactly is the definition of a "vocalist" and "guitar player". Then please tell me who fits this definition.

Damn Fine Entertainer: Definition; Willie Nelson

  • You should ask willie. Those were his words. You should have known.

  • Willie Nelson was the first music that I saw live. It was somewhere between 79 and 81 at the Astrodome during the rodeo. I was about 7 years old. All I remember is that it wasn't long enough! I have more Willie Lps than any other artist. I really treasure his and the Family's presence in my life. GO WILLIE!!!

...and while I'm here, LONG LIVE TOWNES!!

  • What I would have given to have seen a concert of Willie nelson in the early 80s! I went one recently and it was great, but I really wish I could have seen his prime "Stardust" years.

  • Seeing him now is awesome, too. The giant package shows are okay, but when he headlines a 10 band show there aren't a lot of surprises. But when it's just Willie and Family and an opener, there's 2 1/2 hours of hits, obscurities, mood changes and he always, no matter what, ends big. Dude!! National Treasure!

  • Willie's hair and appearance have changed dramatically over the years but two things still remain the same (and will ever do): his voice and his guitar :)

  • sexy young, sexy old-love him

  • wow look how young he is im 17 and i wish every day that i could meet willie nelson he is an amazing man and his guitar is amazing i would do anything to have it i love you willie and all that you do man you are a living god

  • Comment removed

  • Willie is an American Treasure, no doubt.

  • Howdy country man:D!love this music!!

  • woot! awesome song 2 thumbs up

  • Oh really great Ill check it out. I know she wears a hat and has long hair.

  • At least Trigger hasn't aged.

    Love Ya Willie!!!!

  • Oh hell yea this is THE BEST country I ever heard. God Willie is such a treasure. May he live 4ever!!!!!

  • Best country band ever to exist. Who will top it? None!

  • Great band, I really dig the harmonica.

  • This was the first Willie Nelson song I ever stood up & took notice of- I was still a kid. Still love the guy's music, and hope he's aroung for many more years.

  • lead on, willy & family...sick jam--widespread, blues traveler, grateful dead sick

  • Willie Freakin' Nelson and the Family Band

  • Willie nelson,guitar,vocals. Jody Payne,guitar.

    Bee Spears,bass.

    Mickey Raphael,harmonica.

Paul(the devil)English, drums. They have played together for over 40yrs. and are still playing today....

  • I hear Willies sister has played piano with the band. Not sure though, maybe you might know?

  • I've seen her play with Willie's band, I believe her name is Bobby Nelson. She had an album come out about a year or so ago.

  • Bobby Nelson - correct.

  • Bass player is phenominal!!! Anyone know who this gent is? Whoohoo! Best jam ever!!!

  • The Bass players name is Bee Spears. Check for spelling, but that's his name. He's been with Willie for a long time.

  • Greatest country extreme country band ever. This rocks! Just beautiful and feels good! If this doesnt get you movin' I dont know what will.

  • Abbott Texas's Gift to the World of Music. I just read,"WILLIE NELSON-AN EPIC LIFE" and it was GREAT! Willie's had a real interesting life and career. Oh yeah, the Author of the book is "Joe Patoski". I hope y'all read it too. LOVE YA LANA!!!

  • When he hit Music Row they said "Boy, you can write but you can't sing." Add ten-fifteen years, a little hair, the beard and Outlaw Music and you have a WINNER! Gotta luv 'em all!

  • When Willie finally leaves us (in a couple decades or so) Trigger should be put in the Smithsonian.

  • Please dont even start that talk. Willie is at the top of my favorite people list. I like millions will be devastated. God Bless Willie!! And long may he live.

  • look at the trigger he hasent got peoples names on it yet but it got the hole

  • Good Lord almighty, has there ever been a better country BAND!? Seriously, I'd take Willie, Bobbie, Jody, Mickey, Paul, Bee, etc. over Bob Wills' Texas Playboys - I mean it. The cool thing is that this video was filmed - what? About the mid 70s? And here it is 2008 and they're all still together aging and improving like fine fine wine. Play on, boys (and Mrs. Bobby) .... we LOVE you.

  • Trigger hasn't aged a bit in the last 30 years!!

    Keep on rockin' Willie!!!

  • But Willie has! And I sat and listened to the sweet old man last week in St. Louis and yes he still rocks! (and to be honest, a close look at Trigger is pretty scarry too)

  • This is the first ever pilot of Austin City Limits 1974 Red Headed Stranger wasn't even out yet.I think he was still on Atlantic or just left them because the Country Division only lasted 2 years. The Audience wouldn't let him leave the stage, so the whole band tuned all the Instruments down at the End.He is so Cool.

  • yhr

  • This guy is a true American patriot; and awesome musician. Which brings me to say I was more than appalled when I heard Bill Oreilly call him a pinhead, saying he was a far, left liberal and pot advocate. I wrote Bill and told him I despised his comments. It sure showed me that corporate media (foxnews) is one example of the multi-million, making propaganda machine. Willie is true to the working class; republicans are corporate loyalty. Get that; in this election year; PLEASE!

  • I know this reply is 8 months late billy but I just saw this vid. You gotta lighten up a little. I think Willie is great but he IS a far left liberal and pot advct. Willie admits it himself. he's a big boy. It is what it is. He called him a pinhead, and Willie probably laughed his head off.

  • Thanks for sharing. Was it recorded with that junk on the sides? I'd love to see the full version if you have it?

  • Sorry, I have not full version.

  • @riverlim

It's from an old interative cd rom from probably about '97. I had the same one and yeah it had the stuff around it like that.

  • @creid0000

    thank you. you're right. :)))

  • @riverlim @riverlim

  • In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.

    Thomas Jefferson

    3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)

    Vote for Ron Paul willie!

  • sounds good on a friday night!

  • Good stuff!! This is my kind of Willie Nelson music. Thanks for sharing.

  • poet laureate!

  • Those are the best mornings!!!

  • fuckin timeless!

  • seen the master 8 times!!

  • Willie gets around !!.... I saw him in co. Kerry, Ireland, on two occasions, and once in N.Y. He is a tough trouper and troubadour.

  • My favorite Willie song. One of my favorite artists and great writer.

  • I've seen him twice. Once with the highwaymen in Colorado and once in Red Lodge, Montana with a forest fire burning in the background. He played a three hour show that night. You can tell he loves his fans and he loves to preform for them.

  • I saw Willie at the Sydney Cricket Grounds in Sydney, NSW, Australia in 1981. Best show ever...

  • damned rite i gave it a 5 - them dudes were cooking - almost as good as ymsb

  • I love Willie's stuff from the Outlaw era.

  • Willie is such an awesome guitarist!!!

  • I just love Willie and his faithful band! does anyone know of a good video featuring Bobbie on keyboards??

  • This is about 75 or 76, making Trigger only 6 or 7 years old.

  • the yonder mountain string band does a really cool version of this song bluegrass style..it is on one of their live releases but i cant think of the name of it and i own the cd..not looking for it though.

  • Mtn Tracks Vol. 3

  • The guitar is called Trigger I do believe. Correct me if I am wrong.

  • uhh I love this song

  • I was looking for that guitar. His f**ked guitar with a whole on it.

Any more videos with that same guitar?

    Thanks man.

  • I think he always uses that guitar, he named it Joker i think, lol. So any performance should have that guitar

  • Correction: Trigger is the name of the guitar. Came to me right after i posted the last comment, lol

  • Thanks for the information, I appreciated.

  • When I first saw Willie perform in the early 70s in Austin, this is how he looked. He was amazing then and he's amazing now. I sometimes wish we could all go back to that magic time in Austin before fame took him away from us kids who just loved to sit and listen to him in small clubs.

    Sweet memories

  • Me, too. 1972 Kerville Folk Festival. $2. Willie, Murphy, Buckwheat, Jerry Jeff. Sweet memories indeed.

  • Oh, lol, I was there too. Sweet memories indeed.

  • i know what you mean man jus think of ppl my age ( mid 20's) when pat green and dierks bently left the club scene, sad man. but i wish i had been around for the austin scene in the 70's had to have been better than anything i have ever seen.

  • i say we run Michael Dell out of town.

  • awesome !! never seen him so young. i love this man !!
